I understand why Dr. Hamed has a score of 2.7 here. He has a lot of bad 1 star reviews, just a few less 5 star reviews and very few in the middle. People either love him or hate him. Lots of people get offended when they encounter a "straight shooter" who gives his opinion no matter how the patient "feels" about it. Dr. Hamed is a striaght shooter. I had an appointment with him two weeks ago and he advised me on my lymphedema. He gave it to me straight, I really only have two options. One option was to lose a lot of weight through the bariatric surgery. He also pointed out some things I could have done, which I did do in part, but I didn't make the ultimate effort. But he was fair and told me what he thought of me personally and although he didn't actually say "get off your ass and do it and you need to do it NOW", I feel that's what he meant. Since that visit, I've been on protein shakes, and I don't even have one until 3:00pm (8:00am-2:59pm on water). It's been hard, and its going to be about a two year journey, but so far Dr. Hamed has kick started me into action! If you're looking to be coddled, Dr. Hamed probably isn't for you. But I'm a difficult person to offend, I appreciated the honesty. As far as the way the ofice runs, I've seen worse. I had a 9:40 appointment. I arrived at 9:30 and saw 6 people ahead of me in line. Normally that means I won't be seen until noon. But I was the third person called into the back. When I was called, one person complained that he had been there an hour before they opened, and at first I felt for the guy. But after I thought about it, he didn't say he had a 9:40 appointment. So, it really doesn't matter how early you arrived, it matters what time you appointment is. And since the office opened at 9:40, his only legitimate complaint would have been that he had an appointment at the same time as me. read more

Rosie the receptionist is the most rude individual I know. She was rude to me, the residents family and my employees. She should not be in charge of a position that requires CUSTOMER SERVICE. She wanted us to follow a verbal Dr order from her, a mere receptionist. Absolutely not, not how the medical field works. She is not a doctor, she cannot give orders. Dr. Taheri recently performed a cholecystectomy for me (removed my gall bladder). It was the first time I had a real surgery so I was a little nervous, but Dr. Taheri not only did an amazing job on the surgery itself (which I had a very easy recovery from) but also made me feel much more comfortable going into it due to his professionalism, clarity and willingness to explain everything to me. At subsequent follow ups, he was thorough and made sure everything was going smoothly. He also made sure that I was doing what I need to on my end to make sure aftercare went smooth, correcting some misinformation I received elsewhere about my diet and nutritional needs. I highly recommend Dr. Taheri to anyone and I am very grateful that he was the doctor that performed my surgery! read more

They charged a patient because they didn't know to "bill their insurance" and then when were expecting a refund and finally got a check 10 months later they canceled the check. When we called to find out what happen then office manager said "ya we canceled because was write wrong but you will get one shorty" mind you the amount was write in numbers was correct when asked why couldn't we get notified before "well it was just a small amount check and you will get a new one soon so " with a attitude ABSOLUTELY WORST!!! Time for a new referral arrived 15min early as a new patient for them to stroll in late. Also there is no seating to wait for employees to show up. Then was charged 2 bucks for a mask that the emergency room does not even require but they do. It's 2024 & only excepts debt cards. What Dr office does not accept credit cards ???? Honestly would rather chain smoke cigarettes than deal with the stress this place caused me this morning. Also if your a first time patient know your GPS will bring you to the emergency room lot. Please do not waste your time with this office. Request your PCP to send you somewhere else. The staff is unhelpful and rude. They would not except a digit version of my insurance card so they canceled my appointment even though they had my authorization and I had my insurance information. I want to Thank Dr. Hamed Taheri for saving my life. I had to get emergency surgery due to complications with a previous surgery done by a different surgent that wasn't done correctly. I was in so much pain for the last month. I really didn't know what else to do because the surgent was not able to see into the next month. The day I went for my appointment he told me how bad it was and send me to the emergency room. He follow up with me at the emergency room and did my surgery with 2 days after being admitted. He also check up on me after the surgery to see how I was recovering. Gave me a follow up appointment at his office. He help me so much I'm forever grateful. I feel so much better and don't have no words to thank him for taking care of me. I wasn't a medical insurance only but actually help me out as a patient that was very indeed needed! read more

I did not think I would take my time to write a review but this office deserves one. I can only advice anyone to look for a second opinion. This guy, can not call him an MD because he does not fit that criteria, would not chat with the patient post-op. Basically, he leaves you in the recovery without discussion of what happened during the procedure. Pain management was ridiculous! Normally, just a call back to the MD to discuss alternative is the normal procedure, however, the guy would not take any calls because he's "busy" attending other patients. The office staff is a joke! The manager, called herself Rosy, underqualified, suggested that a visit to the ER or have a discussion with the pharmacy for alternative medication are the best solution, rather than having the busy doctor review the charts. She even said, "can you speak English," where clearly she had the thick Iranian accent and had trouble comprehending. Buyer beware. It's an elective surgery, there's others around who's better. He only has privileges with the small hospitals, clinics. This should give you enough warning. Did not listen to my best judgement because the procedure was necessary. In hindsight, would never go to this place again. While I was in the waiting room, I witness someone so upset that had to be escorted away. Another, walk out and looked for another place to go. He's great, but can this office get it together when it comes to scheduling! They have a sign that says that they will not see you if you show up late to your appointment but yet you are lucky if they see you within an hour of your scheduled appointment! This is ridiculous! Schedule accordingly, there is no way why anyone should be waiting an hour or more to be seen my the Dr. If they have an appointment, it's very unprofessional and hypocritical if you ask me. Dr taheri is an angel and I couldn't ask for a better surgeon. This man saved my life from a womb that could have killed me if I wouldn't got to him fast enough. Unlike all the other doctors that I thought was helping me, he really took my situation personal and he really cared enough to take action immediately and If I had millions of tongues to thank him, it still wouldn't be enough and I will NEVER forget him... Dr Taheri will always hold a special place in my heart as long as I live because I would be DEAD if I wouldn't have never walked into his office... his wife holds a place in my heart because she's right by his side and she so loving and caring... He accused me to let my cardiologist do his job just because my cardiologist prescribed a xeralto before him. I just followed the doctor order and he freaked out because of it! This review is strictly for the staff at the office esp the front desk people that greet you. People in the front representing your office SAYS ALOT ABOUT THE OFFICE. My appt was scheduled for 930, 30 min later still wasn't seen. I came in as a new patient for a follow up on a cyst. Something small, easy going. As soon as I walked in I had questions on the NP paperwork as it said I might have to pay a copay. So went up to the front desk woman and asked her and she tried to shut me up immediately and said " it's okay we don't follow guidelines just sign just sign" I looked around surprised as I didn't even see the manager look up or flinch at a comment like that. The worst experience at a doctors office hence I'm also in the medical field. There needs to be more nurturing and caring people in this field. read more

Dr. Taheri came to my rescue when I had a mysterious, painful golf ball-sized growth attached to my salivary gland. He put me in St Mary's for pain management, then had it drained. It was an abscess...ew. After the infection was gone, he removed the thing, leaving me with a scar I have to crane my neck to show my parents because he's hidden it so well. I do have some temporary nerve damage from when he had to peel the nerve off of the growth to remove it, but it should be back to normal in a few months and I'm already seeing some improvement. read more

Unfortunately, my grandmother was not able to get the care she needed from Hamed Taheri while at Saint Mary's Medical Center in Long Beach due to the fact that the doctor threatened both her and her relatives to cancel the surgery. This threat came after myself and other family members requested basic information from him on the procedure after receiving absolutely no information or call backs for over 24 hours: 1) WHAT is the procedure being performed? 2) IS she in stable condition to have this procedure?, 3) WHAT is the recovery time associated with the procedure?, 4) HOW will family be notified of the outcome?. Hamed Taheri refused to answer any of these questions, became terse and agitated, said that unless our relative wanted him to speak to us, he wouldn't, indicated he wasn't aware that she had a power of attorney on file, and ultimately threatened to cancel the surgery. He then approached my grandmother and had an undisclosed conversation, and within 10 min I received a call form the OR manager stating the procedure was cancelled. My grandmother has since confirmed to both her nurses and case worker at the hospital, as well as myself and our other relatives that she did not feel "comfortable" with "that man" and wouldn't "trust him" to perform any procedure on her. His bed-side manor is extremely poor, his communication is abrasive and combative, and his overall care of patients is lacking to the point where it's clear he either 1) doesn't like what he does or 2) doesn't care about the people he's taken an oath to treat. I'm pleased that we were able to get another consult and will be moving forward with this much needed vascular procedure through another surgeon who has shown more care and compassion. read more

This rating is based on the staff! My mom was referred to this doctor and scheduling an appointment for her was like pulling teeth!! I work for a medical insurance company, I've worked for doctors offices and i understand that every office has their own policy as to scheduling new patients but this is beyond ridiculous. Fast forward my mom is finally seen, i accompany her to her follow up appointment and am beyond shocked at the way they handle patient care. This practice clearly does NOT follow HIPAA guidelines. Medical assistant comes out to the waiting room to take her vitals in the waiting room!! Unheard of! While there are other patients waiting, ask her weight, height etc, take her blood pressure and all while repeating her results out loud. I can't express how shocked I was to see this happening. I didn't mention anything simply because my mom was a nervous wreck as it is and I didn't want to make her even more uncomfortable than she already was. Who's the office manager and why is the staff trained this way!? Wait time is ridiculous! Schedule patients accordingly!!! Nobody should have to wait an hour to be called back to an exam room. One patient had to leave because he waiting so long to be seen, got up and canceled his appointment. I understand some patients need more time In the exam room than others, so schedule them accordingly! read more

It's interesting that people are noting their experience as professional because mine was anything but. First off I came to this doctor on a referral from my primary care physician to get a second opinion about getting a procedure done for my varicose veins. When I called to make my appointment I got a very disorganized vibe, in that I pretty much had to guide the receptionist as to what information she needed from me. I gave her my insurance info and she assured me I was "in-network" apparently there are loop holes to this. I went ahead and had my prior medical records faxed here before my visit. So I arrive 10 minutes early to my appointment and the woman at the front doesn't know what is going on whatsoever and she doesn't have my paperwork. So I had to call my other doctors office and have them fax it over AGAIN. I wait in an empty waiting room for about 40 minutes when I finally hear a door open in the back and whispering. Did the doctor just get here a half hour after my appointment time? So then I have my consult and he just looks at me and is like yea, we can do this, insurance will cover it and no you won't have to wear compression stockings. Not only did it feel rushed, the woman at the front desk was in my consultation the entire time. She wasn't wearing scrubs so I'm assuming it wasn't a nurse? Was it his wife? What is even going on? Weren't there other patients she might need to check in? I felt extremely uncomfortable for our 15 minute consultation and obviously didn't use him for my procedure. I was surprised when they didn't just charge me for my specialist co-pay when I was leaving but figured they would maybe send a bill for that? The whole thing was so confusing and a waste of time. 9 months later I receive a bill for hundreds of dollars. They charged my insurance for the maximum out of network deductible. I call and ask what's going on and they give me a number for someone named Mike who takes care of their billing. So I called, this man answers the phone mumbling, and I'm like did I randomly call someone's cell? He said he didn't have any answers for me because he was having computer issues.
