Plenty of people recommended this place to me saying this is the best Jamaican patties in Broward, so I wanted to find out for myself. I ordered two spicy chicken patties and one beef patty with one coco bread ofc. The coco bread was the softest I've ever had and It tasted amazing. The spicy chicken wasn't too spicy but super flavorful. There was plenty of filling too. The beef patty was super tasty also and I enjoyed it very much. People also recommended trying their pineapple juice. Now whether it's homemade or not I couldn't tell but it was so refreshing and complimented the meal perfectly. I've tried a lot of different Jamaican patty restaurants and I believe Hammonds bakery is up there with the best of them. Highly recommend trying this place. read more

I live in another State and went to Hammond's Bakery, bought some items and ordered and paid for 2 dozen patties. This was on the Wednesday,patties were to be picked up on the Saturday at 11.00am. I arrived there on the Saturday at 12.45pm. Was told that the patties were not done, he was surprised to see me! Keep in mind I'm leaving for the airport later on that Saturday. I was to receive them frozen, but he said he would have them ready in a couple of hours. I asked about compensation for my extreme inconvenience,and he laughed. I then went to my vehicle, immediately returned to the store and told him I wanted a refund on the cocktail patties. Which he did. I have been going there for years, no more. Also, the store is very rundown. The sign in front is almost illegible. Inside, is very rundown also. Needs painting and cleaning up. Fixtures etc are outdated and very old looking. I was in the mood for a flaky beef patty so I decided to try a different spot and give Hammond's a chance. The restaurant is a quintessential hole in the wall Jamaican bakery. Zero frills. I decided to try the spicy beef and the cheesy beef and a coco bread. They both had good flavor and a flaky crust. Haven't been to this establishment in approx. a year at 4224 nw 12 street lauderhill, Fl. 33313. So went there on the 21 July 2023. Wasnt annoyed by the rise in beef price. I bought 3 beef patties at $8.25 total with taxes added .58 for total $8.83. Suprisingly as I check my receipt. They decided to tack on a 30 % unauthorized fee on my card for a whopping $2.65 now grand total of $11.48. Bear in mind this was a take out ,not a eat in diner, which they dont accomodate. A couple of friends recommended I visit. I was not disappointed. The beef patties are very tasty with a golden flaky buttery crust and well-seasoned beef filling. I tried both mild and spicy, and spicy had just enough kick. Coco bread was also soft, perfectly browned. Customer service was good. Packaged each customer's order with care, no-rush pace, while singing. Limit of 4 customers allowed inside at one time, stickers on floor for social distancing. Various specials offered. Very strange aftertaste. To the point that my family and I could NOT finish. What upsets me most is why is the meat soooo runny that all the meat in the patty goes to the bottom!! Why?? Bought 7 curry chicken and ackee and salt-fish patties but threw them all in the trash because the filling had an overwhelmingly strong vinegar taste. Best beef patties on this side of the world, but on my last visit there Ackee and Saltfish patty.....*speechless* It is a small store front and tiny shop that is most of the time always full. They are in high demand so they run out of popular items frequently but try and restock just as fast. It is so worth it. I'm not really a fan of some of their baked items but that's a preference. Have been to Hammonds a few time the crust of the patty was tasty but the patty was flat just a tat of meat was in the casing I call them and told them about it Me thinking that they had improve because I hear that the patty was on point. Yes on point is rite.I bought some patty a few days ago The patty had some meat like substance oozing out of the casing. I was too far away to return back. I put a post on fb with out their name only location there is 3 of them them close by. First and last time, I gave a 2 star because I bought what they call guava/guava cheese tarts, I actually wanted plantain tarts, but they had none. I got home and after dinner I thought I would have one for dessert, but it was the worst pastry I ever had, they were stale/old like they have been sitting for couple of days, they had no filling inside only the red color that looks like jam, to say the least I had to throw them out. I was told this was the best place to pick up some authentic Jamaican patties. I am not an expert when it comes to patties but I can tell you these patties did not win me over. They have a great flaky crust but the filling (meat) looks like like some purée much like baby food. They only offer take out no tables or seats inside so we had to eat them in the car. That was a huge error on my part. They were freshly made and very hot but the crust could not hold in the puree contents and it spilled out onto my clothes and car. Seems you cannot eat these while the crust and contents are hot. Honestly I do not care for Hammonds patties. My palate may need some fixing up based on their excellent reviews. OMG I am abandoning Golden Krust for this place. Thanks to a friend of mine who told me about this. It's like a couple parking lots down from Golden Krust. Parking can be a mission as their are other businesses there as well as a park across the street. But be prepared when you first enter the bakery. The smell of fresh patties are going to smack you! Like literally. Service is a good pace as they get a lot of traffic. Their patties are fresh and flaky. The crust is pretty thin so forget about driving on the go, lol! Though it been ages since I've last had a patty from here prior to today....I've always preferred Hammond's beef patties. Goes back to my college days. The meat is more flavorful and though the crust is thinner than the usually patty place, it is my preference. I'd rather have tastier meat, as opposed to biting into a patty that's all crust or the meat is dry. I really wish I could give them no stars. I've been coming here for over 10 years and never have I seen this type of behavior nor food served from this establishment. To begin I walked in and they were out of my favorite drink and had to mix the remainder with another flavor. No problem I leave half way through my Jamaican patty I noticed foul still on the patty and curly strand of hair. I go back to confront them about this and the skinny male server asked me "what am I trying to do Expose them" I was offended immediately not only did I serve me food with hair in and but your not sorry about it.
