I originally reserved a 2 queen suite w/sofa bed and kitchenette, however, my husband "upgraded" our reservation to ocean view, which was a smaller room w/balcony (w/o kitchenette). Lesson learned. The covered/recessed balcony provided privacy from next-door neighbors and provided beautiful views of the sunrise/beach. Staff friendly and accommodating, breakfast offerings included egg items (scrambled, omelettes), meat (bacon chicken sausage/links), seasoned potatoes, cereal, breads,pastries/scones, Belgian waffle station (churro flavor was different), oatmeal, and coffee/tea/hot cocoa/juice, and fresh fruit. Coffee/tea/cocoa and citrus water station near entrance/front desk stocked 24/7. Beach is great for shelling/walking. I found the location to be conveniently located for shopping, food, Historic Corolla Village, Currituck Lighthouse, Currituck Beach Maritime Forest Trail Lookout (wheel chair accessible boardwalk to lookout; hiking trail through forest off boardwalk), and 4x4 beach access. If you're expecting to see wild Spanish mustangs, chances are slim and I recommend investing in a horse tour on 4x4 beach. Well worth the money (tours may be closed for season, so dbl check hours/offerings). If you're into sightseeing, you are ~ 1 hour drive to Bodie Lighthouse, Coquina Beach, and Pea Island. Hatteras is further south ~ 2 hours. I love visiting in the off seasons n and was surprised the number of businesses and restaurants still open during Thanksgiving holiday. read more

Stayed for a week just before the season. This visit, different room on 2nd floor overlooking the parking lot. Had a balcony which had a couple of chairs and a small table. Nice spacious room for a small family with 2 queen beds, tiny kitchenette and sitting area. Now seeing our 3rd different room it seems that maintenance is lacking or the hotel itself needs some room refurbishment. This time the bathroom floor tiles were broken, which wiggled when you stepped on them and minor rusty bathroom fixtures. At least this time the room didn't smell of must and mold. The staff were all really friendly from the front desk to the room attendants. The hotel location is great if you want to get away from the busy beaches of KHawk, KDH, & Nags. If you plan to eat out a lot in those areas and don't mind that drive and traffic during peak season. Otherwise stick to Duck/Corolla for local eats close to the hotel. I really like this location just wish they kept the rooms updated. The morning breakfast is interesting to watch the old folks complain and fight over the food. If you see a tour bus pull in that night, expect the next morning to be busy. Get your breakfast early before it gets busy. read more

After hearing horrible things from Yelp and other review websites we were scared at how our stay was going to be like! But once we checked in, the room was very clean, no molds, no smell of mold, and the staff was very nice and texted you throughout the stay to make sure things were in order. The pool was very clean, they had towel stations constantly filled with towels, and a rinse station to take sand off! I can see how people say its outdated but i thought it was pretty good for the price you are paying. My only complaint is the shower water pressure. But other than that it was a nice stay. Didnt try their breakfast since we wanted to try breakfast places in the area read more

*WARNING LENGTHY* I will start by saying we're definitely returning to this location-but with the knowledge from this past experience, we'll avoid the previous mistakes. We used the app to check-in and pick a room, so that we could use our phone and check in (using our Hilton Honours account). The "waive your phone" in front of the suite door does work, but you can't get into the building doors without a proper keycard-just FYI, unless you only walk around the entire building (from the beach) and go through the front lobby. We did not get the room we chose, but that didn't really matter-or so we thought. We dropped off our bags - including my carryon directly on the floor at the foot of the bed (this comes back to bite me) and headed out to meet friends and family. We were here for our 25th Anniversary and my partner's 50th birthday. We DID notice a mouldy smell in the room, but the AC was on blast and it was still warm, so we figured it had just been cleaned and maybe the door to the hall/outside and brought in the dank/damp smell. We assumed when we returned, it would have cleared. We were wrong. When we returned to the room that evening, absolutely exhausted from 2 days drive, and meeting up with everyone. We just wanted to pass out and sleep. But the dank smell and the muggy air pumping out the AC were practically choking us. We dialled the AC down (it was still reading 75) and my husband jumped in the shower - which, on a side note, filled to his ankles within minutes. That's when the ball dropped. I went to pick up my carryon luggage, and saw water dripping off the bottom. I immediately put it on the table and walked around the side of the bed (closest to the sliding doors) and my shoes were squishing water up from the carpet. The room had clearly been previously flooded (storm), and the standing water mildewing in the room was what we were actually smelling. I pulled out my clothes from the carryon luggage and they had absorbed the dark water about halfway up. My luggage was tweed, and also soaked through and ruined. I threw it away when we got home after attempting to save it. You would have to understand true exhaustion, to the point we were almost delirious, to understand why we chose to lay on the bed and fall asleep despite this scenario. I cried myself to sleep (so hard I got a nosebleed), but with the resolve to address the room nightmare in the morning. In the morning, we woke to an even stronger stench. The AC at 74F (only 1 degree difference). I put on clothes from my dry suitcase and went down to explain to Isis that our room had water in the carpet, smelled terrible, the AC wasn't working, the shower was clogged, and on the way out I also found water coming out of the refrigerator onto the tile floor at the entrance. She gave me a room key to a different room, but it didn't work. So when I came back to explain that it didn't work, Glen redid the key card and I went back up for the second time, to find a perfectly clean, sanitised room that I would have given a kidney for the night before. But then I had to get a luggage cart and load up everything we had just unloaded the night before. Without my husband-whom I had to force to leave so not to miss part of his birthday week, whilst I promised to sort the room issues myself. That's my own fault. A couple employees came to my room, possibly to address the issues (?) and were absolutely gobsmacked that we were put in the room in the first place-did they know it had flooded from the last storm? They splashed their feet in the carpet and just shook their heads at the smell, etc. They also saw I was overwhelmed having to move 2 weeks of luggage and belongings and called the wonderful Simon from maintenance to my room. I will say Thank God for Simon. He was the only help I received. He was a superhero! Not only did he help get the overloaded luggage trolley to our new room-he even helped me take everything off and put it in its respective place. Simon deserves a raise! I owe that man a drink! So, after I moved all my stuff and re-unpacked it, so our vacation could actually start in the beautiful Outer Banks. Housekeeping was on top things each day. The rooms could definitely use some updating in spots, but generally clean and in good condition. Breakfast was just lovely for a quick grab-and-go Hilton style, and I loved, loved, LOVED seeing all the adorable dogs everywhere that I got to pet and boop, and with responsible owners keeping up with their potty cleanup duties! Right on the beach, perfect location, including a handy footwash. Unfortunately, Hampton Inn has no control over human guests that stay with them - which was our only other gripe (besides that first night). A quick scan of the license plates in the parking lot may explain it, but the poor desk staff clearly earn their halos when grimacing pensioners come whinging about the jacuzzi temps being too cold,complaining about breakfast, clouds blocking sunrise, etc. read more

This was a hit and miss hotel. It's the only real hotel on the northern part of the outer banks, which was really convenient when we wanted to come down early before the beach house we rented was available, but it was a bit quirky when push came to shove. We stayed here for two nights to be able to come down early before our beach house rental. It's actually hard to find hotel rooms in the area because it's almost all houses, so this was sort of the only option unless you wanted to go almost an hour further south toward kitty hawk. It seemed like a nice place to get a room in a hotel on the ocean with a view. It turns out it was just a bit more funky than that. When we got to our room, it smelled a bit off. We figured that it's just hard to keep rooms in a hotel on the ocean super dry and this was born out by both the smell and the mold that was a bit visible in the corners of the room. A bit more surprising was that there was water on the floor near the fridge and sink. It came back despite cleaning it up, so clearly there's a slow leak somewhere in the room. If it wasn't for us getting in late with two kids that needed to go to bed and only staying for two nights, we might have complained or tried to switch rooms. As it was, we just stuck it out. We stayed in a big room with a balcony and a "view". The first two parts were great. We had a couch (that folded out into a second bed) in addition to two queen beds that made having a family of four easy. The table in the room also made playing games and eating easy. The balcony was a nice escape even after the kids went to bed and second only to having two different rooms. The view turned out to be basically of the hotel pool even though the ocean was in the distance. It wasn't _bad_ per se, but certainly not the view of the ocean you might like. The last thing to talk about was the breakfast. The first morning we were there, the breakfast was so good that it had me thinking I'd give the place the bump to four stars. They had the now-somewhat-standard Belgian waffle irons and waffle batter, but they also had great pre-made western omelets, sliced sausage, and grits. Sadly, the second morning just didn't live up to the first. The western omelets were replaced with watery scrambled eggs and the sliced sausage was replaced with paper-thin, mediocre bacon. Overall, come here if you need a place on the beach to stay and don't have rental house, but don't expect it to be much more than a standard, slightly-older-and-worn-than-average hotel. read more

I don't understand why this property get such great reviews. We stayed here one weekend in March. The location is beautiful BUT, the hotel is in disrepair. The toilet ran constantly and intermittently flushed by itself. The refrigerator made a loud metal clunk at the end of each cycle. I let them know and they said they were sorry and they would pass it on to maintenance. No one ever came. This hotel was about 20% full when we were there. Why would they put us in a room with a view of the building next door, and such maintenance problems? In addition, the room was not cleaned very well. And the mattress really needed replacing. The location is beautiful. The beach is gorgeous. We were really looking forward to a nice stay, but it was hard to sleep. read more

The Corolla Hampton Inn is very nice. I'd say it is the nicest Hampton Inn I've ever stayed at. I was disappointed the balcony door was locked and the room had some dust as I discovered with my disinfecting wipes. The property is right on the beach just walk up the stairs and you are there to gorgeous views. I was only at the hotel about 10 hours as the tour bus arrived about 10pm so disappointed I didn't have more time to explore the property. But that is not the hotel's fault. I was able to see the sunrise! My room was quiet and a good size with the couch to sit and relax at and I did enjoy the ceiling fan. The midges (not biting mosquitoes) were on the balcony so that may be why the door was locked but I suspect it had more to do with being with the tour bus as other guests outside of the tour bus could open the balcony doors. The breakfast choices were plentiful. I'd stay here again if I made it back to Corolla. read more

Hotel is in a great location and the views from the third floor were incredible. This is definitely an older hotel in need of a facelift. First issue we encountered was being told the room we reserved online was not available and we were given the key to another room... which turned out to be someone else's room, as they had the TV on and all their stuff around the room when we walked in. Eep. We ended up with our beachfront room, which was nice and big, but it still had some issues. The toilet tank would not refill unless you jiggled the floating black tube piece. We alerted the hotel and they repaired this. But upon arrival I noticed food stuck to the bathroom counter, hair in the bathroom floor, and then there were the stains. There were white stains on the curtains. And there were brown stairs on the white lampshade, the ceiling, and the walls. Each of the chairs had a rainbow of stains on them. And the couch had an outline of someone's buttcheeks in the center of the cushion. We did our best to ignore these for our stay, but the rooms need a makeover, I think. Parking lot was also super dark, which is good for light pollution, but kind of scary when you're coming back at night. Maybe some low lit foot paths would be helpful? Or giving out flashlights to customers as they depart for evening activities? I'm not even kidding on that one. Staff was friendly, lobby is beautiful. Coffee offerings are fantastic, and breakfast is.. fine. It's about what you'd expect for free breakfast. You go here for the views, clean sheets, comfortable bed, pool, and proximity to the beach and neighboring attractions. It's affordable, and the staff is helpful. So I think that makes it a good place to stay, if you can overlook the needed upkeep. read more

Cherry on top of our family vacation in the OBX! This hotel was very nice and was great for our family. It's in a convenient location, it's close to the beach and close to some stores and restaurants as well. It's one of the only real hotels in the area, everything else is a beach house rental. The hotel was quiet and family friendly. The only complaint I have about this was that often, early in the morning you can hear the doors slamming from around the hotel. The doors are heavy and if you aren't careful make an awful loud noise when you let them go and slam shut, which is what was happening in the early mornings. Let's talk about some of the amenities this hotel has to offer! - There is plenty of parking, with lots of diamond member parking (I have stayed at multiple locations that only have 1-2 spots dedicated to this. This location had at least 10 and still had PLENTY of room for other cars, which was awesome!) There's an outdoor pool that's 5ft deep, with plenty of seating, a kiddy pool & a lazy river PLUS an indoor pool! They have beach access with showers to wash off after the beach, which is always a plus. Breakfast is offered every morning with an array of options. They alternate their hot foods, they have cereal, oatmeal, fresh fruit, coffee, a waffle maker with toppings, muffins, bagels, and more! The front desk has a giant selection of items for purchase (pop, water, energy drinks, wine, seltzers, ice cream, candy, chocolate bars, chips, medicine, snacks, travel essentials and more) for a decent price. Our rooms were cleaned daily, stocked with fresh towels, and freshly made beds without making a request at the front desk. Plus all of the employees were so kind and greeted us every single time they saw us. They were always so happy and friendly and willing to help out in anyway possible. They made our stay 10 times better with their upbeat personalities and smiling faces. The only downside of the hotel was that it could use some cosmetic upgrades. Our room had a few cosmetic upgrade needs (the screen door was off track, there was a small hole in the wall, and it looks like there is small water damage on the ceiling). I booked our room over the phone and confirmed and selected my room online. Upon arrival I was told we were in a different room. the room I booked was not available. They did on the next day move us to the room I reserved. This hotel is in need of daily maintenance. Our room had the following rust on the door hinges in the bathroom, a hole in the bathroom door, tile coming off the wall in bathroom, rust on the back of the bathroom door, the runner for closet door was completely rusted, carpet coming away from the wall in multiple locations, stains on the chairs for the table, pestilence door handle lock was broken. Our 2nd room the shower walls were cracked in several places, loose floor tiles. Sad that this hotel is in such a wonderful location and is very poor condition. Wear to start mmmm... ok I got it. This is a hotel that has just given up. It's October and I'm sure they have a staffing problem, but some of the desk people are just plain rude. I'm here with my family and there are 12 of us in 6 different rooms for 3 nights. All of us had something wrong. One of the sliding glass doors kept jamming, there was blood on the ceiling (hopefully bugs) in one of the bathrooms, one had a broken safe that had to be replaced, one room had a loose tile in front of the bathtub, and get this, one of the rooms had a canister of marijuana edibles under the chair. Mildew and dead midge flies were all over the outside of the building, lobby doors, balconies, and pool area. The place needs a good power washing at least once a week. Also, the paint is peeling off the ceiling above the hot tub and indoor pool. Again I get short staffing and end of season but the place was sold out this weekend! Their COVID protocols have housekeeping cleaning rooms every 4th day. Other hotels we've stayed at had it every other day. We called down for 2 extra pillows and they made us go to the front desk to get them. We also saw guests skimming the pools because they were dirty. What services am I paying for? This is why I don't stay at rental houses. I don't want to have to so do this stuff on vacation. If your going to have less services, lower your prices. I'm not crazy about bagging my trash and dirty towels to leave in the hallway every morning to receive fresh bagged towels (without replacement trash bags) every afternoon. Don't get me started on the little things like every time the guy above us opened his sliding door I heard it at 2/3 o'clock AM, or the fact the elevator stays where it left off. Why wouldn't it automatically go to the lobby? There are more people getting on at the lobby level than any other floor. At other Hampton Inns we've stayed, the elevators do this. Why not here? Don't get me wrong I know that some of the stuff sounds petty, but most of the other stuff is just plain nasty. My opinion, stay here at your own risk. Spacious rooms, not pristine but clean enough. Nice size bathroom. Tv is adequate in size, it's not a smart tv, and the guide didn't work. Lobby store for snacks, toiletries, and other essentials. Free hot breakfast, which I liked a lot. Dog friendly, whirlpool, lazy river, indoor and outdoor pool, hot tub, and it's on the beach! You can rent chairs and umbrellas, as well as bikes. Beds are okay. Pretty good water pressure in the shower. The refillable shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and lotion in the bathroom are a nice touch! It's a nice enough hotel but a little run down in places. The employees we engaged with weren't overly friendly but not rude either. My biggest complaint is the noise the doors make. They slam shut unless you take care to gingerly close them, and it's loud (in my opinion). The hotel was busy this weekend so I heard a lot of slamming of the doors in the evening and early morning which was aggravating. This was our third visit here in four years which tells you a lot that we like the area and that we like this hotel. Why write another follow up to my follow up? This time was different in that we were staying in season versus over Christmas and this time we stretched out our visit to an entire week which helps to give some perspective as to how this place operates. The best thing about staying here is location, location, location! Right on the beach and way out of the tourist areas of KDH and Manteo which is truly the best of both worlds. You get a lot of peace and quiet while giving up nothing in terms of proximity to the beach. The other good thing is that if you head north into Corolla proper there is a fair amount of entertainment, activities and food to keep you busy for a few days without needing to go through the headache of Duck traffic. In terms of service everything is truly top notch. I recognized during our stay a few familiar faces from prior trips and in talking with some staff they told me that the turnover rate here is very low. A lot of people have been here a long time. Always great when the houseman on your floor recognizes you from a prior stay over a year ago and gives you a big handshake while mentioning that if we need something to just ask him. Our check in process was a breeze and we got the room that I e-checked in to the day prior. The room itself was as expected. Two queen beds with a microwave, fridge and everything in order. Two minor negatives would be that the couch is very worn/soft. It felt like you would sink into the floor whenever you sat on it. We also needed to have maintenance spray our balcony for the mosquitoes (I forget the proper name of the bug) which helped greatly. The night we got there we couldn't go outside as they were everywhere and on everything. Housekeeping was perfect everytime we had them in the room. Breakfast is still a bit of a meh, as they don't rotate the hot items often enough. Five out of seven mornings it was either the cheese omelet or the western omelet. Viva Variety! Scrolling through some of the comments for this place makes me realize how warped perception can be. Over our three visits we've spent almost twenty nights here and honestly it's a great hotel that is very well run. I mean sure there are some things like the old sofabeds that hopefully get addressed sometime soon but overall for a Hampton Inn (Not a Full Service Hilton or a Waldorf) this one is fantastic and I look forward to many stays in the future. read more

Pros: -Location is excellent. This hotel is steps away from the beach. And while the pool isn't the most beautiful that I've seen it's clean and nice sized. Plus there is a small lazy river. -Rooms have a small outdoor terrace. We were lucky enough to have one that faced the pool / ocean. -Complimentary breakfast and cookies in the lobby every day -Good service. We had a few issues with the room and someone promptly came up to repair it. Cons: -The rooms are old and dated. The patio door barely worked and it was super dirty and rusty. The whole patio could have used a more thorough cleaning. -The drainage in the bathroom sink was poor. -Bugs everywhere. There were massive clumps of bugs in the stairwell that were not cleaned at all during the duration of our 3 night stay. Four stars because there were only some issues with cleanliness, but nothing major. If you stay here you are probably spending most of your time on the beach anyway. read more

This Hampton Inn & Suites has a great beachfront location in a top area of the OBX. Unfortunately, management has let the property run down so they can max out profits in the short term. This property isn't in terrible shape, but it has not been renovated, refreshed and upgraded to the standards of this chain. Also, they don't value their best customers. I am a long-time Hilton Diamond, yet the property management wouldn't offer an upgrade and charged us nearly $50 extra for a one-night oceanfront room, even though the property was mostly empty in January 2022. (Hilton systemwide unfortunately has eliminated standard upgrades to elite Hilton Honors members for their mid-tier properties including Hampton Inn, but individual property operators still can and often do often free upgrades when available to Diamond and sometimes Gold members, who often stay 30 nights a more at Hilton properties and spend many thousands of dollars a year at this chain.) read more

We reserved this hotel in the OBX as it was very close to my nephew's wedding venue. Upon arrival, the lobby was inviting and clean. As we moved further into the hallways, it was apparent that the hotel needed to be updated. Upon entrance to the room, the feel was one of uncleanliness. The carpet was soiled, the bathroom needed attention, dirty windows and sills, and a deck with spider webs, and insects in small crevices (inside the room). For the price of $279.00 per night, I expected so much more. Since my daughter says that I am a hotel prude and always find something wrong with my hotel room (which is not true :-), I decided that I was going to reserve any complaints. Then I saw a text message from the hotel asking if I was satisfied with my room (this must be a new thing), which was shortly after my husband's new shirt was spoiled with dirty brown steam water from an old iron. I then decided to share my experience via text and asked for a "new" replacement iron (which I know hotels have) as I used to work for Hiltons many years ago. I always ponder why hotels do not place new irons in guest rooms, to avoid such mishaps or at least periodically, steam out the old ones. I digress. Our oceanfront view consisted of looking at dunes unless standing to see a bit of the ocean. My Mom's, sister and brother's rooms were perfectly clean with beautiful ocean views (see photo). After many text exchanges, Glenn adjusted my folio to only one night of stay. So instead of paying 600.00 for two nights, I paid $315.00 (tax included). It still was not worth it because it should have been complimentary. For the rates charged, this hotel should be stellar and nothing less. If you have an option, stay on the third floor where you can see the ocean. read more

Cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in. Extremely friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Incredibly dog friendly. Our kids spent most of their time in the indoor pool (we were vacationing during a cold spell and 65° was a little chilly to be in the ocean for long. It was incredibly windy and people were constantly in and out on the beach and yet there never seemed to be any sand in the hotel! We sprayed off at the outdoor station but I'm sure we couldn't get it all. We were always offered fresh towels (we had our dogs with us so room housekeeping services were limited). The price was great and value exceeded our expectations. We will certainly be back! read more

Not sure how this place is in business considering how disrespectful and rude Kelly the lady who works at the front desk was to us supposedly lost our information turned out they misspelled my mom's last name there was mold on a lot of the stuff in the room air conditioner didn't work they only refunded us for one day despite these conditions and lack of courtesy this is just been a horrendous hotel stay and with the bottom of my heart suggest anyone who is considering staying here try somewhere else read more

Believe the low reviews! We have stayed here many times. The draw for my family was the location of the hotel in Northern Outer Banks-nice and quiet and right on the beach. It's on a fast decline. Not sure what the staff see but this is what we saw (see attached photos). I know we can get better accommodations. Hilton/Hampton Inns doesn't own that beach... it's free! You can do better and still have the beach. Hilton changed their policy a little over a year ago and now they allow animals. I saw over 15 dogs on my stay...it was raining... the whole hotel smells like animals and dirty, wet dog coats. It's gross!! It just feels dirty... and I can't take a picture of that odor... it will be evident as soon as you walk in your room or down the halls. Mold present. I told the front desk and they said they put in a maintenance request-the housekeeper didn't see that when she cleaned the room prior to our check in??? Not coming back. read more

We love the location of this ocean front Hampton Inn. The beach is fantastic. We had a partial ocean view room which had plenty of room and a sofa bed. You can see the ocean from the room. The unfortunate thing was that the room was actually less clean than the last time we stayed here in May 2019. I expected everything to be more clean given all the policies they state for their COVID 19 procedures. But the room was really dusty and the bathroom looked dirty. There were actually layers of dust on the walls of the room. I've never seen dust that bad in any hotel room. Thankfully I brought cleaning supplies with me. I found myself having to clean the dust off of the walls and furniture. Pretty gross. Especially given that we've stayed here before and didn't have a problem, it was disappointing. I let the front desk know and they said they would tell housekeeping. That didn't do anything to help our stay but I hope others find their rooms cleaner. Otherwise staff was friendly, they provided breakfast items to go, and we enjoyed the beautiful area. read more

A super nice Hampton Inn-very clean, and not the hotel's issue at all here-if you're into remote and maybe one pizza place delivering here 3 hours after you order and likely not the one you're thinking of-Corolla Pizza will not deliver to this hotel. With all the COVID-19 chaos and things still closed, or closing so early these days-I would likely recommend staying in Duck or somewhere with more options just now. Again, the hotel was great and the beach behind it was beautiful. But I kept it moving the next day as I do not travel to make do with a sub or leftovers. If that's not bothersome to you-great. But do know you've only got a mini fridge and a microwave to figure that all out within at this property. The norm and again a great hotel-just be prepared and do your research while choosing your OBX hotel area during this era. read more

This was just another of several stays I have had at this particular hotel. Overall, this was one where I found the hotel overall just lacking in some of the things it used to be. Sure, we've had a pandemic and there are some lingering labor shortages (especially in OBX)...so what is seen can't be all attributed to just not doing what they need to do because they don't want to do it. Rooms just seem not well maintained. I get that the salt water takes a toll that close to a beach, but that's why you need to invest more to keep it going vs letting it go to the point where it's noticeable to the point it has become. Bathrooms are more than just a few salt-effects but tiles that are dingy. The last stay was pretty much the same, but factoring in time between, this is about what I expected without much to keep up things as they should be done. Carpets...well...they need to install an LVP flooring next time they remodel as those have come a very long way and are a far better beach room surface, and some of them are almost indestructible for those I know are able to get commercial warranty. Breakfast was ok..waffles are good comparative to other places I've stayed. Meats need to be kept hotter though. Overall good, but the coffee is still bad all around in Hamptons so it is what it is and I go somewhere else for it. Pools are nice and appeared clean, though didn't use. Location is what you pay for here....too much, in my opinion, for what you get. You get a sparsely populated beach that actually had a lifeguard when I was there, with as good of a beachfront as you can get. Driving to the location from Kitty Hawk can take some time, so expect a half hour almost no matter what unless you're off season. Driving to the nearest grocery store (Harris Teeter) is pretty close as is the lighthouse in Corolla...roughly 3 miles at 35-45mph traffic most times we were there in late August. Parking was good...and we purposely picked a corner room in front to keep away from any noise (room 300). The balcony was a bit smaller, but being out of the beaten path made for it to be nice and peaceful....no noise at all. Room was good sized also. Internet was fast enough and free. Staff was decent and those I came across were friendly and helpful. Housekeeping...well, don't expect it as unless you specify you want it, you leave towels (and trash) outside your door to get replaced later...part of that staff shortage thing you'll find common in the area. The one aggravating thing is that even when I brought up that there was no TP or soap in the public restrooms, it was not replaced...not in the entire time I was there. Please get a larger bulk dispenser. I was tempted just to leave a dollar-store soap bottle there and would have if I stayed any longer. Would I return? If not remodeled soon, no. I've seen the beach enough to not want to go out of my way for it again at the price paid for the room. That it is not cramped in with other hotels and heavy traffic...that's nice if you want it. I spent many years in the hospitality industry, and I do fully understand what it takes to run and maintain a hotel and all the staffing and training needed. This one is just lacking in the details of how to do what should be done and someone in management needs to take a harder look at what the guest perspective is here. Hamptons overall have seemed to lack, along with other Hilton brands lately to the point I won't go to a Homewood Suites again, ever...and unless it's brand new, probably avoiding Hamptons also. Someone needs to get their act together in management and next time you pick a decor to do a remodel, don't go retro. Watch the details....we all see them as guests. read more

The hotel needs an upgrade. It's out of date and in need of various repairs. The lobby area is very nice as well as the free breakfast. But as you go down the hallways to the rooms it feels very musty. Our room was spacious but also needs a remodel. The shower wall was cracked and I believe interfered with the knob because we could not get the shower to stop leaking the whole time we were there. Not to mention the multiple spiders we killed in the corners of the room. I did not feel clean while staying here. Close beach access was the best part, making the location perfect. Our room was supposed to be "beach view" but our only view was the dunes as they're so tall. Overall the location was great and the rooms were average. Nice hotel. We had a quiet anniversary getaway. Aside from the rude employee in the first few minutes of getting there the rest of our stay was wonderful. It's right on the beach and even though it was really cold the beach is still beautiful! The room was spacious and cozy all at the same time. We will definitely be back. Except for the Continental Breckfast, this would rate a full 5 stars. My wife and I took a long weekend a couple of days ago. She had always wanted to see the wild horses of the Outer Banks so we drove down from just north of Charlotte. A bit of a hike but well worth it. The hotel is great. Layout is excellent and would be a great place for a conference. The beach of right over the dunes but also has three pools on the outside including a river pool for resistance excercize. They also have a heated inside pool and jacuzzi as well along with a fitness center. Rooms are big and well apportioned. Out room had a great view over the banks of the Atlantic. Biggest asset though is the staff. The front desk staff was very helpful and gave us great recommendations for dining and places of interest to visit. Glenn in particular had dynamite recommendations and being a native, pointed out I had been mispronoucing Corolla all of my life and I am a NC Native. He said that we meaning the locals, don't sleep in a Japanese Car but live in Ka -Raw-La with the accent on the middle sylable. Only down side was the Continential Breakfast. A less than stellar array of precooked moieties with the exception of the cook your own waffles. Other than this, it's great. Next time we will plan on having breakfast elsewhere and let it go at that. read more

This hotel was exactly what I was looking for, for a quick weekend getaway. It's perfectly located right between Duck and Corolla so there are a decent amount of dining options- even during Covid times. I had a Queen Suite with two beds, and sofa. It was on the first floor right next to the pool and it had its own patio that led straight to the beach. And speaking of the beach, it's 10 steps, okay maybe 15 to the beach from the hotel. The beach was beautiful, and not too crowded. Very enjoyable experience. I would rebook in a heartbeat. read more

Mixed Review. The good: beautiful, peaceful location. Such a contrast to crowded Nags Head and Kitty Hawk. The view from our beach front room was fantastic, especially at sunrise. The staff was friendly and in particular the gentleman at the front desk. The bad: This place needs a thorough cleaning. The carpets in the hallways are stained and filthy. Not appear to have been cleaned in years. Elevator floor was always sandy (wasn't cleaned our entire stay). Our bathroom had mold and wasn't the cleanest. Our private deck was unusable due to tons on dead bugs, spider webs, moldy appearance and grimy floor. And of course, it serves the standard Hampton Inn breakfast offerings despite the price. I realize that it is a challenge keeping a beach property clean, but this place looks like the housekeeping staff isn't even trying. read more

First of all if you don't like small mosquito like insects DO NOT BOOK this hotel. This hotel never mentions the bug situation when booking. They should have a warning of some kind telling customers that the hotel is covered in bugs. Do your self a favor and do not book the rooms with a view and pay extra. You will never be able to sit on your balcony or even open your screen. Very disappointing. The front desk offered us bug spray to spray for the live bugs in our room. The front desk is helpful unless you talk to Heather (she works mornings/day), she is not great with customers service and makes you feel like you are bothering her. Helen (she works in the evenings) is wonderful and extremely helpful. Make sure you don't ask for extra towels, you'll get serious attitude. The pool towels are more like hand towels. The tiles in the bathroom are either molded or broken, serious hazard if you have kids. The location is great for walking distance to the beach. Definitely not the Hilton standards that I am use to for this hotel. Extremely disappointed and shocked how much we over paid for this room. It was filthy and in serious need for an upgrade. read more

Room was clean and stocked with toiletries. Staff was not friendly, especially Jeff during breakfast. I informed him a waffle maker timer was broken and he flatly told me "use your eyes to see if it is cooking". Very rude. read more

We decided to stay at the Hampton inn here in Corolla because they are beach front and have a kiddie pool. I was disappointed that it wasn't lit up at night, but each pool is separated which is one less thing to stress over while traveling with little ones. The continental breakfast has been great and has different options each morning. The rooms are clean and very spacious. My one complaint is that we haven't even able to sit on our "waterfront" balcony because of the bugs. Night and day, it is covered in swarms of bugs. I'd recommend getting a balcony that overlooks the secluded and quiet parking lot, which still isn't a bad view! Very bummed we paid $50+ per night for these ocean views we aren't able to enjoy. read more

I was content with my stay at Hampton Inn located in Corolla. In terms of first impressions, this hotel looks...well...impressive. The grounds and exterior are very well maintained. Considering the hotel is located next to a very swanky condo chain and down the road from a couple of luxury hotels/resorts, this particular Hampton Inn definitely looks the part. We were happy with the ample parking, and number of carts for carrying luggage to rooms. We also thought the lobby area was lovely and we enjoyed having our breakfast there during our stay. There is even an interesting marine life art exhibit under glass. The room was decent. We thought the bed was very comfortable, but we didn't think the "partial view" of the ocean was worth it. I hate rooms overlooking the pool, so if you are anything like me - you may not be happy with the view. Many of the rooms facing the ocean look directly over the pool area. That being said, we didn't utilize the balcony much. Our trip was right before the Outer Banks busy season, so thank goodness we weren't met with loud splashing or screaming kids while we were trying to rest. My main pet peeve with our room was the slight mildew smell and the perpetual humidity. The ceiling fan helped, but our room was honestly more humid than outdoors. It made sleeping very uncomfortable at night. In order to avoid the humidity we had to crank the air conditioner up, but that meant being very very cold. The linens looked and smelled clean so that was a plus. The bathroom also looked and smelled clean and our towels were replaced daily. The only thing the bathroom didn't seem to have was a fan/vent - so it got very foggy during a shower. The pools left a lot to be desired. We took a dip in the indoor pool since the outdoor pools were very cold due to the chilly spring we were experiencing during our trip. I didn't think the pools looked the cleanest, nor the hot tub. We only hung around for a few minutes. The beach beyond the pool was quite lovely. We were surprised by how huge the dunes were. They provided a lot of shade. The water was still too cold to go into of course, but the beach was nice for a walk to look for shells. Lots of great shells on the beach! We were also so surprised to see tons of tiny holes from newly hatched baby turtles. The breakfast here was plentiful and had a reasonable variety of items. Standard waffle station, bacon or sausage, scrambled eggs (albeit frozen/powdered), boiled eggs, danish/bagels, a couple of fresh fruit options, yogurt, ect. The coffee was great. The juice was watered down. Wasn't fine dining, but yogurt, a boiled egg, and coffee go a long way for me. Check-in/check-out was relatively simple. I was charged more for my stay than I was previously quoted online. Annoying, but oh well. The hotel has very good amenities and is in a nice quiet area of Corolla. If you are looking for peace and quiet and don't mind less than luxury accommodations you might enjoy staying at this Hampton Inn. Our trip was so busy we really only slept here at night and ate breakfast in the a.m. However, we appreciated the hotel was close to a Harris Teeter and not terribly far from other attractions in the Corolla/Currituck area. It gets really really dark here a night though so be forewarned! read more

I was pleased when I walked into the lobby, it was decorated nicely; there were people sitting and chatting here and there on couches and at tables and it smelled like fresh baked cookies...probably because there was a giant plate of them at the front desk. NICE. The staff was very polite and professional, even greeted us by name as we came and left the hotel. Unexpected for a non-froufrou hotel. Rooms are big - ours had a decent sized oceanfront balcony, was beautiful when the sun came up in the morning. Nothing particularly spectacular but the beds were comfortable, the wi-fi was free and for those of us addicted to ceiling fans, they had that covered too. They have a free hot breakfast every morning from 6am to 10am - eggs, waffles, bagels etc. There's also a small shop that has snacks, beer/wine and a selection of foods you can heat up in your room if you'd rather spend your time on the beach than driving around and eating. REALLY wish it had a bar since nothing is within walking distance but other than that, I have no complaints! read more

I stayed one night and accidentally left my PJ's behind in the room. I called that evening after I realized my mistake. The cleaning staff said they weren't there. That's impossible! So, they must have kept them and not turned them into lost and found. I am so disappointed that the staff would be that dishonest. . read more
