When we bought our house, we noticed it didn't have AC installed but figured we'd be fine - we didn't have AC in Oakland so Martinez should be the same right? Well, after the warm weather last week we realized we weren't going to survive the summer with no AC. We called around a few different companies and ended up hiring Hammer's Heating and Air Conditioning to install an AC unit and hook it up to our existing furnace and central ducting. The owner Mike Hammer quoted us a very reasonable price, then came out today and did the entire job himself in a matter of hours, including installing a new smart thermostat and testing the whole system to make sure everything works. We now have a super efficient, slim Trane unit and are prepared for whatever weather gets thrown at us! read more

We had an issue with our air conditioner. it wasn't working! Lol. Called Hammer's. Mike the owner came out that day and troubleshooted the issues. He had it fixed within 2 hours. He was great. We were back in the cool that night. read more

If you need help with your HVAC system stop looking for someone and call Mike. Truly, he is the best. He really helped our family when our system wasn't working and the house was so hot for my three month old and three year old. We had someone else tell us we needed to completely replace everything and that it would cost $30,000, but when Mike came over he found that the problem was very simple and overlooked by the other guy. We are so incredibly grateful for his great service, kindness, speedy response, and overall genuine and understanding demeanor. We will definitely be hiring him for all of our HVAC needs. read more

Hammer's Heating has taken good care of our commercial rooftop units for years. Mike is always responsive when we need emergency service, and he doesn't take us to the cleaners. I won't hesitate to call him when our home HVAC system needs work or replacement. Fair pricing, great service, an all around pleasure to do business with. read more

After 2 other HVAC professionals told us they couldn't figure out why our system malfunctioned, I was referred to Mike. He refused to give up and finally our system is back on line. Thank you thank you. read more

Mike did install our new HVAC system recently -- everything went very smoothly. From speccing to the Nest dial-in .. Quality work done fast, on-time and on-price. Everything is performing as expecting! I'll go to Mike again for sure. read more

Mike Hammer replaced our furnace and A/C-moving the AC to the side of the house. He was professional, quick, neat and very fairly priced. He set the thermostat with me so I could understand how to use it. I am VERY pleased with the job he did--and the price was significantly less than our first quote!!!! Also, the units he installed are equally high-rated with consumer reports as the brand the other guy was going to install. He was on time-came on the days he said he would-and I felt comfortable with him in the house with my husband gone. read more

Not only do we air condition the house but we air condition the garage. Our energy saving unit cost us way over what what our 12 year old unit did. The installer Mike Hammer from Martinez has walked away and will no longer service our 2 yrs old system's took his advice and and went up a size and the unit is too big for the house. Now we our stuck with $7,000.00 unit that freezes up. Trane!!!!!!! read more

If you need your heater repaired or replaced, Mike Hammer is the man to call. He has a pleasant and professional demeanor. He is reliable and honest. Very easy to work with. He repaired my heater a couple of times, and finally after about three years it had to be replaced. I gave him a budget and he searched and found one in my price range. Thanks again Mike. I highly recommend your services. read more

I waited to post until I had used both my furnace and my AC. I can say now that both work up to my high expectations! . I am from a small town and when I asked Mike if he guaranteed his work- he said "I live in Martinez" I know what that means because my Dad had a business in my home town. He had to do a great job, or else! Mike worked quickly and it took half a day for him to install both furnace and AC. He was very pleasant and easy to get along With. read more

I just had Mike replace my old (20+ years) heater and install new air conditioning for my home. He did everything in 2 days. I am very pleased with the results. Mike took the time to explain my thermostat so I am comfortable setting it and controlling the heater and air. I found Mike a few years back when my heater stopped working. He told me it should be replaced and I asked him to just "make it work". And he did! He also charged a very reasonable fee for doing so and picked up a carbon monoxide monitor for me. Given his awesome service and rates at that time, I called him when I was actually ready to replace my heater. I highly recommend him. read more

On Friday, 2/15, I woke up to a 58 degree house. I live in Martinez and found Hammer's on line with great reviews. I left him a vm message at 9, he called me back within 10 minutes and was at my house in 45 minutes. In one hour my furnace was fixed and serviced. He is excellent. I rarely make a referral but you must use him if you need heating and a/c services! Pam M, Martinez, CA. read more

Our A/C stopped working. We called Hammer's. Mike came out the same day and fixed the problem in 30 minutes. Friendly, prompt, trustworthy service. Reasonably priced, too! Can't ask for more than that! Will definitely use Hammer's Heating and Air Conditioning again! read more

We have used Mike Hammer on two separate occasions to fix our heater. He is prompt and professional and gives a fair price. I feel so lucky to have found such a reliable and trustworthy service provider. I give his business my highest recommendation. read more

Mike got our 25 year old furnace going after it failed in cold weather. He cautioned us that the old furnace might fail again. He gave us an estimate that was much lower than that from another company that gave us a hard sell. When the furnace failed again on a Monday, we asked Mike to replace it. He loaned us two portable heaters to help us get through until he could install the new furnace on Wednesday. The new furnace brings the house temperature up to the thermostat setting very quickly. Mike explained what we needed to know about using the new furnace. It is wonderful to find a businessman someone Mike who talks straight to the customer and gets the job done right. read more

Mike did an excellent job at installing it new air and heating system. Mike completed this job in one day, was timely with his estimate and was able to fit us in within a couple of days! Would recommend Mike for your air and heating system! read more

This company was referred to me by a friend's contractor. I called Mike and he made an appointment for the next day. He showed up at exactly the time we agreed upon - not a three hour window! Mike Hammer performed service on my furnace. He charged a fair price and fixed it within an hour. Another local company had looked at the furnace and quoted over $1,000 to make the same repair that Mike did for $200! It was clear, after Mike looked at the furnace, that the other company was making things up to try to overcharge an unsuspecting and desperate customer in the midst of winter. Mike is an honest professional. He didn't try to upsell. He provided good advice. I strongly recommend Hammer's Heating and Air Conditioning. read more

Mike Hammer returned our phone call within an hour or so, and was professional and courteous. He asked initial questions to pre-diagnose what might have been wrong with our A/C, and was able to schedule an appointment for us within an exceptionally reasonable amount of time. Arrived and was very knowledgeable and clear in what we needed for our residential A/C to function. Very pleased and would hire again (hopefully won't need the service though! :)) read more

AC Unit went out, Mike arrived right smack on time within 5 hours of our call. Repaired 24 yr old unit for $165 within 15 min., didn't try to sell us $8000 new one. Is SUPER friendly, calm, polite, educated (a Cal Poly San Luis Obispo grad - great school.) Checked for any issues to avoid future problems. If you're looking for old fashioned integrity, and excellent on time work at a more than fair price - call Mike. read more

We have been using Mike Hammer for the past 5 years for all of our heating and air conditioner repairs. He is always there when we call! The work he performs is excellent and fast and his pricing is always fair. We will continue using Mike Hammer and would highly recommend him! read more

We bought a new system from Mike that we are very happy with. It is much more energy efficient and powerful than our old system was. Mike created three zones for us and he has really been "Johnny on the spot" in terms of being ready to come over whenever we needed help with the new system's set up. You will not be sorry if you hire Mike Hammer. read more

Mike Hammer Just replaced my furnace in a third floor condominium rental. From start to finish he was on time, to the minute, explained what was going on and how the process would proceed. My tenant was very happy, and I can say the price was fair, and service was excellent. I will recommend highly! read more

Hammer's gets 1 star because I received very poor and unprofessional service. He scheduled my appt for a set time, 430pm. At 530pm when no one showed up/called, I called and left a message. He did not return my call until 800pm! He told me he had another job in Morgan Hill he was working on but would schedule me for next week. Next week?! Are you kidding? After i rearranged my schedule and waited nearly 4 hours for no one to show up then I have to wait until next week for a person to check out why i have no heat or a/c? Obviously my service is not valuable to this company and my problem was not a priority. To me, that's the quickest way to a lose customer and a sloppy way of running a business. If i had been notified about Hammer's needing to reschedule at a reasonable time, like prior to them not showing up, I would have understood. Since I was not, I'm taking my business elsewhere and suggest others do the same as well. read more
