The metal fixture and the shade feel and look cheap and flimsy in person. The color of the shade is described as a deep tan but it is actually grey with green undertones. However, what annoys me the most is that they charged me $29 for shipping and now to return the light I have to purchase a return label from them. I will not be a returning customer. And, I can hit it on my way to my monthly pilgrimage to WIlliams & Sherrill. It's right on Midlothian at the front of a small shopping center and in the summer, they have a fabulous sidewalk sale. If you covet designer drapes that would normally cost $500 a panel, you can get them at this sale for 50% off or more. I bought a really cool black and white toile lampshade at the sale a couple of years for $10. The store itself is pretty small and has mostly lamps, shades and drapes, but there are a few pieces of statuary and other arty home accents. Ask for help from a salesperson for browsing the little room of drapery in the back as it's pretty crowded and stuffed with merchandise, so it's hard to find what you're looking for in the right lengths.

We found Lamp Emporium and the owner was very nice and very helpful. The shades can be pricey (and there are other lamp ensembles/chandeliers, etc. for a pretty penny), but there's a clearance section where we managed to find a lamp shade suited to our tastes and to the lamp, and within our budget. Our lamp was also missing the knob on top of the harp, and the owner was generous enough to allow us to take one from her little stash from previous customers that discarded them. Otherwise that would've been another $5 or so at a Target or Walmart. We brought the lamp in the store to try on the different shades, and the owner noticed the wiring/cable was damaged and was very knowledgeable in telling us how simple it was to repair and what supplies were needed, which Lamp Emporium also stocked for decent prices. This wasn't purely an up-sell, as the owner was genuinely concerned with properly working and good-condition lamps/wires, etc. You could tell she really cared about making sure everything was safe. We ended up buying the additional socket and wire replacement for less than $15, along with the shade. Lamp Emporium really knows their stuff when it comes to lamps, lighting, and the electrical workings behind them. I'd definitely recommend this place, but make sure you know what you're willing to spend first before coming here.
