In town for a couple days so caught a game

Nice stadium. Lots of entertainment action between innings. Several expensive food options. Tickets were reasonable. We were 9th row behind and right of home plate. Went and sat in grassy area while we ate It was cooler there with a breeze blowing in.

OK. I've been documenting this ballpark since the beginning, literally from the ground up (http://croxton.net/hammonsfield/const_pix1.html), and I can tell you there is no finer, pure baseball experience to be found. Placed near the east end of Springfield, Missouri's Jordan Valley Park, it mixes the traditional with the modern without going to far on the latter. There are a few of the newer "family' amenities (basketball hoop, blow-up kiddie stuff), but again, it's more understated then most of the newer MiLB AND MLB ballparks. Are you coming to watch baseball and pass the love of the game on to your kids? Or are you wanting to drop them off at micro 'Wally World' so you can passively watch the game and get drunk with your buddies in peace? `Nuff said... Hammons field is an absolutely wonderful place to see a ball game, with very passionate fans right in the heart of Cardinal country (and I'm a Cub fan!!!). If you are in the area during the baseball season when Springfield or even the Missouri State University Bears are in town, try your darndest to check out a game at 'The Jewel of Jordan Valley Park'.

What a great ballpark!!! Very affordable entertainment. Inflatables for the kids to play on. Can't wait! Louie and Fetch are very interactive with the crowd. Awesome atmosphere. Seating in grassy area in the outfield. Great place to get a home run ball. Lots of giveaways too!! Go baby birds!!!!

It's a ballpark. If you're in the mood for baseball they provide pretty much what you'd expect, just a little bit cheaper.

Inexpensive tickets. Very close to Missouri State University. For students, this is a great early fall night out.

This is a great prestigious old school that offers a first rate education. The option to take night…read moreclasses instead of overpriced, overcrowded day school courses was for me a no brainer. The night school instructors were all really cool, and understanding if you had to work a long day shift job before you got to class. The professors in general are a bit of a hit or a miss, especially in online courses. Some are excellent, with long histories of teaching and with doctorates degrees that they use to provide the best quality classes every single day, and other professors make your life difficult for no reason, and couldn't care less if you even show up at all. The campus is beautiful and you feel a great degree of history here. I attended here for two years after transferring from another school, and I feel like I never fully explored the place. The campus security is a bit over the top, since I got a parking ticket when I was still enrolling and wasn't yet a student for parking in the wrong direction. I didn't know any better and managed to get it dismissed, but it was a bit of a weird charge. I can't give Drury 5/5, simply because of the price. With a private school, you don't expect tuition to be cheap, but this school is EXPENSIVE. There's really no reason for day school to be so exorbitantly costly, unless you're purely paying for the degree. Outside of the cost, Drury is a good school with good instructors that is generally well worth your time.

So yes this is also a very bias opinion. I go to and work at this university. Have for six years…read morenow in total and wanted to contrast the opinion from so many years ago. Education: This place is first rate. The professors are some of the best in their fields, the class sizes are around 20 students, and coursework current. In my time as a student here I've been taught by retired FBI Directors, Judges, and professors that hold one if not more doctorates. Classes are challenging but also fair. I really can't say enough about the education here. Life: Drury has a large extracurricular activity catalog. There are tons of groups of various sizes, purposes, and commitment levels. You really can find a group or hobby that fits almost any interest. We recommend them to students to help them adjust to campus life. We also have a thriving Greek organizations but in contrast to the first reviewer who was a student of mine the groups only make up 27 percent of the student body. A large amount buy by no means a most of the campus. We have an outstanding Campus Recreation office and they hosts intramural for tons of sports. Administration: Dedicated to see you graduate and being a good thriving individual in your next adventure. I had to giggle a little at the first review and think back to an 80s Evil Dean character. If you want an honest answer yes you will be ticketed for violating policies and the process is designed around learning outcomes. Plus I challenge you to visit the university website and review their community standards. I'm sure you will find the policies fair and very similar to that of any university or community for that matter. I can honestly say its not a violation factory but when you are working with people who are on their own for the very first time boundaries are often tested. Overall and in a very bias way I am proud to be a Drury student and Staff member. This university has given me a sense of pride and accomplishment that I can take with me the rest of my life and an education that promises to make that life an interesting one.

You pay full price to get into a two hour window of skating, they don't tell you when you pay if you are 5 minutes into that window or an hour and forty five minutes into that window. You would think they would say, "oh, you know you only have 20 minutes left to skate, right?" Nope. They'll take your money and blame you for the confusion. Then when you finally get out to skate, they clear the floor every couple of songs in order to play some stupid game that almost nobody wants to play. THEN they kick all the kids off the floor so that only adults can skate the last song that THEN opens the floor up for the next hour to ONLY adults. I swear, I have land, money, time and now desire to open up a skate park that is actually nice and doesn't have owners that are trying to fund their retirement and their grandkids retirement off the backs of their skaters, which really wouldn't be THAT bad if they offered a beautiful place to skate. I've only had this fire lit under me two other times in this life but I've accomplished my goals both of the other times and this time I am going to start tomorrow on working on this. I want this place out of business or completely reformed by the end of summer. They have become complacent by being the only place here in Springfield. I am going to change that. This place reset their hours during Covid, they crapped over their customers because they can. I aim to change that. I am SHOCKED at the ineptitude being practiced at this place. And the arrogance of the owner blew my mind. I have no words. I'm speechless. I am actually pissed to the point of doing something. Skateland, count your remaining days.

I also have started bringing my own skates. However, if you don't have your own, roller skates are included in your entry fee, but roller blades are an extra cost. They recently redid the rink during COVID, so the wood floors are nice and smooth now! They have arcade games, a mini cafe with snacks and concession foods. There are also lockers that you can rent for a quarter to put your shoes and keys in while you skate. It is definitely a mom and pop kinda feel, family owned and run. Pre COVID, there was one adult skate night where they handed out cupcakes for the owners birthday. Another time we showed up to skate for the last half hour and the lady at the front counter gave us a discount since there was only a little time left to skate. I don't ever expect this to happen again, but it was a kind gesture that you really only get with locally owned places. My one complaint is that they play the same 90s rap music during Adult Skate Night. I wish they would mix it up. However, I'm so glad there is a skate rink still open and operating in Springfield.
