What a cute place. This is Erin's store from the tv show Home Town on HGTV. Lots of home decor -painting- candled and lotions and hand crafted wood items that were made by Ben. I loved his deviled egg trays and cutting boards. Some of her Christmas was out so I got a new ornament for my Christmas tree. The employees were very friendly. The Laurel Mercantile is a must see for the ladies, they have cutest head bands like ones Erin Napier wears on the hit tv show HGTV Hometown, as well as bags, books, shirts and so much more. If the husband doesn't want to be drag to all the stores, send him down the road to the Husband DayCare (no joke) or the Scotsman- he might enjoy Ben's place. Laurel is a small but beautiful town and the Napiers have done a lot to invest in their community. I love the show and them as a working married couple. read more

We only had an hour on the ground because we were moving an airplane from Florida to Arizona. I ran in here to grab some gifts and the staff wrapped it all up in a jiffy. They advertise this store on Laurel's page and I noticed ppl congregating outside before they opened. We were staying in Ocean Springs MS and decided to drive to Laurel because my granddaughters love the HOMETOWN show on HGTV and we promised them we would get them something from the town. A lot of the places were closed because it was Monday and in February. The mercantile was open and the Scent Library was open too. The mercantile is smaller than what I expected but had quite a few items. The items are not cheap so be aware. The people working there were pleasant one lady was very friendly and talkative. It's a must see when visiting Laurel. Beautiful restoration to a downtown store. Little pricey on some things, but worth the trip.

Nice store if you want some Hometown momentos. Very clean and pretty. At the end still just another nice boutique shop. Everything was pretty pricey but your paying for the tourist merchandise (ex 23-26$ for a coffee mug, rolling pin 55$, oven mitt 35$) I will have to admit the oven mitts from old quilts was such a cute idea though. read more

Fun stop in Laurel, especially if you're a fan of HGTV's Hometown. The store owned by the Napier's is a quintessential view of what Laurel has become. It has handmade wood products from Scotsman, local art prints among other gift store items. It's just a quick walk from Ben's Scotsman store and workshop. I never seen the television show that everyone Associates with this store. I just thought the vibe if the store was pretty cool. There are a lot of stuff, some practical and some not so much, located within this store. I love these offbeat stores located in small towns across the United States. I wish I had more pictures of everything they had inside! The staff was super friendly and one knew a lot about Ben and Erin Napier, i can't remember her name but she was a joy to talk to. I really enjoyed my experience here. This location definitely has a lot of stickers and post cards if you want small souvenirs. This was the only location (over the Scotsman General Store and Scent Library) that I noticed with things for kids (like shirts and stuff). I'm sure I'm not alone in this, but Laurel Mercantile and Scotsman General Store were two main items to check off the list on our Laurel trip. Both were wonderful and both had elements that surprised me. First, we visited in the middle of the pandemic so their selection wasn't as complete as it would normally be, but I expected that having looked at their website before our trip. With that said, there were plenty of beautiful, sensible, American-made things to choose from and I overdid it as expected! What I wasn't expecting was the extra area outside the store. They have a steady stream of my favorite tunes playing and a cute little sitting area under the shade of a perfect tree. It's very Erin Napier (obviously) - perfectly nostalgic, totally free (and priceless) experience. We couldn't help but stop and sit, which was an unexpectedly sweet few moments for us. It's nice to slow down and look around from time to time, so I guess that's the gift Laurel Mercantile gave back to us in gratitude of us visiting. We enjoyed it very much. Beyond that, the staff was as friendly as everyone else we met in Laurel. It never ceased to amaze me how nice everyone in this entire town was. read more

I came all the way from Orange County, CA to visit Laurel! I absolutely love Erin and Ben and wanted to see what this place was all about. The store did not disappoint. Yes one would think it is a little pricey but try shopping in California. The prices are fair considering you are not buying something from China. It's well worth every penny and the quality shows! Most of all the people that work here are amazing! They are so kind and welcoming. This little town was worth the visit. I visited the Mercantile over this past weekend. This was my first time traveling since COVID began. I was disappointed to see that the store was not requiring masks by guests. Some people had masks on, but most did not. Additionally, the sign on the door said there would be a max of 25 people allowed. That was not enforced either. One of the employees was also wearing their mask improperly. I was disappointed and left. I didn't feel that the safety of your patrons was taken seriously. I ordered my husband the Scotsman Clyde Traditional flannel shirt. While he is usually a large, I went with XL so he could wear a turtleneck underneath. First of all, the quality is incredible! The flannel is a TRUE flannel, thick but not too thick. The pattern match is excellent, stitching well done and no loose threads/buttons. The bonus is 100% made in America! I ordered a piece of artwork through LM online back on May 15. It said to allow six weeks for drop shipping. It is now 9 weeks later, and I still haven't received the item. I have repeatedly emailed the store seeking answers. Last week, I received a 20% discount but still no update on when the item is expected to ship. The original price was $389. I understand that the painting is sold through a different vendor, but I feel LM should work with its chosen vendors to provide satisfactory customer service and timely updates, especially when the item is currently 3 weeks past its expected ship date. I love the show and everything that the team there is trying to do for the community of Laurel. But this experience has been very underwhelming. read more

My daughter and I love to watch Hometown on HGTV. We had to figure out a plan to sidetrack the men in our family over to Laurel on the way back to Texas from Destin. Enter Knight's Butcher Shop. My husband and son love meat and jerky especially so it didn't take too much to talk them into the detour. We also stopped by Sweet Something's and Lee's Coffee. We made it too late to try any of the other hot lunch spots a fellow Yelper, Mike, was kind enough to tell us about but hit those three he mentioned and really enjoyed walking around downtown. When we rounded that corner onto Front and saw the truck and painted wall on Laurel Mercantile my sixteen year old daughter squealed like she was four years old again on Christmas morning. We enjoyed looking at everything in the store and surprised by some very unique items. My son liked the whiffle ball and bat and I found a print of two whippets on a sofa that looked exactly like our two whippets at home. We would've left with those in addition to the cool t-shirt my daughter originally came for had it not been for a hasty promise to my husband not to get anything more to add to our overstuffed trunk with all of our beach gear. My suggestion is come with an empty trunk and make no promises ladies! We will be back next summer to try more of the restaurants and try to stay over here next time instead of Hattiesburg. read more
