This property is just fine. As others have noted, it has some age on it but the lobby area and corridors seem to have been updated. The rooms....not so much. But there was nothing wrong with them. Comfortable furniture, everything functioning, and clean. I wouldn't expect super gracious/kind staff but they'll do their jobs. Location is good. Adjacent to highway. Not far from downtown (7-8 min). Fast food and Wal-Mart and Walgreens across the street. If you need to stay in a hotel in Murphy, you don't have all that many options and this is probably the best you'll get. Again, very standard "ok" hotel property, just don't expect to be wowed by the property or the staff. read more

Being the only "decent" hotel in Murphy, we have stayed here innumerable times. It just gets from bad to worse. Front desk staff mostly young men who couldn't give a damn. Housekeeping blocks the hallways with bags of trash, you have to touch these filthy bags to get by. Gross! Hotel was DEAD. As in VERY FEW guests. Was in a wheelchair and asked for a later checkout as it took me more time to pack up. Young man at front desk said "I'll give you thirty minutes". Not helpful. And the way he said it! So rude! Ice machines are ALWAYS broken on the floor you are on. Now WHY is that? Because they DON'T CARE! These people don't care and it shows. I hope Murphy gets a decent hotel very soon, as this one STINKS. The breakfast service is NOT ADA accessible. A GUEST helped me while two young men sat with their FEET UP in the back office staring at me. I couldn't even make a damned waffle! No fruit left out during the day for guests as in ALL OTHER Hilton properties. And the employees scarf up the cookies left out for the guests at night - wander around with them and eat them right at the front desk in front of guests checking in. Does the owner not know what is going on? Or does he/she not give a hoot? Seems to be the latter with the coldness and rudeness of many of the younger male staff. Murphy! The rooms were literally SO Gross- filthy as a matter of fact. Thankfully across the street is a WalMart- you WILL need cleaning supplies! I'm posting pictures of the mold, the filthy towel that happened after I wiped off the edges of the outdated mirrors and the dark dirt under the shelves of the sink. The floors were sticky, sloven filth so bring socks. Don't stay here if you can help it at all!!!! Wear socks and tight clothing. Only bonus was day shift employees are nice... night shift- nope/ older woman who is playing on her phone in the lobby tables and folding towels there too... when you wash your hands then dry them- you automatically feel like you should wash them again because the towels are GRUNGY! DO NOT let the modern, clean lobby fool you at all- terror awaits in the rooms!!! read more

We stayed here for one night while on our inaugural tour of Western North Carolina. The location is convenient to the highway. We had seen the low ratings when we made our reservation but there is only one Hilton property in Murphy so we decided to go with it. We utilized the online check-in via the Hilton app and went straight to our room. The room was a bit outdated and very dark but appeared to be clean. We checked out the complimentary breakfast in the morning which included: eggs, sausage, French toast sticks, waffles, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, sliced breads, juices and more. Overall this was a good stay, It was quiet and comfortable. The employees were friendly as well. read more

We checked out two days early because of the unbelievably rude treatment from the front desk worker, Bonnie. She talked down to us, acted like she knew everything, and made us feel completely unwelcome. Her nasty attitude overshadowed everything good about the hotel. Management seriously needs to reevaluate who they're putting in charge of guest service. I wouldn't stay here again if it were free. read more

Ok, before you say anything, here's why! Is it dated yes! But, the front desk was super friendly, it's across the street from Walmart if you need to make a run. Many fast food places to eat. It has a microwave and fridge that was actually cold and worked. AC was Cold! They had the soaps in the shower but also the small soaps as well. It was overall clean (reminder it's dated). Free breakfast in the am w/ not only reg but strawberry waffles. Pricing wasn't that bad for the area. The casino up the street Harrahs have free promo nights but still charges you the amount of non promo nights..dumb...and they love service animals here! Pets too and have little bone bags for them. It's also super quiet and you can park i from of room depending on your room so that you can watch your car. One thing I do like is to be able to see my car from the room. Especially when traveling since I have everything in it. Only negative I had was the WiFi wouldn't connect and the tv stopped working briefly but it's because of the storm, your also in the mountains, combine those 2 and your lucky to get any service. read more

Dingy bed and bath linens - dirty. No housekeeping at all unless on request. Ice machines out of order, elevator worked until last day. Breakfast ladies very nice, food below expectations for. Hampton Inn charging this room rate. I've stayed at a lot of Hampton inns, and this was below expected standards, and always. Hopefully the management staff will step it up. read more

If you're looking for a no frills location to grab some shuteye, this will do. They offer decent parking for diamond members, but they don't acknowledge them when you check-in. This location also doesn't offer the digital key login so you'll have to check-in at the front desk. The breakfast area was loaded with kids and severely picked over, there wasn't much to choose from so we opted to grab a breakfast sandwich at the Burger king across the street. They don't offer grab and go snack bags at this location on the weekends, but very few do. Handy if you're just passing through, but if you're looking for a getaway or vacation type of experience, keep moving a little further up the road. read more

We stayed here for 3 days in January 2013. This Hampton Inn definitely is different than others I have stayed at. First of all, housekeeping leaves by 2pm, so if you happen to stay in your room and want room cleaned while you go out for a late lunch or dinner - forget that - housekeeping is already gone for the day. I even told housekeeping that we wanted our room cleaned, and still nothing. We finally got the front desk to send up some towels since ours was all dirty and we had three adult staying in one room. Also, the room is structured weird. The closet is right by the entry to the bathroom and instead of sliding doors, the doors open outward, blocking the intersection to get to the bathroom. Also, the A/C does not work that well at all. We tried to get ours to work and it wouldn't cool the room below 74-degrees. The evening front desk staff was literally sitting around. I realize that one of the ladies was very pregnant, but the other one didn't seem to be. Every time we entered the hotel, they were sitting in the lobby area, watching TV with their feet up. I'm not kidding, seriously. But Hampton Inn has the monopoly as there aren't many hotels to chose from, although it shares the parking lot with Best Western. Wi-fi is spotty here, so if you are here for business reasons, do not count on it. read more

Does not appreciate Hilton Honors guests. Unprofessional staff, very rude and lacks basic customer service skills.

Typical Hampton, nothing special. Although it is little outdated, the rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. I stayed here while working in Blairsville (about 20 min drive). If you are a Hilton person, this is the best and the only option you have in this area. read more
