They made the whole process of checking in so much easier by asking for a list of the guests and checking them in. Make sure guests know they MUST wear a bathing suit to get in. While I appreciate the facility's commitment to safety, I believe this policy may benefit from review in certain circumstances. My five-year-old is slightly under 48 inches tall and is a capable swimmer but he was still given a yellow bracelet because of his height. During our recent visit, a staff member (she seemed to be the one in charge) told us about the arm's length requirement while my son was playing in the shallow toddler pool area, which only reaches ankle depth. I fully support close supervision requirements in deeper water or for infants and young toddlers. However, the current policy creates some practical challenges in the toddler pool area: 1. The shallow depth of the toddler pool presents minimal risk for older children who can swim. 2. Multiple parents attempting to maintain arm's length proximity in a confined space leads to congestion and difficulty navigating around one another. Which can make things even more difficult trying to keep an eye on your child and your child's constant movement when you have a parent in front of you trying to keep an eye on their child. 3. The policy becomes impossible to enforce when children use the toddler play structure and mini slides, where parents cannot physically maintain arm's length distance. Maybe some parents can fit going up the structure, but we certainly cannot fit going down the slide. We would have to go back down the steps of the play structure and then try to get to our child who most certainly is farther away from us because kids do not sit still. I believe a modified policy that considers both the child's swimming ability and the water depth would better serve families while maintaining appropriate safety standards. Perhaps children who demonstrate swimming competency could be permitted greater independence in ankle-deep water, while maintaining stricter supervision requirements in deeper areas.

There was a nice covering over the tiny slide and shallow area when the kids need a break from the sun. We also grabbed food while we were there. It was decently priced and taste for a small waterpark. We were able to get a personal pizza, chips, drink, and fries for $10. Pretty typical food selection/prices for an amusement type place. We will be visiting again! It was well suited for my 2 and 5 year old. I can't review any of the rest of the park as I went just to go to the toddler area.

One of the biggest issues was at entry. The host of the party was not clearly informed that she would be required to pay for all party guests at once. She had assumed each guest could pay individually, so this came as a surprise at check-in. The manager on duty explained that while it wasn't a contract requirement, it was their preferred and "most efficient" way of handling party admissions and that they were asking all parties to do it that way that day. This created confusion and inconvenience, especially for parents who were not prepared for it. Food service was another letdown. Outside food wasn't allowed, which is understandable, but the available food options were very limited and not good quality. The pizza was especially disappointing, the crust tasted stale and had an unpleasant, almost frostbitten texture. I also ordered walking nachos, and they were made immediately but then left sitting while we waited for chicken tenders. By the time everything was ready, the chips were soggy and the toppings were cold. When I asked if they could remake them fresh, the staff began talking and laughing among themselves, which came across as unprofessional and dismissive. The park itself was not overly crowded, but there were several rules that didn't seem to make much sense and took away from the kids' enjoyment. The party host also mentioned she was not told the party area would include sand. This was frustrating, as it meant constantly rinsing sand off before going back into the pool area. I also noticed sand at the bottom of the pool, which wasn't very appealing. Overall, the park felt outdated and overpriced for what it offers. Between the confusing policies, underwhelming food, and lack of clear communication, I wouldn't make the drive to return. It has potential, but it definitely needs improvements in organization and upkeep.

For years, there's been a crack that causes water to leak out and flow into the street however in 2014, the opening week, a section of the pool collapsed and sank a couple of inches. Patrons keep stubbing their toes and/or cutting their toes on the edge of the cracks. I was surprised this was not identified or fixed before opening the pool. Historically, the pool has had problems finding lifeguards who were focused on the safety of the patrons. Many parents would have to complain to the pool board before they would address our concerns about the guards goofing off and/or not even watching the pool. This years guards mostly came back from last year and under the current Pool Manager's guidance, I think we will have a nice, SAFE summer! This is the best group of guards I can remember in 12 years. If the Pool Board were to invest in the repairs of the pool and make it physically safe for the patrons and not literally wastefully pouring 100s of gallons of water out, I would immediately increase the number of stars on my rating for them.

We've never gotten food before for volunteering at swim meets! As for the pool itself, it's got plenty of parking and has good shade cover over most of the pool in the mornings. There is an awesome snack bar (Shark Shake) offering warm food including mozzarella sticks and pizza. Some of the facilities were a little older (eg, the bathroom), but I like to think the pool has chosen to spend its money on things like being hospitable and offering food to volunteers. This is a great community pool in the middle of a neighborhood that I'm sure is valued by the people who live nearby.

This recreation center is located in Dale City on Minnieville Rd. It has parking and is your…read moreneighborhood recreation center with an indoor pool with laps, hot tub, lockers, basketball court, very small reformer Pilates room, and dance studio. During the weekends you'll see the pool taken over by youth swim lessons. The deck is very small/narrow. When walking you might bump into a lifeguard walking and doing their job on the deck. It feels tight. There are no high bleachers so come early to find a good spot to watch from. They do have benches surrounding the pool on the deck. The center is an older center but has all your basic needs. Locker rooms don't appear the cleanest but has showers. The shower water goes from warm to cold when more than 1 or 2 are using it. This location also has a preschool with a small playground on site.

I love the community atmosphere at NSSC. Everyone is so friendly and the swim and dive team…read morecoaches, members, and families make my children feel like all-stars even when they finish last. There a lot of social activities (float nights, water aerobics, trivia and movie nights, a chili cookoff, and the most family-friendly and best flamingo party by far), and one of the club members volunteers as our local DJ--he is fantastic! It's so nice to not have to cook two evenings in summer. Wednesdays the grill is fired up with hamburgers (usually $3) and hotdogs (usually $2) along with chicken, tacos, or brisket, depending on the night; Fridays we have a food truck come. The snack shack has health options and probably more selection than some larger neighborhood pools. My kids (now 9 and 12) practically live at the pool all summer long. It's great that the older teens and younger kids (even at 6 and 7) all play together--volleyball, foosball, jenga. It really builds a sense of a village. And it's been fun watching kids who were in elementary school when we joined now be lifeguards. The tween/teen swim team members teach the littles (3+) to swim through our Little Flippers Program, which is ridiculously inexpensive! Both of my kids are graduates of that program. There is a lot of shade during the day which is great for a break from the bright sun. The price may be shocking, but it is well worth it.

There are also tennis courts, a volleyball court, a playground, and a baby pool. Special events like movie night, trivia night, and float night are so much fun. During the pandemic, I have been very impressed by how safe they have kept things with social distancing, mandating masks, keeping tables apart, and having families reserve lanes for swim. The pool board is very active and keeps adding new and awesome things to the activity schedule.
