They all had their strengths and all had glowing reviews. We went with Rick mainly because of his extensive experience as a contractor, but also because of the breadth of his experience. Rick was very thorough in looking in every corner and under the house, porch and in the garage. He did not cut corners. He was not afraid to get his clothes dirty. Best of all, he did his best to carefully explain things in clear and common-sensical language. Going into the inspection we had several concerns and questions that we needed answers to. In the past, we have had other inspectors who responded to our concerns with comments like, "You don't need to worry about that. That's normal." Rick did not do that. He listened to our concerns and investigated carefully. He then explained in detail why we did not need to be concerned about the issue. His answers made sense and he helped us feel good about the home. We deeply appreciated that. But real issues he addressed very directly. His comments helped us resolve some issues with the sellers that would have been very costly to fix. After the inspection, Rick encouraged us to call if we had follow-up questions. He got the written report back to us quickly. It was thorough and clear, complete with pictures. We did have a follow-up question which we sent to him and he went above and beyond to research it and make sure we had the answer. He is clearly a man of integrity, experienced, knowledgeable and with an uncommon gift of just plain "common sense." He communicates clearly and willingly. He saved us not just money, but time by helping us to understand how to take care of the house once we can call it home. I highly recommend Rick Stearns as an outstanding home inspector.

A new roof was installed on our home by Mid-Atlantic and we are very pleased with the results…read more  John, the owner, came out to do an estimate and thoroughly explained the choices of high-quality products that could be used.  He also described how the work would be done so we knew what to expect on the day of the install.  The work was promptly scheduled, and the crew arrived on time and did a professional and expert job of removing the old roof and installing the new roof. His crew cleaned the entire area around our home when they were done. The finished work looked great.  John was on site when the work began and when it was finished to follow up with us to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. It definitely was!  We enjoyed working with John and would definitely recommend Mid Atlantic as an excellent company. John even replaced a few boards in our back deck that we had requested during his initial roof inspection and estimation. We went with his company because it also did an excellent job of installing leaf free gutters several years ago. Again, we highly recommend John and his employees.

I finally came to Bobby at Ebright LLC. I was exhausted but with others stating that they were mold inspection certified. When I asked to see a copy of the certification, they became upset and said they had a degree in science, a masters in science, retired military but they couldn't produce a certification - their l pitch was more of what the others don't do, etc. but I told him I want to know if you're certified - they skirted the issue with anger until I was flustered and I said no.way. Then I contacted Ebright - Bobby provided information and not fear. He told me to not do anything until he saw and did his testing. In my mind, I had already had the walls torn down, mold remediation, and floors pulled up and wearing a mask - pure fear. Bobby came out and brought all of his sophisticated equipment - moisture measurer thermal cameras - he did a great thorough job and the report comes back the next day - others wanted to add another $100 or $75 to have the report expedited. Others had such conflict of interest, identifying mold., remediating mold, and then doing the work to repair it. All in one is such a conflict of interest. Ebright engineering is an independent certified Mold Testing company. I just bought this place in December and this is my six month living here. I surely didn't want that type of expense. Bobby took my calls when I was frantic. He called me back as expected. He was on time, he was professional and he was knowledgeable. I would recommend EBright ENGINEERING LLC. The report as promised came the next day, and the mole spores were old and not active. There had been a leak 10 years ago and the testing proved that the mold was not active. And even if it were active, I still would use E bright engineering based on his knowledge and his professionalism. The next good thing is Bobby EBright did not ask me to write a review. Many of the other people who come and perform a Service in your home before they leave, they say "write me a good review". Reviews are earned not requested. Bobby at Ebright LLC didn't . I contacted Cyclone Power Wash to get estimate for pressure washing and staining my outside deck,…read morestairs and railings on Deep Creek Lake. I then signed contract to have all wood pressure washed and one coat of stain applied to floor surfaces. After I saw the results of their pressure wash, I pointed out many areas that were unsatisfactory: railing surfaces that were ripped, circular machine lines and many areas untouched of the previous stain. The "techs" just shook their heads (although company responded that I told the guys "good job". I had hoped that staining would camouflage their poor workmanship. (We had renters coming in the next day so time was of the essence.) When I contacted the company the following morning, I was told that there was nothing they could do since I had applied the stain on the remaining parts. As I told them, final result had nothing to to do with the applied stain. It had everything to do with the results of the pressure wash. I tried to negotiate a return of part of the money paid since deck will need to be pressure washed again. I was refused. DO NOT use this company. He asked for pictures of the windows; I obliged by texting several pictures to him and confirming how many windows needed attention. He arrived late the day of my appointment and, upon seeing the windows in person, said that he did not realize that my windows were brown; the caulk that he brought was white. He said it would be best to go and get the proper color caulk and looked up hardware stores near my residence. He found that there were three within a mile of my house. He leaves to go buy the caulk, calls me 20 minutes later and says that he decided to go to Home Depot -- which is at least 6 miles and 25 minutes away. When he returns and completes the work, he charges me for the time spent going to and from Home Depot. I expressed that I should not pay for him being unprepared, but unwilling to argue with a man I had just met, I paid the invoice. I am grateful not to have done the work myself, but would not recommend working with this young man without a firm commitment about the price and his preparedness. I received offers from other vendors willing to complete the work and recommend that anyone thinking of hiring this gentleman explores their options before settling.

I'll post the text messages with him offering to come out on Saturday and then Sunday. He offered. Then he stood me up two times. He says he doesn't care about my ceiling. So, he floods the house, and doesn't care? Further, after I filed my police report today, the officer investigated his company. He has no license. His company hasn't been in good standing since last year. It has been forfeited. He is working without a license. Be completely aware of this. Oh and go to his website. He has links to his YouTube with himself in bed shirtless ranting about random things. This guy screams weirdo and unprofessional. I see why he made such an egregious claim about me. He clearly his mind is very dark. I didn't even ask for my Money back originally. I asked him to look at until he stood me up. Then I politely asked for a refund. This isn't a scam. Like at all. This guy has threatened me so much today. So much. House destroyed, had to take time out of my day to meet with the police for an hour.
