They seem to have a maze of an entrance for the exit of the store almost like a spin door but it's a door with a one way in and one way out kinda maze . The staff is super helpful, and of course the fabric is beyond affordable -- usually $4 a yard or less. Last week I saw 54" wide rolls of block-printed African prints that would have cost oodles in a higher-end store. For $5 a yard. This is the place to go if you are willing to hunt, and if you don't confuse bare-bones displays for a lack of quality. There is always something different, as well, but make sure that you get enough of what you need, because most of the rolls are discontinued / remnants, and you likely won't find that roll again. Fabric World used to have more apparel fabrics, jumbled onto huge tables. During the first year of the pandemic I picked up serious quality cotton - -Robert Kaufmann -- for $3/yard. They aren't carrying the quilting cotton remnants any longer, unfortunately, and the cotton on bolts doesn't feel nearly as high quality. It's also oriented more towards kids' prints. If you are making clothes for rapidly growing kids, though, it's exactly what you'd need! There are a few tables of apparel fabrics left. I've gotten quality linen there, though the bulk is rayon / polyester / viscose / stretch fabrics. If you love fabrics and want to hunt ... this is your place! (Not to mention easy-peasy parking.)

Joann's used to be a bigger store but it downsized in the past 7 years to half its size. I am not sure why it did to be honest, but I've now always wondered what was behind that wall of yarn and excess items near the restroom. Crafts: It's got pretty much every craft that you need. You name it and it's got it. Fabrics; This Joann's is more subjective to fabrics and needlework- heck I would argue HALF this store is fabrics and the rest of everything else is squished to the other half. And that's a lot of stuff in the other half. Seasonal decor: Always love to see what artisan and crafts that joann's markets for every season and its over priced things. I understand they are artistic and but 56$ for like a little birdhouse that was probably mass made vs something at a festival where someone made in their actual backyard for 45$ seems to be kinda of a ripoff to me at times. Variety of goods: Honestly for an artist, Joann's kinda sucks for trying paint varieties. I recommend hitting a Michael's or if you have some more time, go to Blick on Peachtree Street for REAL artist supplies for DIRT CHEAP prices. I think Joann's shafts the local artists here by jacking up paints and offering a paltry selection for those who are in AP art or who are artits. Drove 20+ miles for a machine the app and web said were in…read morestock (multiple). Got there, was routed around the store, and finally learned the machines listed as in stock the past few days were not on the floor. It's not quite as packed as the original location on Cheshire Bridge Road. Some will find that to be a positive, some a negative, and some like me just won't care because there's so much beautiful fabric there you'll be in Nirvana either way. I will say that I think the second location is a little more spacious so it may be a little easier to find what you're looking for. On the other hand it feels to me like the one on Cheshire Bridge original store has a bit more fabric. Either way, if you can't find the cloth of your dreams here, it can't be found anywhere short of the New York City garment district. This is in a totally different league than Joanns or other chains. The only downside to both Gail K stores is that they're not open very late for my taste. the Norcross location is open until 5 pm while the other location is open only until 4 p.m. (!) except for Thursday when they're open till 7. Why can't they both be open till 10 at night 7 days a week? But they aren't and I suppose they can't be. So just get yourself going before the traffic gets bad and find those textile treasures. If you love fashion and fabulous fabric at fair prices, you'll find it well worth your time to patronize Gail K.
