My first visit to Hammerbacher after following the bakery on social media for a year (!!) exceeded all expectations! As a Brooklyn resident who comes to the Ventnor area in summer I can say -- this place would have a line around the block (and be twice as expensive) in NYC. There's still a line but it's withstandable :) What looks like a random building down a side street in EHC houses a cozy, eclectically-decorated bakery that feels like a cool giant living room with 70s-meets-mid century decor. There's a ton of seating to enjoy the treats you buy (or to keep a patient husband comfy while you wait on line). Once it's your turn one of the employees will patiently guide you through the MANY fresh selections -- and probably convince you to buy much more than you planned on! I walked away with triple chocolate and chocolate chip cookies; a chocolate chip scone; strawberry cream "poof"; strawberry rhubarb cream tart; mini herb and cheese focaccia; and a bbq pulled pork knish (?!!). Somehow all of this was only $30. Everything is picture-perfect and beyond delectable -- but favorites were the scone and rhubarb tart. Recommend getting there close to opening to avoid a long wait and have the best selection possible. Can't wait to go back!

SHUGG- Farm to eclectic dining table via Hammerbacher's artisan culinary kitchen. What you need to know: BYOB, bring an acquiescent palate, make the effort to relax, enjoy your company and the unique experience SHUGG. SHUGG invites us to dine leisurely through 8+ 'courses' of fare served by the very hands that prepared the evenings offerings. The center of our prodigious table, set for six, held a large lazy Susan with Hammerbacher breads, locally sourced relish platters of fresh andpickled vegetables, cured meats and cheeses, herbed butters, dipping oil, a sweet tray and more! 'Courses' are served at unmeasured intervals throughout the evening. Sup, relax, chat! This particular dining style speaks to my soul!

It's a bakery that if you let it will transport you via your taste buds to carbo-heaven. Their CROPS cookies are the better version of what oatmeal raisin wishes and prays it might grow up to be. The rotation of their focaccia versions with or without some gooey cheese... the one off creations that you beg to have them re-do and put into their regular rotation like their rice pudding?!! I mean GAH! It's tooo craveable. They will do "surprise" offerings of breakfast sandwiches like in the photo attached. You need to log into their web page to get the "secret" word and without knowing what it is, just go got it! You'll never leave unsatisfied. They are up on the COVID restrictions. Ensure you wear your mask even whenever the state or county relaxes their requirements. They use Square for payment. Quick. Touch-less. Easy. Worth every penny. Treat yourself and your loved ones with this baker's creative comfort.

This is baked-goods-heaven inside a discrete location in Egg Harbor City. Apparently always has a line and been there for a very long time. Everything I had was delicious and satisfying. Special mention to the mashed and cheddar knish - it was amazing. Staff here - very pleasant, helpful and very patient with every customer's whim to add more to their tray. The set up in here allows you to browse some more while you wait in line - great for marketing even if it wasn't on purpose. Even with the limited hours of W, F, Sat, this would have been a five star review had it not been for the prices. So fair warning that it really can be a very expensive trip.

I was on my way to Atlantic City and I heard this place has good cinnamon buns. I don't know what to expect when I got there but the place was very cute, amazing design and has a variety of pastries and goodies. I came late, close to closing which I was bummed because a lot of the items were sold out for the day. I was lucky they have one cinnamon bun left so I took that as well as a brownie, cupcake, and a chocolate cake-looking bakery. Everything tasted good, not overly sweet. I wish the cinnamon bun would be fresher but I understand I got there late. I would try other items next time when I'm there.

This is the best bakery I have ever been to! I have been to plenty because I truly am a carb lover LOL but anyways, I would love to try everything here.

Amazing chocolate croissants!! We went Saturday around 11. We had to wait on line but it goes quickly. They ask everyone to wear masks because all the baked goods are out in the open. They had a great selection. Olive focaccia and chocolate croissant were my favorite. Everyone was friendly

Cute little market tucked in the almost middle of the Smithville Square shopping center. Stopped in to check it out as I've always driven past it. This time I stopped as it was around lunchtime and I was hungry. So it's a lil market that has a big display case of prepped food and a deli. The blackboard has their sandwich specials. My eyes locked onto the Reuben. You can choose from corned beef, pastrami or turkey pastrami. I went for the OG - corned beef. They liked it nicely with 6 oz of meat and topped it with the usual suspects Swiss, kraut and Russian dressing. Once it was ready it came in a cute lil brown box and boy did it feel heavy! The aroma wafting in the car made me want to open it right then and there but luckily I only had to drive less than a mile. Once I opened it there was this perfect sammie staring at me with its just right buttery golden toastiness. Dressing dripping on the sides and the pile of corned beef's As Rachel Ray would say Yum-O! I honestly ate it way too fast but I'm not even gonna lie it was worth it! So if you are like me and have driven by but never stopped in ... STOP IN! Or if you're ever in the area and need a good sammie I would recommend this place.

Holy hoarding!! If there was a "businesses" edition of Hoarders, this place could be on it!…read more With a name like "Sweet Tooth," I was expecting/hoping for some kind of bakery. I was sadly mistaken. I've passed this place literally hundreds of times, and thought I'd possibly found a new (and closer) location for some red velvet. As soon as I walked in...BAM, stuff EVERYWHERE! It literally looked like my Grandmom's attic. Pans, cookie cutters, decorations, baking supplies, in no discernible order, with no discernible flow, all over the place. I wish I had taken a picture; I thought I was being sucked into Charybdis. There were aisles, but good luck walking down them if you weigh over 100lbs. I really didn't even bother walking through that part of the store. I hate baking and I ran the risk of potentially getting lost. After making a beeline for the only actual food in the store, I took some time to survey the selections. A small case of chocolate goodies, a hodge-podge of Easter candies, and bins of what appeared to be home-made confections. I stood at the chocolate case for a while, but the woman at the checkout counter (which was diagonal from the chocolate) barely looked at me, let alone asked if I wanted something. Nothing looked that enticing anyway. There was a paltry selection of sugar free candy/chocolate. No red velvet anything, anywhere. I picked up an Asher's chocolate-coated crisped rice square. I don't even like "crisped rice," but claustrophobia makes me do weird things. I also picked up some of the home-made white chocolate covered pretzels, which were very pretty, and a pouch of chocolates clearly labeled "Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter." Can't go wrong with that, right? I thought the price was a little steep; $15 for my 3 items. I've had much better and less expensive sweets from the Sweet Shoppe at Smithville (dark chocolate covered red velvet cake pops for $1!!!!!) So I get home and decide to try the dark chocolate peanut butter cups, but when I take a bite.....marshmallow. I HATE marshmallow. The bin I took them from was clearly labeled "chocolate covered peanut butter." The chocolate was good quality but, yuck. That was a waste of $5! I don't really know how this place stays open. I've never seen any cars here, the outside of the building is very shabby (with an interior to match,) and the selection of goods to remedy your Sweet Tooth (that is their name, is it not?) is sad. I saw they offer a cake decorating class, but I'm not really sure where they'd fit the people. If I really need a fix that badly, I'll just go to Wawa.
