I hired Hamilton Tree Service to do some maintenance trimming in two oaks that hung over my house to meet insurance requirements. Chris came out and gave me an estimate that was very reasonable, so I gave them the job. Originally we were schedufd for Monday but they had an opening today. Chris and two helpers came out, exactly when they said they would be here, and did an outstanding job on my trees! They were hard working and their cleanup was amazing. John price quoted $4,000 to remove tree that damaged my house in hurricane Irma. After Removing a few limbs off the roof of my home he stated to me the job was completed as quoted. That's NOT TRUE the job is Tree Removal not branch removal off the roof of my home. He knew this. John and I discussed this over the phone for two days. I called him for two trees to be removed as the storm had fallen two Dry Oak Trees in my back yard. He never came to my home to see or survey the job. He quoted me $10,000 for the job over the phone and insisted it was a $10,000 job. I told him I could not pay him $10,000. The most I could pay was $4000. John called me the night before he came over asking if I had found someone. I said I had, John ask who it was and I told him who and how much. I told John they could do the tree removal Saturday AM. John said he knew the person and that he couldn't be trusted. He said the man didn't carry Workman Comp. John told me he would be at my home first thing Friday morning. When he did get here he told me he would accept the $4,000 to remove the one tree on my house and wrote out a Price Quote for $4,000 and requested $2,000 cash before he would start the job. It took time to set up. I had to sign a release form First releasing him of any damages to my property. He cut down two orange trees over 10 years old producing oranges to get access to the house. There was damage done to the yard. After three hours work on the tree John stopped work explained to me the job was completed. He had started at 0830 and he was done at 1130. He had another job he had to be at. John told me he had removed the branches on top of my home the branches that damaged the roof of the house and that's all the contract called for. He told me that the 3 Ton Dry Oak Tree supported only by a few branches of a Camphor Tree was safe living conditions for me and my family including my granddaughter. John said he felt safe standing under the Oak Tree all day. That he guaranteed there is no risk being under the tree whatsoever. The tree is hanging directly over my JEA power lines connected to the house. If the tree falls it will tear down my power lines with the box connected to the side of my house which is the bedroom. John said again, with his workers agreeing with him, that this was a $10,000 job. He wants $10,000 to finish what he started. When I started making phone calls he offered me a lesser amount. He said he would take $5,000 to finish the job. He then took my price quote receipt quoting $4,000 and said he would change it to $5,000 and told me to call him when I had the money and get JEA to "drop the line" to the house. I'm left with an unsafe place to live. There's more chance now the tree could fall because there's less supporting it. John said he's not responsible for and cleanup afterward. So far I've called the Pam Bondi The States Attorney General to see what can be done. This should never happen to anyone. read more
