Nice hotel overall. We arrived on a Friday night & Shannon checked us in. We had the last room reserved & it was a mobility & hearing impaired ste. We didn't need it for the accommodations but the room was spacious. Great to spread out. It had a refrigerator too. The bathroom was great & I liked the shower overall. The bed was a bit soft for me. Everything was clean! Easy check out on Saturday& we had a nice chat after our dinner with Shannon. On Friday . She is very kind. Close to the highway & anywhere in Laurel! I'm not sure why this place has such low ratings on Yelp. Our experience here was awesome, considering the last Hampton Inn we stayed at was so bad. This place is much newer and therefore much cleaner. Also, I would guess being that it is in the charming town of Laurel does help. Location, comfort, front desk check in, etc, were all great! The only drawback for me is that they don't provide K-cup coffee makers and use the cheap pillow-pod makers which I'm not a fan of. read more

From the moment I walked in the door, Keisha was having her lunch and she got up right away and apologized and came to the front desk and I said I am so sorry to disturb your lunch and she's like oh no big deal! After a long drive of seven hours in the car and a stop over in Meridian on all nights New Year's Eve, what a great welcome and making somebody feel like they were the most important guest in the hotel! Just okay. Good amount of parking. Slow service. Slow elevators. Some doors that should have been locked were broken or propped open. When we walked into our room it smelled a little musty and was at a balmy 76. We turned it down and the AC did work. The pool has seen better days, but the fitness center is nice and has a peloton! Breakfast is pretty typical. The room is nice but ours has a certain bad smell to it. I'm not sure what's wrong but I think it's in the carpet. I called to complain and the front desk staff brought up spray to help it smell better. The bathroom is nice and clean and there are plenty of towels. Our fridge has a foot missing so it is wobbly and almost falls over, so we stuck something under the edge of it. One really good thing is how many outlets there are. Not only 3-prong outlets, but also USB ports! Tv gets plenty of popular channels. Overall, like I said, it's just okay. read more

Dangerous Safety Concerns - At 1am we had intruders in our room. This was very close to being a life or death situation. It ends up that a family had a key to the same room number but in a another, nearby hotel (different brand, but owned by same person). So their key not only allowed them entry into the hotel after hours, but access to our room. Management and Staff was alerted, but nothing has been done to address the issue, other than offering a 1 hour late checkout. This is a very serious safety issue, one that almost cost the life of a child. Think twice before booking here. read more

This Hampton in left a bitter taste of Laurel Mississippi with us. The staff was grumpy and unfriendly. Not very helpful when looking for a place to eat or rest while we waited to check in. This hotel is new and was up to the Hilton name but had to drive into town to have my opinion of Laurel reversed. We were more welcomed in the local Applebees than at the hotel. Maybe Hilton should be aware and train the front desk staff with the Hilton way. Will not return to Laurel anytime soon. read more

I was visiting Laurel recently and stayed here. Other than the rude front desk before when I first arrived, everything else went great. All of the other staff was helpful and friendly. My room was clean and in good shape. The area surrounding the tub near the floor was a bit moldy and discolored but everything else in the bathroom was clean and in good shape. The morning breakfast was tasty and had lots of options. Also, they only charged $1.75 for their bottled sodas. Gym was decent and had a good treadmill. Overall a nice stay for a small town. read more

I stayed here for three days for work. This Hampton Inn was like a lot of other Hampton Inn locations. The staff here was nice and friendly. They had complementary breakfast from 6am to 10am in the lobby area and was as good as complementary breakfasts went. My room had two queen beds and looked clean. The carpet felt damp and I don't know if it was the humidity or what not outside going inside of my room. I just remembered other hotels I stayed in the southern states in the past had a similar feel. The beds were comfortable and I didn't have any issues sleeping. The free wifi was good for 24 hours before I had to login again. The walls were a little thin as I heard the baby crying in the room next to mine. As I had proceeded to write a review leaving a decent one either the minor complaint of the carpet being dirty. As I had told them and the company as a Warning for their next guess so they won't hear about it in the future. Which ya know since I have the family & friends discount this time And we were spending time with family I didn't sweat over it. Next thing I know, Cherelle calls literally tells me "you shouldn't complain because you got the discount..." now as I was processing why she was calling me about me mentioning the carpet being dirty (and harassing me) it was the day before i were to check out she THEN decided to offer to switch rooms. I declined knowing there was no point.... Long story short she proceeded to YELL at me angrily, made my daughter cry and fear that we were going to get kicked out OVER THE DAMN CARPET.... and yes I went in there and made a scene my kid was in full on fear mode what kind of manager does that?! HILTON NEEDS TO GET RID OF HER!! Cherelle's mouthy, loud, rude and vicious attitude is not something people should have to put up with when making a small complaint or a complaint at all. read more

On 3/5 we made reservations at this hotel for 3/15 - 3/18. We arrived from Texas on 3/15 to check in and was told by Cherelle, the hotel manager that they had overbooked and we had no rooms. We told her we had a reservation and had come from Texas. We were told by her that there are several hotels close by that we can check with for a room. When asked why we were not contacted, Cherelle said that they had been trying to learn a new system and couldn't call us. However she did inform us that the hotel was expecting a bus full of people coming that day. read more

POSITIVES:Facility was up to date, decor and furnishings top notch. Our room was clean and comfortable. We.had a king size bed with a queen sleeper sofa. Room also include a refrigerator (no freezer) microwave and coffee center. The continental breakfast was adequate ... Muffins, fresh fruit, packaged oatmeal, juice, hard boiled eggs, biscuits and gravy, waffles and pastries and coffee bar. NEGATIVES: Front desk extremely slow, but very friendly. Pool area was not serviced since prior day. There was a pile of wet towels and bathroom was filthy. I called front desk to ask for towels, which responded quickly. I come to Laurel occasionally on business. The first time, years ago, my client put me up in a bed and breakfast. It was quaint, but not really suitable for business travel. The second time I stayed at a Holiday Inn I think and it was ok. The past couple of times I've stayed at this Hampton Inn and it will be my go-to hotel in Laurel from now on. Positives: *Super friendly staff. The various ladies at the front desk were very helpful with all of my requests. *Gorgeous room. Honestly, I didn't know that Hampton Inns had rooms this nice. I remember being pleased with my last room (on an upper floor), but this time they put me one of their biggest rooms on the first floor. I typically prefer a higher floor, but this room was awesome (see pictures). Comfortable bed. Everything looked clean. I even had a nice, big faux plant. *Microwave, sink, and mini-fridge in the kitchen-type area of the room. This is a big plus since Laurel does not have enticing restaurants. The first night I grabbed some groceries from the Piggly Wiggly and was set for most of the week. It would only be better if the mini-fridge had a small freezer compartment. *Complementary breakfast in the morning. While the choices didn't wow me, it was certainly nice to be able to grab something to eat in the morning, even if it was just a banana or yogurt. *Work out room. I remember it being nice from my last stay, but didn't partake this time due to fighting a darn cold that zapped all the energy out of me. There really aren't any negatives, except that there's not that much to do in Laurel. But, that's not the hotel's fault. And, I was certainly content to stay holed up in my lovely room working and watching tv. read more

Stopped here for the night on our way to New Orleans. Hotel staff was friendly, rooms were clean, towels were soft and the hotel was quite. Bed was a bit too firm for my liking, eggs were cold when I went down for breakfast just after 9 am, but their coffee was good. Overall great hotel for the night and would stay again. Do yourself a favor if you're passing through or are in town, stop by Cosmic Cafe for their shrimp and grits, you won't be disappointed! read more

Upon checking in everything was great. Got to my room, no problems. Took a shower, and got in the bed. That's where it went downhill. I thought a mosquitoe had bitten me, but I kept feeling bites in different places. Turning the light on I discovered BED BUGS !! I stripped the down to the mattress and found several smaller bed bugs, AND a HUGH STAIN on the mattress. I went down to the front desk, although she had just started, she did a GREAT JOB !! She called the manager and he suggested he would cover a move to the Best Western next door. I was told that they had notified the manager that they ONLY had a smoking room, AND THE TV DID NOT WORK !! I returned to the Hampton, informed them what had transpired and the manager responded by saying I could get another room ...IN THE SAME HOTEL !! I declined as BED BUGS CAN TRAVEL via housekeeping or guests staying in multiple rooms. We then left for a hotel in Hattiesburg. A great place. I recommend SKIPPING HAMPTON INN & SUITES in Laurel, MS. I can't recommend a place in Laurel, but from now on we will ALWAYS stay at a Marriott property in Hattiesburg, MS. read more

At check in both key cards to one of our rooms didn't work so we had to get them reactivated. We waited on the front desk worker to get off the phone and help us for at least 10 minutes (it was the manager Cherelle). Then when we finally got into our room we were welcomed with the smell of sewage. They switched out rooms and everything was fine. Until the biker club checked in. Upon check in the club members parked at the back of the hotel and let their bikes sit and idle for hours and had their stereos turned all the way up and kept them that way until well after 11pm. We called the front desk at 10 to ask them to please tell the other guests to please turn the music down and be a little more respectful. We were informed they were there for a funeral. (Ok I can understand that but if people are complaining and can't get to sleep because of the noise something needs to be done). I have no doubt the front desk could hear the music easily and were just choosing to ignore it because they didn't want to be party poopers. For reference I could hear the music over a tv that another person in the room was watching and a sound machine, and through headphones. The music never quieted down until much later. It's also worth mentioning that the breakfast situation left so much to be desired. I know everyone is using COVID as an excuse but it's been a year. Overall the rooms were clean which was nice and other than the biker club it was quiet. I feel bad for the homeowners around the hotel that had to listen to the noise all night because management wouldn't take care of the complaints. read more

This looked like it would be the best option in Laurel, but it was a very negative experience. The internet did not work, the pool was cold (other reviews show this is a long-term constant situation), the tv would not work, etc. When we made report of the issues, they acted like something was going to be done and then hours later we'd find that no one was on duty over the weekend to address any concerns. We asked to speak to the manager on duty (listed as "on duty" on the sign at the front desk) and were told she went out of town for the weekend. The clerk said she would call her to see what could be done and, again, never called us back to tell us what they were going to do about it (i.e. change rooms?). When we called, the clerk nonchalently said, "The manager said she's not going to call anyone about it when she's out of town." So who is "ON DUTY"? No compensation was given for these amenities being out of service because we had used Hotels.com to reserve, and the clerk kept insisting that we had used Expedia so they were not going out of their way to fix anything. Uhmmm - are hotels not responsible for the welfare of their guests if they accept the reservation from one of these providers? Plus our child got flea bites all over him. With just one staff member on duty for such a large hotel, it brings serious concerns about safety and sufficient response in an emergency. Either Hampton's standards have fallen substantially or this is a very poor example of them. read more

This is my second stay for work at this hotel. The staff is always very friendly. On my last stay, they even called my co-worker to let her know she left a shirt at the hotel. I was able to pick it up at the front desk for her because I stayed an additional day. This week's stay, however, could have been better. The digital keys were never sent to myself or a coworker even though we used the app to check in. There was a huge stain on the ottoman in my suite, it didn't even look like they had attempted to get it out. Additionally, I found a towel that was left from a previous guest in my bathroom and an empty wine bottle in the cabinet. Just tells me that my room did not receive an addaquate cleaning if these items were missed last time around. read more

Worst bed I've ever slept on, extremely hard the flip side, the pillows are extremely soft and very lumpy. The toilet feels like I'm sitting on just the bowl with no seat, I actually had to check. Wifi doesn't work. I still have a long trip ahead of me. I will not be returning to any Hampton inns. read more

Worst customer service ever tonight. We booked a room with foldout couch and a king to fit 3 people. Not what we got when we arrived and was not offered a rollaway bed to remediate the issue. Hilton hotels know what they are doing. very clean, up to date, very quiet, comfortable, everything in the room worked well. the front desk was pleasant but slow. they will not move on the price unless you have AAA. the only hotel competition via advertisement would be the holiday inn express and for the same price this (hampton) was 2 stars better. read more

This has been our go to hotel every year for the last 3 years. We visit Laurel every Veterans Day and have chosen Hampton Inn due to great rooms and customer service!! I am not normally one to write bad reviews, as I realize no one or no business is perfect and makes mistakes. I also realize that this is a Hampton Inn...where expectations should be on the low side because the bed sheets are generally scratchy and the walls are paper thin. However, if I could rate 0 stars, I would because I have never had a customer experience quite like the one I had with the staff at Hampton Inn in Laurel, MS. Long story short, the hotel charged me twice for my stay. Instead of working to solve their mistake when I first called to report the issue, they refused to take the blame and said there was simply nothing they could do. After getting my bank involved, they reluctantly began to look into it (at their own leisurely pace.) On several occasions, the staff (several people in separate phone calls) raised their voice to yell at me over the phone, deeply sighed as I asked for simple requests such as receipt confirmations, interrupted me, and even hung up on me. The general manager, Marilyn, being one of these persons. If you HAVE to stay here or have to discuss any issues with the staff here, I suggest you request to speak with the assistant manager named Michael because he is the only level-headed person who works at this hotel. After the final phone call where the staff member taunted me to "go ahead" when I threatened to take the issue to the corporate level, I did just that. Corporate customer relations apologized profusely, obviously embarrassed for their branch and staff in Laurel, MS. They took over and handled the issue smoothly and calmly, like anyone who works in sales or a service industry should. As for this Hampton Inn in Laurel, you've been warned. read more
