Stay away from Hampton Deck and David Salerno they are bad news. Everything these reviews say are true and more. I have no idea how they are still in business it's unbelievable.The decks he builds are subpar. The deck he built for us a few years ago are now unstable and leak water behind them into the walls because he didn't use proper water proofing behind the ledger boards. We now have to redo these mahogany decks. He is a total wacko and mentally unstable. I cant believe he is doing roof decks now...look out below! I give him negative 1000 stars read more

David Salerno/Hampton Decks is the worst contractor I've ever worked with. He was AWOL on our deck project. He took our money and never completed the work. He dragged out the project for eight months and left us with an incomplete job full of safety hazards that we are now trying to clean up. Several of his service subs have shown up looking for money that he owes them for work that they did. He was good at being a salesman and a designer. He was also really good at concocting a myriad of excuses for not getting the work done, all of which have proven to be false. After years of working with reputable, good and honest craftsmen in the construction and renovation industry I was bound to "get taken" at least once in my life and David Salerno fulfilled that role perfectly! He continues to use a picture of my house on his website although the picture does not show any of the work he did. He is a good designer and salesman but obviously has a tough time delivering on his commitments. M read more

David Salerno/Hampton Deck is NOT a reputable contractor. He left the project unfinished and the work that was done was subpar. He to the money and walked away; he was virtually impossible to track down and when we did he was full of excuses. Don't trust this guy and don't use him for your work in NY or the Hamptons. read more

David Salerno is an excellent designer, builder and project manager. We are so happy with our new outdoor living space. He was able to integrate decking, patios and water features with unparalleled elegance and style. We did have a slight delay mid-project but we understand that permits can be hard to get approved in the Hamptons and there is no way for a contractor to predict certain types of delays. Everything came together so quickly and beautifully once we had all our permits in place and we are so happy we went with Hampton Deck. There is no other decking company in this area that could have given us the same quality results for the price we paid. You are making a huge mistake if you hire David Salerno/Hampton Deck for any project. Not only did he prove himself to be completely dishonest and left our project with 75% of his money and only 35% of the work having been done, but we later found out that he did the exact same thing to at least three other people in the area within the past six months. He seems to have made a career out of taking advantage of people, taking their money and not fulfilling his job. The 35% of the project that he did do included sub par materials, clearly the cheapest that were available, multiple safety hazards and many items that were not done up to code. As a result, we were forced to abandon key elements of our design and compromise a project we had put so much money and effort into. To start at the beginning, we signed a contract with him this past January and were told that the job would be done by March 1. When June rolled around and we still had a mud pit in our backyard it became quite obvious he had no intention of living up to any of his promises. All of his excuses about not being able to do the work from lack of materials, to lack of permits, to lack of workmen have all proved to be totally false. He lied to us continually and it became abundantly clear that he never had any intention of finishing our project. Clearly, he took our money, used it for his own purposes and by the time certain parts of the job needed to be done, he didn't have the resources to buy the materials or pay for the man power. It will end up costing us at least $20,000 over budget to get the job finished. It's now September and it's still not done. Multiple craftsmen have come to our property to finish the job and commented that when they were hired by him, he never paid them and lied to them as well. I could not be stronger in my warning to any potential home owners out there in the area who are looking for contractors to do projects. You are making a HUGE mistake if you choose to hire this person. Your job will be subpar at best, you will lose money and likelihood that the job will ever be done is scarce. The only positive things that I can say about him is that he has nice design ideas and he's a great salesman. Don't make the same mistake that my family did! read more
