    Bacon burger with Gouda cheese

We were looking for a good burger and fries. Bars usually are a good bet. This place is in an old city building. They also have a nice outdoor area. They have a good selection of craft beers. We split the burger with Gouda cheese. Good burger flavor and nice bun. They even split it for us. Fries were crispy and delicious. Service was very friendly and helpful.

Not bad but sadly they updated their menu so no more KBBQ burger. Their food is and tastes like bar food. Some bars have good food, this one is definitely just a bar with food. It's chill, not bad and cool lake location. The kids chicken bites were small and alright. I could probably ID the exact frozen French fries at Publix that they buy though.

Today was a day of driving and visiting rest areas, or at least it seems that way. It's time for an evening of people watching, review writing and beer drinking. I found Halpatter in downtown Lake City after nailing a parallel parking spot with people watching. Hooray for my rearview camera! Inside, lots of stools and tables, I managed to secure a spot that was not only against the wall, which meant I had something to lean against, but there was also a power outlet so I could Yelp for a while. A friendly sort of watering hole, the folks drinking beers and having a good time were grownups. No kids running about, it was a social place and it was nice to chat with a local about what's going on in Lake City, i.e., not much. I stayed for three delicious beers (my limit) over more than two hours before heading back to the RV and on to wherever I would be spending the night. Great beers and atmosphere at Halpatter Brewing. I came with my dad, brother and nieces for some beer and ping pong. I decided to have the beer sampler which came with 4 samples size glasses. I tried the brown ale, strawberry flavor, ipa, and the blonde ale and all were tasty and delish. My nieces had root beer of course lol. We also tried the smores cheesecake for dessert. The guys had fun playing in the ping pong room while my nieces and I played board games in the room next door. This place is family friendly and great vibes.

My date and I stepped into Halpatter Brewing, after walking around the Main Street area. It was a cool and refreshing pitstop with both cider and Ale. The inside rooms were large and comfortable, with high ceilings. We enjoyed our drinks and chatted with a few other fooks before leaving. When im next in town, i will certainly stop back in to enjoy crisp, refreshing libations.

At first glance, it doesn't look like a bar at all. The brewery is in an old government building and they did an amazing job adapting it. When we entered it, there was a short line to get our drinks. I chose the "Halpatter - Cross Creek Wheat", which was delicious at $6.50. My husband chose the "Monshine Apple flavor", which he thought was really good at $8.50. We explored the space and found a room with a ping pong table, a space with couches and a party room, and downstairs there was another bar and a huge open space with a stage. The atmosphere downstairs was really cool and it's super family and animal friendly too. Our second drink choice was the "Halpatter - Seymour Finnegan," which I didn't like very much but was good, and my husband chose the "Monshine Blueberry flavor", which he liked better than the other. They have a selection of burgers and chicken wings, which we didn't eat, but all the dishes I saw looked delicious. It really seemed like a very popular place for locals and I'll definitely go back if I'm there.

We visited Halpatter on a Friday around 6pm for beer and a light meal. The staff were friendly and helpful. My husband enjoyed two flights of beers (4-3 oz pours per flight) stating the Brown Ale and the Cream Ale were particularly good. We each had the Al Pastor bowl and shared an order of fries. The fries were fresh and hot and the bowls were tasty filled with pulled pork, black beans, rice and salsa/sauce. The tap rooms are in a former Florida Department of Transportation Building which is actually pretty cool.

A cool brewery located in Lake City. This brewery is pretty big with multiple floors. I love how many spaces they have to enjoy with family or friends inside and out. They even have a outside area with a fire pit. Located in the heart of Lake City it really is the cool spot. They have a lot of fun events and live music. The best part is the variety of different beers and small eats. We ordered a cider, beer and a graze board. We weren't blown away by our drinks but we would love to come back and try different beers. I will say the graze board was so delicious we loved the chicken salad the most. The only negative thing I will mention is there was no handicap access to the second floor. It was a bit challanging with a stroller. However we look super forward to coming back and doing brunch one day.

Another little gem I located in Lake City while on a work contract. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the bartender who was super nice. I wish I could remember his name but he made sure I sampled a couple of their drafts. I'd like to say that I am not a beer drinker however they had a few that my pallet enjoyed all recommended by my wonderful bartender that night. They also serve a couple of wines and ciders. Some of the drinks are seasonal so you'll want to pay attention to that. They do have food and on certain nights out of the week they have different activities such as trivia and Taco Tuesdays. I tried the burger and fries which I didn't get a picture of but the fries were definitely the highlight. I dipped them in their white sauce that comes on the Mexican burger and goodness was it delicious.

Smash burger, fries, and a flight of beer! DELICIOUS fries!

It's fresh, inviting, and just what we need in this little city! The inside is absolutely a vibe. It's cute, it's feminine, it to me - says yummy cupcakes! The display case is nice and large with an assortment that changes daily. To find out the daily cupcake offerings check out their Facebook page! I'm someone who normally goes crazy in a cupcake shop but space is limited in the fridge so I restrained myself to getting only three cupcakes, one for each person in my house. We did two salted caramel cupcakes and a maple praline. My mom and I shared ours and yum! The frosting is SWEET! If you have a sweet tooth this frosting is for you! The maple praline frosting is delicious and packs the most flavor. The cupcake itself is lightly flavored and not overwhelming. The salted caramel, I felt wasn't noticeably salty but that could be my taste buds. The cupcake itself held more flavor than the maple praline did but it wasn't bad or too much. Sometimes cupcake shops will offer but so many get one free but this shop doesn't do that. Instead they do have a reward point service. For every dollar you spend you get a point. Once you get to 100 points it's redeemable for a cupcake or another item up to $5. The cashier was super friendly and patient with me while I decided. Overall I love the shop, and I can't wait to go back for my next cupcake already! The only pain point I would say is the hours aren't not the best with them being open 11-6 or sold out. Maybe it's the big city girl in me but later hours until 7 or 8 would be great for those of us who work during the day and want to go on a week day instead of the weekends. I do understand offering an availability that suits the business and I have seen them open earlier on festival days which is nice! Also parking is street parking only unless I missed a parking lot sign. Don't park in the parking lot across from the shop since it's city hall parking and says they will tow.

I was not impressed with the temperature of the bars. While items I buy at some bakeries are cool, they're not cold to the point where the crust of the item is mushy. Additionally, I felt the lemon curd bar had extremely too much lemon flavoring, and I bake and purchase lemon bars regularly! The Oreo mud pie was decent. update: So, I tried their cupcakes, which are MUCH better than the bars. In fact, they are delicious! This may be because I didn't immediately eat them after purchasing them. They were room temperature, and delightful. The icing was delicious, and the cake was moist and yummy. Because I'm transparent in my reviews, I have to comment on the atmosphere of this place. Though the folks in the store gave a nice greeting and seemed friendly, I felt I was encroaching on family time, with various members of the family running around doing things. This is probably normal for the Lake City area, but it's definitely not something I'm used to in a professional bakery.

First time I came it was like the line was molasses and moved so slowly, and to top it off the employees were rude. Second time I came, same thing but this time with the rudeness came lack of communication when their ice cream machine went down for over 15 minutes after giving me half my order. Needless to say the half I received was melted by the time I left. Then instead of saying something they just ignored me in the drive thru until I said something to get more attitude, an eye roll, and the employee completely walking away. I understand fast food is no one's desired job but it doesn't mean you should be rude. I gave it one more try tonight and it'll definitely be the last. The employee at the window was brusque and didn't smile once, greet me, or anything. Instead barked the total at me and took my payment. I ordered two blizzards and they were already half melted when they were given to me. When a large blizzard costs almost $7 the ice cream shouldn't be melted. They couldn't even flip the cups cause the ice cream was so runny. I had to place it in the freezer when I got home (over an hour ago) and it's still not completely back to even being almost frozen. I feel like I wasted $14 for melted ice cream. I wish I had said something at the time, but I always try to be polite but honestly this is just frustratingly disappointing. Overall this has to be the WORST Dairy Queen I've ever been to across the country. Rude unprofessional employees and lack luster half melted ice cream is a reason for me to avoid this place. And the quality of ice cream is consistently always a problem so if you're thinking of ice cream you're better off finding a local spot or going to another fast food establishment for their ice cream. Sonic in town does pretty good even though they have a limited selection to choose from.

I loved Bob Evans' meals from when I was a kid, and I had a hankering for breakfast food while making a pit stop. We initially were greeted by Jay at the front, seated and the team helped with drink orders since we were hectic and couldn't decide on anything before everyone got a chance to "freshen up". Mary Jo was our server, patient and friendly, took her time with us since she could tell we were not locals. My parents are usually predictable but this place was kind of new to them. I ordered a breakfast omelette with loaded hash browns and pancakes. My elderly parents (both over 80) used the specials menu, it was like going 40 years back in time, when meals were $9.99! mother got the hamburger steak, my father the fish and chips. Both were very happy with the amount of food, along with the sides. Mary Jo brought out biscuits which are my absolute favorite but I specifically didn't get sausage gravy because we still had a long way to drive and I needed to be alert. Man, just perfect execution on it all. The cooks nailed our humble order, everything coming out piping hot, all timed together, everyone dug in and we almost finished it all. Took a couple biscuits with butter that Mary Jo gave us, and I packed my pancakes without syrup since I'm a Type 2 diabetic. Didn't matter bc the pancakes were so light and fluffy. As I paid the bill up front, you still are there back in time, seeing candy for sale that hasn't been prominently around for years, NECCO wafers, Giant Tootsie Rolls, Chunky candy bars. Brought back a flood of childhood memories when things were simpler. Bob Evans is like a beacon, giving you good food when you need it, great service all the way, and Jay who rang me up at the end was very kind- listening to my ramblings about how NECCO used to be in Boston but was bought by Spangler in Ohio. Mary Jo provided my father and I our drinks to go, his an unsweetened tea and me a Coke Zero. Really nice touch since I needed that boost to finish the 500 mile drive. A blast from the past but exactly what we needed at the moment. The memories I had while there eating were real, and I'm happy we chose to stop here. On the way back you can bet I'm gonna try to stop again! Thanks to the team for keeping us fed, awake, and caffeinated for our drive.
