After looking for quite some time, I can safely say I have found my barber! Matt is passionate, authentic and his no bs approach to hair styling is second to none. I cannot say enough great things about this man and urge you to see/experience for yourself. Kudos, my guy! Until next time!

He has an incredible eye for detail and really takes the time to make sure each cut fits your style and personality. But what really sets Matt apart is the atmosphere he creates. It's not just a haircut -- it's a genuinely fun experience. He's easy to talk to, always upbeat, and somehow manages to make every appointment feel like you're just hanging out with a friend. There's a great energy in the shop that keeps you looking forward to the next visit. And just to be clear -- this review is coming from someone who has been getting their haircut by Matt for over 15 years. I'm not writing this because of politics or hearsay like some of the recent reviews. I'm writing it because I know Matt personally, I know the quality of his work, and I know the kind of environment he creates every single day in his shop.

I have had many haircuts in my life, and Shear Artistry is one of the better places I have been to…read more I was going to Great Clips and other similar places for years. I just got tired of them butchering my hair. Shear Artistry had a decent price for a haircut at $25 and the stylist working there had a lot of experience. Marcia is the one I met with and she was very good. I never left with a bad haircut or felt self conscious afterwards. I was so glad to finally have a place that cuts my hair where I don't have to wait for it to grow out to feel good about it. I had about 10 or so haircuts over the course of a year. I got to know Marcia during this time. She was very talkative and easy to shoot the breeze with. I would have said it was a pleasant atmosphere and positive experience. Now, the reason I only rate the place as 3 stars vs 5 is the way my relationship with the owner ended. I had a silly little issue with my hair and inquired if Marcia may have made a mistake on my last visit. She said she had not and explained what the issue likely was. I would have left it at that, but she just kept bringing it up and trying to convince me she had not done anything wrong. I acknowledged she was probably right, but I did say I honestly did not know how the silly hair issue had happened in the first place. I wasn't blaming her. I also was not saying I had done it. I just didn't know, but it was no big deal. On with life. Not for Marcia. To my shock and confusion, she chastised me for suggesting she had done anything wrong and essentially harassed me for the entire haircut. It was very awkward. I tried over and over to say I was sorry, but nothing I said seemed to matter. Even after all that, I would have made another appointment with Marcia. I thought she was a good stylist. But she decided to fire me as a customer. So I won't be going back. I don't need that kind of treatment as a paying customer, really. Update: I'd like to point out I commented on the good and the bad, and tried to be fair in my review. Marcia accuses me in her comment of never being wrong, but her attitude in her comments makes it clear it is in fact her that has this problem. It always amazes me just how blind arrogance can make people. I'd suggest she pull the plank out of her own eye before worrying about the splinter in mine. I guess she forgot when she behaved the way she did, that it could come back to bite her on a review site.

I thought my hair and style were just deteriorating because of age/hormones but after Marcia worked…read moreher magic I realized it just needed a really good cut! Now it's back to it's former glory. The best hair-cut in Town.

I've only given one other review in my life…read more So i have thick eyebrows but they are patchy (theyre naturally patchy but I also plucked them into oblivion) and the last time I let someone touch them, they waxed and plucked almost every hair out out made my eyebrows look drawn on. Let me just say that this was someone with a five star rating in the city who charged fifty dollars just for a wax and tint. So let's just say I've been very hesitant to let anyone touch my eyebrows since. Anyway, I found myself having my brows done at Simply Beauty (inside of Meijer) after I asked a customer service representative at Bloomingdale's where she had gotten hers done. She told me to go to the salon inside Meijer. I immediately drove over to the salon and got my eyebrows transformed for under twenty dollars... Not only do my brows look amazing (and natural!) but my eyes are framed so nicely. They don't look so close together (as a result of a good mixture of waxing/threading/plucking), they even look a bit bigger and more upturned (as a result of having them tinted and having my arch filled in). The specialists at this salon are incredibly talented, honest and friendly. I gave them a one hundred percent tip because I couldn't believe how amazing my brows looked and how little they charge. I will definitely be returning in approximately...three weeks. :)

This is one of the worse experiences I have experienced especially for a wedding trial! I came into…read morethe salon and brought photos of the hair and makeup I wanted. The hair and makeup I wanted was very simple and I will attach the photos below. I am quite upset that I spent $200 on this trial for both hair and make up. I came to the salon with moisturizer and sunscreen, and I let her know that my skin was super sensitive to products. She asked what kind of products I used at home, I told her and she said she knew what they were. Perfect! She then wiped everything off and started applying stuff on to my face. I have been to aestheticians before, and normally they always show the product that they will be applying to my face to make sure I am not allergic to that product. The products she used on my face caused me to breakout the next day, and I have had breakouts ever since. A week later and now my breakouts are slowly dying down. She moved on to my foundation. My foundation was supposed to be an airbrushed foundation. From what I have researched, foundation with an airbrush application was supposed to give me a filtered, smooth look. Instead what I got a THICK, FLAKY, and CAKEY foundation that cracked by the time I got home from the salon. When she applied the eyeshadow on my eyelids, she got it ALL over my original lash extensions. She also attached a few individual lashes to make it "even". However, the lash extensions she applied from the trial was applied very sloppily. She got glue on my left eye, and my left eyelid was stuck when she was done. On top of all that, there were remnants of glue all over my lashes. (I will show photos below). By the end of the evening, I tried to remove the eyeshadow, that she applied, with my lash shampoo. The eyeshadow did not come off and as I scrubbed my eyelids to get the shadow off, some of my lashes came off as well. Because some of the eyelash extensions were missing, my eye lids looked like a lawnmower had cut pieces of a corn field, some lashes long, some missing. I ended up having to remove my extensions because of how terrible it looked. I asked for a simple texture bun for my hair. I definitely did not get what I asked for. My bun was super thick and sloppy, and my hair didn't look anything remotely close to the pictures. It looked like I ordered off of Wish.com. I reached out to the Kristen and notified her what happened. I asked for a refund and she refused to give me my money back. I am beyond upset at this point. Kristen did offered me to come back to get it fixed. Unfortunately, I am too traumatized from the last session and can't pull myself to go back. It is unfair that I presented their AWFUL work I paid for and they're not going to refund what they've done. PLEASE BEWARE when you book with them! Worse experience ever!

My girlfriend was getting her hair done first and around 9:45am, another client arrives and says she has an appointment at 9:45am. After confirming this was true and Claudia over booked herself, Claudia asks US to leave after only 1 of us got our hair done, and come back at 11, so she can do the other girls hair who had the appointment at 9:45am? Like what? Why would we be asked to leave and come back when our appointments were scheduled first, we showed up on time, etc. Overall very bad experience, made appointments a month out, showed up on time, and then got turned away in the middle of the service. My girlfriend went to pay and Claudia said "oh did they not tell you I only take Venmo or Zelle, no cards", seems like something you would mention upon booking or mention anywhere online. I messaged the company on FB and they did refund my girlfriend, which was very nice.
