    Communal table in breakfast area

Because we stay at a lot of Hampton Inns when we travel, we have the perfect background and experience to write a quality and fact-based review. This location in Marion, Arkansas, was actually a last-minute add using points. We were traveling through the Total Eclipse Zone and needed a hotel for after we passed through that was not full or overpriced due to the Eclipse, and easy to get to after watching the Eclipse. When we arrived, it was late partly due to heavy traffic leaving after watching the Eclipse and partly due to one-Lane areas through construction zones. There was plenty of parking and we had a friendly welcome for checking in. We were quickly off to our room, the typical King, flat screen TV, desk and chair (the chair height did not adjust), tub shower, etc. The room was clean and comfortable and we settled in for the night. Because we inserted this extra hotel in our schedule and redistributed the driving for each day, we slept in a bit and then went for breakfast. They had the usual items available including breads and bagels, fruits, cold and hot cereals, assorted juices, waffle maker and toppings, and a rotating variety of hot eggs, omelettes, sausages, etc. My wife had her usual Oatmeal, fruits, and yogurt while I had my usual scrambled eggs and sausages, whole wheat bread (for health), made a waffle, and we both had Orange Juice. Then we had coffee and Cinnamon Raisin Toast. My coffee included a dose of hot chocolate mix for my Caffe Royale... Overall this appears to be a clean, relatively new or remodeled Hampton Inn. The staff were all friendly and professional. The breakfast area was kept clean, well stocked with a variety of good food choices, and smiles to get you started right on your day. I would definitively stay here again on any future trips through this area!

The property was clean. The only complaint was the outside was not the cleanest but I feel like that's not their complete fault. Some people left garbage and other items around. Not cool. It gave the hotel a bad look from the outside. I would not drop the rating due to that minor detail. Overall, great and happy experience.

A Worry-Free Stay !…read more I stayed in this Fairfield Inn as the Hotels across the river in Memphis were very expensive at the time of my booking. This Marriot property was fairly new and close to restaurants and highways. Check-in was seamless and I received my keys immediately and was thanked for being a Bonvoy member. My room was very spacious and clean and had new furniture. The room has all the amenities you need for a short or longer stay. The beds were very comfortable and i got a good night's sleep The closet had an extra blanket as well as an ironing board. Connecting to wifi was easy and the signal was strong. Like many of the newer Marriot hotels, you can watch your streaming services on the room's TV and erase your credentials anytime. The washroom was large and clean and had plenty of towels. The bathroom has soap, shampoo and conditioner in the shower. The fitness center has enough equipment for more than a basic workout. I did not have breakfast as I went out to eat in the morning. Overall a pleasant and worry-free stay.

The toilet was not attached very well to the floor but as we had only one night I let it go. Place was ok but not great, for the price it's fine. Bathroom kind of small, bed was ok. Mostly clean. Yet another place without game show network which is odd. It is older in a place with several newer places at comparative prices. I just took this one as it came up first and best deal on Expedia. Plus side, they didn't steal money from me like the previous hotel still has. The breakfast was decent. Good OJ, ok eggs, sausage is what I had. Wife says it was satisfactory. Exactly as expected with no surprises or extras. Little tip, the book in the room that talks about breakfast lists coffee, donuts, and juice making it seem like that's all they had. They have eggs, biscuits, oatmeal etc, not sure why they downplay it but there you go. For a one night stay, not a bad place or if your on a budget it works. Longer stays I would go elsewhere.

What sets this one apart is the STAFF. Miss Shiela at the front desk was amazing - she always greeted me with a friendly "Good morning" and gave me an excellent referral to a local nail salon (I was in desperate need for a fill). Corrine (I hope I spelled her name correctly!), the hotel manager, was fantastic and always took the time to say hi and make sure the guests had what they needed. Miss Brittney, also at the front desk, was super sweet and very helpful with directions and getting us packages we had ordered (we were there for a week), and last but not least, Mr. Tyson, who was also very friendly, very helpful with local knowledge of stores (that Nike Outlet was the bomb!), restaurants, etc. We felt like FAMILY, and I miss them all! A special shout out to the kitchen staff too - there was an odd shortage of butter during breakfast and I wish I had gotten her name, but she was SO nice and helpful, always with a genuine smile and a cheery "good morning!" I plan on going back to the West Memphis area in the fall, and you better believe this is the ONLY place I will consider staying!

The pool is a really great addition to have, especially outside since it was blazing hot in September during our stay. The second door into the lobby locks after hours, meaning you need your room key to open it, which I feel was an extra beneficial layer of security. The breakfast was amazing with a beautiful seating area. The whole building was very clean and staff were very friendly. The beds were nothing to talk highly of, they were about 6" thick and as soon as you lay down, it feels as if you've bottomed out. We stayed two nights and had seen several places to call the front desk if we needed room service before, as they only clean every third day. Imagine our surprise when we left to go explore Memphis and came back and we were not able to get into our room with either of our keys. Once getting reprogrammed, we entered the room to find it had, in fact, been cleaned after one night, with all of our stuff out in the open. Overall, we had an exceptional stay here and if in the area again, we would consider staying here again.

Also, they have a complimentary breakfast which I loved.

Not this time. The desk employees are very nice and professional. The young lady thanked me for being a member and handed me my room keys. The whole check-in process took less than 2 minutes. Perfect. Though from there, the stay went sideways. The facility looks tired, worn, and not up to expected standards. Sticky floors in the elevator, smudges on the corridor walls, carpets that needed cleaning. In the room we had, it really wasn't that much better. More of the same, but maybe to a lesser degree. Still, not up to Holiday Inn standards. We asked for a room on the side of the building, not facing I-40, and that is a must. You can't hear yourself think when outside, and I can't believe that it's much better if you have a facing room. Our room on the opposite side of the building, though, was quiet. There was no highway noise at all. We were tired and just wanted to relax and catch up on the weather, so we turned on the TV. The screen was tinted purple. No way to fix it. Even my grandson, who is a wizard with electronics, couldn't figure it out. Cause we were all settled in, we made do. There's a lack of attention to detail at this Holiday Inn Express. Breakfast in the morning was a challenge in of itself. The fruit juice selections were watery, there was no batter in the pancake machine, and the overall appearance of the breakfast area was unappealing. Again, lack of attention to detail. The next morning wasn't any better. Though that morning, there was batter in the pancake machine, it ran out after 4 pancakes! The eggs, bacon, and cinnamon rolls weren't replenished, and this was still with an hour of breakfast remaining. It was almost as if the attendants thought, Oh well, they've had enough to eat. I'll continue to stay at Holiday Inn Express, but never at this location. Nor should you. Quick Tip: There's a peculiar smell that permeates the area. It smells like sewage. I don't know if it actually was or if it was a byproduct of manufacturing in the area. It's enough to dissuade one from staying in this location. Had I known of it, I definitely wouldn't have booked a room here.

First, we stayed here because Arkansas was on the bucket list to visit and we were on a road trip. Thus, we couldn't stay in Memphis and we had Hilton points to use up by a certain time. Otherwise, it's fine for 1 night, but don't stay 4 nights like we did. Second, here's a list of the good, bad, and ugly... Good: Pooling heated, towels in the room, fairly empty so easy to use. They have a gym too, with everything working. Breakfast was on par for the brand, and I liked the yogurt machine. Their refillable water station was also convenient. Bad: Digital key for room stopped working after day 1 and they had no idea how to fix it. Physical key also stopped working after day 2 and we had to go reset them. Annoying and inconvient. They ran out of coffee one day, fine since I don't drink it, but annoying for some. Their tea selections were all caffeine, nothing for bedtime. They ran out of lids one day too, which is dangerous when trying to bring a hot beverage to your room. If you forget anything, you'll have to pay for it, so pack your toothpaste! Finally, their location on the highway is fine for going to Memphis, but super inconvient for getting back to the hotel or trying to visit the casino across the street since the service road is one way. Not their fault, but just FYI. The Ugly: Their house cleaning was non-existent. Free sticker on the bathroom mirror said every other day. Fine by me. Except they didn't come. So we called to ask and then had to go down ourselves to get towels that second night. Again on day 3, no one came. And again on day 4, no one came. The trash got a little icky and a giant pile of towels stacked up. Beds were not made. But that was still not the worst thing. The worst was the mold in the shower, around the fire sprinkler (maybe dirty?), and the ac unit. Which we had to run. So, if you really need a cheaper place with free parking (assuming they aren't too busy, it's a small lot) and don't need to eat when you stop (nothing much nearby) and you are just staying one night, it might be ok. But I was very disappointed in the hotel and it has tainted the brand for me. Gold status for Hilton doesn't matter if they don't make sure the service is decent and the rooms are good.
