We had reservations to stay for 4 nights. On Tuesday Morning (the day we planned to arrive) we…read morechecked the weather and tropical storm Fay was approaching Long Island and the Ocean Conditions were expected to be very rough along with heavy rain on Friday and Saturday. For safety reasons we needed to cancel. I knew I would lose my Deposit from my initial reservation back from January 22 of $195. We had 4 boats traveling together. The Montauk Boat Basin charged us the full amount of the trip plus the deposit stating that the Weather was not poor enough to give a full refund. No alternatives or options were provided. Fire Island Ferry cancelled trips on Friday in the bay because of conditions Due To Tropical Storm Fay - July 10th. There were also a small craft advisory for the route home. Fire Island Inlet NY to Moriches Inlet NY out 20 nm- 4:37 AM EDT Sat Jul 11 2020 SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING. TODAYS winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 6 to 8 ft. Slight chance of showers early this morning. I guess you would need it to be a Hurricane for the weather conditions to be considered poor enough for marine travel to be dangerous. I am sure it is a beautiful place but we needed to make a decision based on the safety of our passengers and boats. This was the response to My question via email: from Montauk Marine Basin: My policy applies to the entire stay similar a hotel stay. I have a full marina and i blocked off those slips for Four boats and turned other boats away. The weather was not poor enough to give a full refund. I am sorry that you interpreted my policy that way. You canceled the day of the start of your stay I'm sorry, but I will not be giving you a refund. If the Montauk Boat Basin is willing to work with us I would retract this review but I had made every effort to no avail at this point of time.

We are in EH at least 2x during the summer and as my son has gotten older we've looked for low commitment but high entertainment activities- paddle divas checks all the boxes. They've got adult lessons, you can book solo time (a first for me this past June with Paddle Divas), yoga classes out on the water, and a kids adventure club. If you have any hesitations at all, they make you feel comfortable and confident and will outfit you with the right equipment / board to make sure your paddle time is safe and you build confidence. My 8 yr old loved his 2 experiences this past week at adventure camp and is already asking if he can go again next year (yes!). The camp took a little paddle field trip to the East Hampton Shellfish Hatchery and got a glimpse into some local environmental work being done. A cool experience that offered a bit of a local touch. We just loved our experiences this summer and we couldn't recommend Gina and her crew any more. 5 stars.

My kids really enjoyed the relaxed no hype time and want to go back right away. Be careful driving in and backing out. Easy enough process and we were booked for the afternoon. Things were running a little late but no big deal by us - we passed the time in the area and headed back. We killed another 10 minutes petting the very friendly goats wandering about before getting saddled up for a ride. Our guide was a very young but very knowledgeable girl our from NYC for the summer. She was so sweet and my wife chatted with her about horses the entire time we walked the trails. Wise beyond her years is an understatement. She was a joy and we're both terribly sorry we didn't seem to catch her name. The trail was easy and quiet. We trotted a few times and our guide checked on us every 5-7 minutes to make sure we were comfortable and feeling good. She noticed my saddle slipped right away and guided me through fixing it. Total pro! We did an hour - it was a bit much for me after around 40 minutes but I'm not an experienced rider so maybe that's why. The trail is a loop so don't expect a full hour of unique sights. However, we really found it peaceful and enjoyable. It was $75/each which we felt was fair. Two tips: 1. Cash only, so bring enough! 2. Tip your guide!
