Beautiful mural

From the Japanese Gardens to the Butterly Gardens to the Homestead Garden to the Ethnic trail of trees to the many other features this is one of the most beautiful and well kept botanical gardens that I have ever visited. The Butterfly Garden and the play areas capture the childhood heart and mind keeping them fully entertained. Plenty of parking, a visitor center with bathrooms, library, store, snacks and an MSU extension. I will be back to visit the multiple festivals in the coming months!

Beautiful butterfly!

What a "hidden" gem! This place is very beautiful. We didn't have a lot of time on the day we stopped by, but we will be coming back soon! The main reason we went by, is that it appears a lot of people hide painted rocks in the area. We were looking to find some, and the park didn't disappoint! We found about 4 in a small amount of time. We were first greeted by the beautiful and wonderfully smelling rose garden. What an amazing place! So many beautiful varieties! And of course, nature called, and we made our way to the main building and used the facilities. The building is beautiful and very impressive. The City of Springfield should feel pretty amazing with this free space open to the public. We then wandered down to the butterfly garden and we were all blown away! We saw a butterfly emerge from a chrysalis right in front of us! Some butterflies landed on us and the gentleman that was in there was very knowledgeable and helpful. It was really a special treat. We then saw the iris and daylily garden and were completely blown away again! So many beautiful varieties! The colors are insane. The people that are volunteering and working at this garden are doing a tremendous job and their work should be applauded. Very very beautiful gardens! We will be back to explore more of this amazing space! Thank you!

Nice gem I found looking to take my grandpa to when I visit. When we had arrived it was nice partly cloudy day, but being this is the midwest that can change in a blink of the eye which it did. What little part we were able to enjoy we loved it. My grandpa had fun in the butterfly house, giggling at all the butterflies flying around him, my sister had 1 that kept trying to leave with her lol They were in the processes in planting many of the flowers and I look forward going back this summer to see everything they planted in bloom. Really happy this is not to far from my grandpa's place so we can enjoy nice walks and he can enjoy the flowers, which he misses his garden when lived in Socal. So this perfect place for him to explore and point out all the different flowers he likes.

Phelp's Grove Park - The rose garden at Phelps Grove Park is a must-visit.

Phelp's Grove Park

I love this Springfield park perhaps most of all. I love to trot down here for a good run, and…read moreevery time I do, I feel like I see something new. I see birthday parties; I see families, couples, people walking their dogs; I see LARPers (look it up); I see potlucks; I see high school science projects; I see track teams; I see lone runners. This is a great place to see the Springfield community at their happiest and most relaxed. Not to mention it offers an impressive amount of amenities: a few tennis courts, a full playground, BBQ pits, a sprinking of permament art installations, and a very nice, covered communal area. This is a very old park, and the practicality of it paired with all the old stone work and giant Oak trees makes for a unique place to stop and unwind alone or with your favorite people/pets. A few other reasons why Phelps rocks: it's in a gorgeous, well-established neighborhood full of interesting and well-maintaned forever homes and it's right next to the beloved art museum. It also has a righteously awesome butterfly garden (you'll see it if you look in the direction of the museum from the park itself), and walking through it in the summer is legitimately like walking in a dream. It's quite lovely. One word of advice I can provide is that this park is also historically a not-so-good place to visit after nightfall, as most Springfield parks are. Get your recreational fix in before sunset and call it a day, unless you're with a group.

There is a concrete pad that fits dozens of people for the event. It was really perfect and I absolutely enjoyed myself and the Yoga. As for the rest of the park, there's a lot of room to run around and have fun for both kids and dogs, there are tennis courts and picnic spots, and you just really can't go wrong with an art museum bordering one side.

The Gardens Assisted Living and Memory Care

The Gardens Assisted Living and Memory Care

Review of The Gardens Memory Care…read more Parent with a diagnosis of Dementia of Alzheimer's type was there just under 6 months when they requested we find another facility. This was due to increased falls and cognitive decline resulting in mobility issues. We were informed the facility was not staffed to provide walking assistance or wheelchair transfers. We were advised to apply to skilled nursing facilities, but several rejected our request since there are no health issues other than dementia that require skilled care. Administration promised to help find a new facility. However, it became apparent that their "help" was only sending out more referrals to other skilled nursing facilities with no regard to ratings or location. During this process, parent was suddenly moved to a different room with no prior notice. We expressed concerns that this was not in the best interest since we would be relocating to another facility soon. Our concerns were dismissed and the move occurred in less than an hour! This was a direct violation of patient rights of having a written notice before changing rooms or roommates. On the positive side, the CMTs and aides were extremely kind and attentive. These providers were expected to care for residents' needs, dispense medicines, unlock door for visitors, take phone calls, plate food that was sent from the Assisted Living side, serve meals, and clean up. Often there were only 2 people on the floor to do all of these tasks. Needless to say, there were times meals were late due to lack of help! Bottom line: This is Level 1 Memory Care, so as disease advances, they are not equipped to handle the decline. Administration talks a good talk, but it pretty much ends there. While we recognize this is a business, we believe better communication and understanding toward patient families are necessary. The staff members who care for residents are compassionate and positive. They bond with residents, and it is apparent they truly care about them. Staff deserves a 5-star rating, but the overall facility rating is lower due to administrative decisions.

I was very impressed and will definitely put this independent living home complex at the top of our family's list to consider and learn more about. Thank you to the associate that was so kind and gracious to show me around. This is such a big decision for a family to make and you sincerely made me feel that each resident is important there.
