From other reviews I have read, Dr. Hook seems to be very surgery happy because that must be the bigger money maker. I have had nothing but complications post op. I also fell in the Advocate Condell Surgery Center after the surgery. I had just woken up and needed to use the restroom. His staff put me on crutches to walk alone and I had a nerve block in my foot and leg and a cast. I fell in the bathroom and smashed my foot on the floor. Dr. Hook is aware of this and the results of the injuries to my foot and has done nothing to help me. Because I was in excruciating pain for months, I sought a second opinion from a doctor at Illinois Bone and Joint. He ordered an EMG and MRI. EMG showed extensive nerve damage in my foot and leg. The MRI shows the ligaments that Dr. Hook supposedly repaired is still torn. Also, I found out post surgery that Dr. Hooks fellow, Edgar Sy, did a large portion of my surgery without my knowledge or consent. During my last visit with Dr. Hook, he reviewed the EMG and MRI and denied the ligament is still torn. I was in tears asking him what I'm supposed to do with a messed up foot and can't walk properly and his comment was that he can't remember my surgery because he does so many and mine was a few months prior. I'm going to be reporting this to the Illinois Department of Health. Its really sad when you trust a doctor and his staff to care for you with such total disregard

Dr Laur had previously provided orthotic care for my mother for a different condition, so when the appropriate brace for my mom's arm fracture could not be obtained by the hospital, I called Dr Dagny Laur at American Limb and Orthopedic Company in Valparaiso. Although the hospital where my mother was a patient is located quite some distance away and was not normally where Dr Leur provides her orthotic and prosthetic skills, Dr Laur traveled to that hospital and expertly applied the appropriate brace to stabilize and protect the fracture. I will be forever grateful for the compassionate care and comfort provided for my mother by Dr. Dagny Laur and American Limb and Orthopedic Company of Valparaiso, Indiana.

After years of pain and stiffness, he was the one to find my daughter's juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, through bloodwork. We have gone to 2 other orthopedic doctors prior to Brown and they all did xrays and threw her in physical therapy, never finding true reason to why she had the pain. He went above and beyond with her getting dx and we are forever grateful. Front desk ladies are wonderful. Mary was amazing with patient education and follow ups. After seeing how many xrays doc ordered, X-ray tech muttered "Jesus Christ" under her breath and seemed annoyed to do her job. I'm not looking for "good feels", I'm there for excellent care on my family's health.

His guidance and advisement so I could make a decision on future knee surgery ( which was inevitable) was on point. Meanwhile, being fitted for a brace and receiving shots to ease the pain and make me comfortable to carry on everyday tasks worked. Then the decision was mine to tell Dr.Nickless that I was ready for surgery. He suggested Dr. Nam (great choice) and I followed my pre and post surgery and physical therapy instructions to the letter and the outcome was successful. I am able to carry on like I never had surgery. Dr. Nickless and Dr. Nam are remarkable doctors. And I thank them both for my recovery!

The glass doors at the reception desk were locked and several staff were conversing among themselves. All but one staff member walked away. The remaining staff member asked if she could help me. I stated I'd like to see a doctor. She replied that there were no doctors. I replied your hours show you are open until 2000hrs. She said, no, we're only open until 1900 hrs. I replied "It's 1800hrs, now." She stated that they only take appointments after a certain time. She asked if I'd like to make an appointment. Frustrated, I said no and left. As a retired firefighter and EMT, married to a nurse, we will be sure to tell the first responder community of my experience.

I called earlier to make sure I didn't need a driver and was told that I didn't need one. About 5 minutes before getting to the office I noticed that I missed 2 calls less then an hour before my appointment. I DO need a driver! Not cool! So I had to formulate a last minute ride to come and pick me and my car up. I ended up having to wait an hour for my husband to come. The staff apologized so much. I'm not going to dock them a star or anything. Mistakes happen and you could tell that the person that called me felt so bad. I was very concerned and nervous about getting the shots but the Doctor and the Nurse were very comforting. I barely felt a pinch. There was a little discomfort but now many hours later I feel a lot better. Dr. King answered my questions, he was knowledgeable and very personable and I was very glad he was so friendly because I hurt and the last thing you need when you are hurting is a doctor that sees dollar signs and not a hurting person. I'm scheduled for a follow up surgery to repair what should have been done initially. I was consistently made to feel that my pain was manufactured by the PA Alyssa (who needs to practice a little empathy) and Staff and come to find out there is a confirmed issue that needs surgery. This has been a master class in how to not treat a patient. If you want to communicate with your doctor's office, this is not a good choice.
