In the end, Forgeways was my very close second-place choice only because their estimate was a bit higher, but their communication was top-notch and extremely professional. Forgeways' Frank arrived promptly and took many notes on my homemade gate design. After receiving his digital estimate, Frank texted photos of a similar gate currently being installed elsewhere, which demonstrated their craftsmanship and care to detail, and he included questions regarding my initial custom design to make sure he fully understood my design. We're very pleased. Patrick and Fernando did a terrific job. We had a rough idea of what we'd…read morewanted when we first met them, and the process of finalizing the finer details was really straightforward. The job was pretty swift, considering it was all custom. They measured carefully, and discussed potential issues with us and how we might like to work around them (mostly issues of our old house having walls not perfectly true, and of building codes having changed a lot since our former railing had been installed). All made sense and we came up with agreeable workarounds. They did initial fabrication on site, to make sure that everything fit perfectly, and then did the finishing work and painting off site. The final install was meticulously precise. The new railing is very sturdy. Photos show completed railing BEFORE we installed new finished flooring. It is bolted to the subfloor and to some reinforcement blocking that they installed under the subfloor for us, as well. Overall, we're quite happy with it. For something like this our goal had been to install a railing that will last for 50 years, and I think they met that goal for us.

They are beyond versatile (do all kinds of iron work), as well as being skilled artisan craftsmen. Sam and his dad (a master iron craftsman) are the loveliest of people-- communicative, honest, easy to deal with, and invested in doing the best work possible. They take great pride in their work. It took me years to find someone who could imagine the kind of railing design I needed for my 1926 uneven unique wall. No one but their company suggested this design and were able to pull it off without a hitch. The pictures speak for themselves. Look no further if you are wanting a fantastically skilled company, reasonable prices, and gems to work with. THANK YOU EXOTIC IRON WORKS!!

Sam and his dad at Exotic Iron Works transformed our front perimeter into a showpiece. From the…read morefirst on-site consultation they impressed us with thoughtful design suggestions--matching the gentle curve of the street, integrating warm hardwood caps, and spacing the balusters so the planting beds still breathe. Their craftsmanship is flawless: every weld is clean, the powder-coat is even, and the wood inlays sit perfectly flush with the metal frame. Sam's father personally checked each panel for plumb and level, and the team worked long days to finish ahead of schedule without cutting corners. They left the site spotless, even hauling away the old fencing and sweeping the driveway. Beyond the technical excellence, communication was a breeze. Sam texted progress photos, confirmed small details (hinge style, post-top finials) before committing, and honored the original quote to the penny. If you want ironwork that's equal parts art and engineering--delivered by people who treat your project like their own home--hire Exotic Iron Works. The results are stunning, and the experience is just as impressive.
