Dirty patio.

Cleanliness of rooms. Dirt everywhere. Balcony door won't lock and Maintenance says. " non of these balcony doors lock: can't get the part). Omg. Buy new doors!! Dirty lampshades and carpets. Marked walls. U safe. No locking door to balcony. Asked for two sets of towels. Given one. IPillows are yellow. Refrig dirty. AC Intahe nasty with mold. Room stinks and smelly.

ICE'd out. Two vehicles in the EV parking.

Great location in downtown Fairhope. Was easy to walk to most locations and there's free parking everywhere to include the parking garage behind the hotel. The hotel is up to the standards I'd expect of a Hampton Inn. The front desk clerk was very nice and got us checked in a couple hours early. They had a robust Continental breakfast with little omelets, turkey sausage, fried potatoes, cereal, fruit, bread, coffee, juice, etc. I love a good breakfast. There is a ChargePoint station in the parking garage that costs $1.25/hour. Was disappointed it's not free. Two spots ICE'd out. All in all, a pleasant experience.

My lovely window view.... Of trash.

Noisy trash trucks at 530 am just outside my damned window overlooking an alley. I can already hear the excuse... "it's the city schedule, we can't do anything". Yes you can! Complain as the customer to stop this asinine collection time of 0530 in the morning near a facility that visitors to your community are fore damned sure sleeping. It sounded like a tornado with a back up beeper right outside the window.

The Grand Dining Room - Philly Steak and Eggs

Delicious in every way the word delicious can be used! Scrumptious view, luxurious service,…read morefabulous food! Grits are easy to cook~ so it continues to defy this Southerner's logic how ordering grits in restaurants continues to be a dicey proposition. Thankfully, as with many other things, The Grand gets it exactly right. The grits are of perfect consistency, served hot (though buried under lots of other goodness) and flavorful (not bad, considering their main role is a supporting one at best!) This dish comes with chorizo sausage, Parmesan, scallions, tomatoes, crisp bacon ~ goodness gracious! Each bite has its own taste profile ~ variety in one dish! So delicious! Highly recommend! The waitstaff greet you with fresh coffee and juice. Hubs ordered the Philly Steak and eggs and all conversation ceased as his utterances were reduced to "Mmmmmm" and "oooohhhhh" and "So good!" Why on earth is this not a five star rating? Someone turned off the burner for the coffee, so refills were lukewarm or downright cool. Hubs requested a fresh cup, so amazing server brought a new cup ~ but alas, still tepid coffee. Eventually, hubs asked for HOT coffee. The waiter then figured out the cause and rectified the situation ~ so I guess you could add a star back? I reserve the 5 stars for perfection, and despite being close, this wasn't quite there. But guess what?! We're going back this morning! Worth the visit ~ worth the cost!

Beautiful hotel and resort along the coast of Alabama in Daphne AL. Everything about this property…read moreis top notch. Several buildings with different rooms. We stayed in the Marina building and they have balcony rooms with beautiful views from every room. They even provided fishing poles and bait on the pier! The casual dining here is ok, our pizza was cold in the middle and the waitress was slow. Overall I would not eat there. The next morning though, the bartender made delicious Bloody Mary's for us and was very friendly. However, the front hotel staff manager Tanisha was amazing! Very attentive and knew we were from out of town and wanted us to have a perfect stay. Even the valets were very nice and courteous. We would definitely come back as an anniversary stay or a romantic getaway. Love the southern hospitality.

Bliss can be expensive ~ but this resort delivers. History? Check. Views? For miles. Activities?…read moreGot it. Swimming pools? Yep! A spa? Next level! Hubs and I are not complicated people (yeah, right!) I am a Southerner, so I think I've known about The Grand Hotel for a long time. I wanted to stay here for a quick escape from my (albeit wonderful) everyday. I was pretty picky in room selection ~ I wanted a balcony with relaxing chairs (nope ~ not a high top) and a view of water. Our second floor room in the Spa Building delivered perfectly. The Grand has an app listing all the things it offers ~ I can't list them all here. Still the lawn games (bocce, corn hole, ping pong, mini golf) and bicycles merit mention! Don't miss the 3:45 pm history of the hotel and cannon firing! It's expensive to stay here, but it is fun. The grounds do not disappoint ~ the staff miss no detail in keeping this property in top form. Our room was nice ~ but my theory of hotels is that no matter how luxurious the lobby, the rooms are basically the same. Our room is beautifully decorated (calming colors!) and has all the requirements! We so loved our stay!!

The hotel itself is beautiful and I feel they've done an excellent job incorporating all the historical aspects of the hotel into a modern day beach resort. All of the amenities were incredible, including the pools. The beach and the views from the room and the old historic hotel were lovely. I picked a room in the historic main building, and I couldn't have been happier with my choice; the beds were comfortable, the room, large, in the bathroom well appointed. This was an exceptional place to stay on the Gulf shore!

Beautiful resort with a lot to do. Very friendly staff, great spa and a golf course worth the trip.read more

We found this place on Trip Advisor as the Best Rated B&B in Alabama for 2013 and were pretty…read moredisappointed in our experience. When we called to book, the owner said the cottages were all booked through May but the Master Bedroom was available and would be $50 less per night that the cottage. The pics online look nice and cozy so we booked it! We booked the room thinking we would have a nice quiet room for our getaway. Not exactly. The Master bedroom was on the main floor, next to the living room and kitchen, where the TV was on constantly and the two ladies who work there were hanging out. The closet and drawers in the dresser of this room had all the clothes of a person who normally resides in there, most likely the owner. Kind of awkward to have mens shoes and PJs and suits/hats/etc... in the room where you are supposedly the guest of honor. Two things that were good: CLEAN beautiful place and good food! Breakfast was very good both days, but another awkward part of our room location was that the doors opening to our room were where breakfast was served, and were just glass covered with slated blinds. The cook mentioned to us that breakfast was to be served outside our door at 9 "so be sure to close your blinds." Wanted to have a quiet morning in bed, interrupted with people outside your door/window...no exactly romantic. The cook was good and we cannot complain about breakfast whatsoever. The food was great! The owner came in and interrupted the table conversation 3 times to talk about how hard it has been to "find good help" and went on about some women stealing money from him and taking items that guests had forgotten, etc.. REALLY? This is not something to go on and on about with your CURRENT GUESTS! Way to make us feel uncomfortable leaving anything of value around! I don't meant to rant and rave, but there were two other major disappointments with this place. We were told when we first booked to bring our swimsuits, as they had a hottub out under the stars next to the bay. Sounded super romantic to sit out there. So we bought some white wine and planned to spend some time out there on our last night. We got to the house around 9 and the owner got up, in his pajamas mind you, and offered us some ice cream. I know he was trying to be nice, but it felt more like our Grandpa was waiting up for us. We told him we were planning to use the hottub and instead of going out to make sure it was ready, he went out and found us a lantern and told us where to find the plug to turn on the lights out there. We got in our swimsuits and robes, toting our wine and glasses and lantern and hurried out in the cold to jump in. When we pulled the cover off and got in, it took a second to realize it was COLD! The temp was 80 degrees, set on "economy mode" and no instructions posted anywhere how to heat it up. We tried and tried and within 30 minutes it was only ONE degree warmer. We were pissed, and COLD. Not a good impression. The next morning he asked how the hot tub was and we told him our experience and instead of apologizing/etc, we was blaming people for "messing with it and not putting it back how they found it." Then he proceeded to tell us that it takes about 5 hours to heat up. The proper way to have handled this was to ask that morning if we wanted to use it, considering he told us to bring swim suits! Anyway, we were disappointed to say the least. During our final breakfast, he asked T (my other half) to come with him to settle the bill before he left for a Doctors appointment. He came back saying he couldn't use his band debit/credit card so I gave him my VISA. Again, he came back and said it wasn't working. I've never had a card rejected, by the way. I gave him my backup Mastercard and, guess what, "it isn't working." Because he was in a hurry, he had T ride with him to the nearest bank to pay the bill, (where they charged a usage fee because it wasn't our bank). We get home and T's online bank statement say's the fee was charged by Point Clear Cottages TWICE and cancelled TWICE. My mastercard says the exact same fee is still pending. If this charge doesn't disappear tomorrow, I'm contacting my bank! I seriously doubt this guy knows how to run the credit card machine. BEWARE! I think staying in the Bayside cottage, which is detached from the main house, would definitely be the only way to go if you want to book here. But honestly, there are over 20 other B&Bs on the same road that I would be willing to try instead, as well as a nice Marriott's Grand Hotel about 1 mile down the road. We would have paid the same amount, and had a functioning pool/considerate staff/etc. Overall, I would not recommend this place.
