I have previously used Hallmark Chimney Sweep numerous times and never had a problem with their service. This year I was very disappointed as they only spent 15 minutes and only serviced the chimney from in the house. They pushed the soot and material into the chimney cap and left it full. This left my house smelling horrible. I feel the service was very careless, unprofessional and created an extreme fire hazard. To make it worse I asked them to check the sparks screen. He brushed the screen a bit and could have clearly seen all the soot they pushed up into the chimney cap, but just left it there. I left numerous messages and never received a reply. The charge was $225 for a small, one story house with a flat roof. Needless to say I will not hire this company again, and will advise my neighbors to avoid this company as well. read more

I cannot recoment these lovely, courteous, competent men with enough stars. They replaced the chimney cap when Santa Ana winds blew mine away, and then they came with super duper tools and cleaned my fireplace and chimney top to bottom of years of use and heavy ash buildup. And they did it quick and easily. Pros to the Max!!! And, such delightful people, like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins....delightful. A great company!!! read more

Outstanding. Dale and his brother came out to fix things and did an excellent job. Their fees were very reasonable, and follow-through was excellent! read more

You guys have serviced our pellet couple of months ago but it's not turning on I have called 4 times so far and left voicemails but no one bothering to return my calls , this is very disappointing We are trying to support small businesses but it seems like some businesses are careless read more

I had this company come out to my place in Lake Arrowhead when I purchased It 2 years ago. Contacting them is annoying as it's very old school with a home phone where half the time they don't answer or their voicemail is full. But, that didn't matter to me because it seemed they did a good job and were friendly once I got ahold of them. Fast forward to this year.....I spoke to a gentlemen (I believe the owner), he set me up for an appointment about 6 weeks later on 11/18. Well, 11/18 came and went and he never showed up. I have called and called and left 2 voicemails asking what happened. I have gotten no return phone calls or anything. Very frustrating.... read more

Amazing brothers. Have used them up the hill a few times. They also do chimney repairs!

Excellent Service! After my first call to make an appointment, they confirmed the week of and the day before. We purchased a new home in Yucaipa and had no idea what the condition of the chimney would be. When they came to do the cleaning, they were professional and quick. They helped us to better understand how to use our chimney as well as how to care for it. Both gentlemen made great conversation and were pleasant to interact with. We look forward to their continued maintenance of our chimney. read more

I absolutely love Hallmark. I use them regularly on homes that I have in escrow in the Lake Arrowhead area. They are prompt, pay attention to detail and are very pleasant to do business with. I highly recommend Hallmark. read more

I highly recommend this company. Arrived on time, clean and neat. Swept chimney, opened roof of insert and vacuumed out soot, replaced some aging firebrick, which I had extra, all included. Reasonable price compared to who I used up here on the mountain previously. read more

We have only used Hallmark for the past 10 years and they literally can not be beat. I read a previous review complaining about them being unprofessional but I disagree. I did have to call twice, but its a small family run business and I am happy to have done it as other quotes I had been give were $200 (minimum they said, if it was "bad") and $300 (because we live in the mountains). It was only $139 and that was less than they quoted so that was even better - we were a year overdue so I was afraid it was going to be "bad" and they knew how long it had been and could have told me it was and I would have believed him. I do have to say something about the description of Dale as being high-functioning autistic in that other review. Who cares #1 and #2 again, who cares?! He's chatty but sweet. He did a great job and I don't ever worry he is going to overcharge me but I know I will always learn something as he does know a lot of about everything. He also jokes and I am sure there was a lack of a sense of humor involved vs. Dale espousing Hitler. I mean, really. smh Highly recommend! read more

Hallmark Chimney Sweeps is one of the most unprofessional companies I've ever encountered. They can't keep track of their appointments or jobs performed, they deposited a $50 check as $500, performed shoddy repair work that didn't hold up as promised, and their chimney sweep was too busy espousing Hitler instead of actually doing work. All these memories from last summer flood back as I currently tend to a leaking chimney thimble that was supposedly repaired back in August by this company. Last summer, my husband and I were in escrow for a home, and the home inspector recommended Hallmark. Considering this company came recommended and was family-owned, we made an appointment. When I called the company, I explained to Betty that since we did not own the home, we would only order an inspection. If we ended up purchasing the house, I would set up an appointment for necessary repairs and a sweep. Betty assured me she understood. My husband and I were unable to attend the inspection, so our buyer's agent handled the appointment. Apparently, it went smoothly, and afterwards, I received Hallmark's report from Betty. The inspection was $50, and two repairs would be needed: patch some rust in the fire box, and repair gaps in the thimble to prevent leaks. It estimated this would cost $180 plus $139 for cleaning. However, Betty called me several times after I paid for the inspection, telling me I still owed her an additional $319. She claimed that Dale, her son, had "performed the repairs and cleaning." I explained that a.) I had only requested and booked an inspection, and b.) since I did not own the home, I wouldn't have ordered repairs or cleaning until after escrow. Eventually, Betty admitted she was confused and I didn't owe anything more. At this point, I had some trepidation, but figured one mistake does not a bad company make. After escrow closed, I called Hallmark back and spoke with Betty again, booking an appointment for Dale to return to repair and sweep. She confirmed and set the date, and even chuckled that Dale would tell me everything I wanted to know about chimneys. Three weeks later, my husband and I drove two hours to our house for the appointment, as we had not yet moved. Dale arrived late, but instead of doing work, chatted away incessantly. We surmised that he most likely had high-function autism, as he talked endlessly about random facts and did little in terms of actual work. For nearly 45 minutes he blathered on about "the Russians," "the Chinese," and the ancient Romans. I was finally able to ask when he would get started, to which he replied, "Oh! I don't have any of the necessary equipment to do this today!" He then continued blithely discussing anything that wasn't chimney-related. I immediately called Betty and explained that Dale did not bring any of the items needed for the appointment and could not perform the work he was scheduled to do. She acted nonchalant and suggested we could re-schedule the next day. I was unhappy, but needed the work done and agreed. After, I escorted Dale to his truck, when he stated, "Hitler had some amazing ideas, and really would have been just fine implementing them, except that the state had rejected his Final Solution!" I was floored. I did not want to do business with Hallmark anymore -- Dale's advocation for the Nazi of all Nazis was reason enough not to use Hallmark's services. I called several companies and tried to find anyone who would match Hallmark's rates or schedule, but none came close. My husband and I begrudgingly decided to keep our appointment with Dale and then never use this company again. The next day I made myself absent in the basement, while my husband was present for Dale's work. Dale filled the bottom of the fire box with cement to "patch" the rust -- which, I'm no expert, but that seems really odd for a fix -- and then repaired the thimble. He cleaned as well, but the whole time discussed anything but chimneys or repair work, often tangentializing and stopping his work entirely. Mind you, he does not converse with you, but merely talks at you. And if you're not present, he talks to himself. I watched him when he was alone, and he just talked by himself. (And we never learned a thing about chimneys or clean burning. Bummer.) Afterwards, my husband and I thought all was well until Betty cashed my check at her ATM -- she added an extra zero to the end of the total amount, thus depleting my checking account for a full eight days until I could get our banks to issue a refund. It was part of a disappointing but unsurprising end to this business transaction. Since Dale's cleaning, our fire box spews smoke into the house on occasion, smells badly when we light a fire, and now I sit here while a storm rages outside, supervising Dale's thimble repairs -- which were meant to prevent leaks -- leaking. And leaking just as badly as if he had never done the job at all. Seriously, avoid this company. They're a mess. read more

Hallmark Chimney Sweeps - Chimney Sweeps Near Me - Moreno Valley, California

It takes a lot for me to write a bad review, however I am very dissatisfied with the lack of customer service from Hallmark Chimney Sweeps. I made an appointment for September 13th to have our chimney swept (I made this appointment early as to avoid the true busy season) - I informed them that I had a two story home. When they arrived (about an hour late - no call to inform us that they would be late) to assess the chimney, they informed my husband that they didn't bring a tall enough ladder, and that they would have to come back a different day. They did not follow up with us, so I called them to schedule another appointment. They said they were very busy (which is why I tried to make the appointment in September in the first place). The next available appointment that worked for both of our schedules was Tuesday, Oct. 29th, so I booked that day about a month ahead of time. On the Saturday, prior to my appointment, I received a voicemail from them apologizing that they would not be able to make it to the appointment today (Saturday) - which was confusing to me because I never made an appointment for Saturday - so I called Betty (who works with them) to clarify and confirm my appointment for Tuesday the 29th and she said "oh...there was something I was supposed to tell you about the 29th, but I don't remember what it is...I will have someone call you back about it." This was concerning to me. Then I never received a call from them, so I called them...again...to confirm my appointment for Tuesday the 29th, and he told me that he was going to have to cancel my appointment for Tuesday because he had several clients cancel on him that day and that he couldn't drive from Crestline to Redlands for one appointment, as it would be a waste of money. He said he could come Thursday though and that's about all he could do. Unfortunately, my husband and I are both busy on Thursday (which is why we tried MULTIPLE times to plan ahead) and it would not work for us. I explained my utter frustration and annoyance with the cancellation, as it was their negligence in the first place for not bringing a tall enough ladder to sweep a two story home, and he said he really couldn't help me, he is just trying to a make a living. This, I understand, and I feel bad that they were cancelled on by several clients, however, why would you turn around and do the exact same thing to a client. Bad way to run a business. Very unorganized. If I would have known a month ago that they cancelled appointments for convenience, I would have booked with someone else. Very poor management. read more

Had them out to our residence 2 years ago. We had to wait to put our funds together to finish the job. Called them 2 weeks ago said they would be in our area in a couple of weeks. Kept calling to get a Day for an appointment. Finally after 4 phone calls they said they could come out this summer. Why would I need my fireplace fixed in the summer when it is 100 degrees. Poor follow up. Horrible service. Walt Lange read more

So happy with your service! I just bought a house in Crestline. While Hallmark is not on the Mountain they were highly recommended by my Realtor for good service and good pricing. Dale came out to sweep the chimney and do some repairs. He explained how my chimney worked inside and out. We looked at the roof and compared to other houses. He really educated me on how to build the fire and ways to keep it buring hot and clean. Next he mended the fire box - I thought it would have to be replaced, but no, he made it almost as good as new. BTW, this is a 50 year old house. It did take most of the day; boy was it worth the time. That night we had a beautiful fire and not an ounce of smoke in the house. I have never seen a chinmey draw the smoke out like that. We will definately call Hallmark again in a couple years when it is time for anohter sweep. Thanks read more

Highest quality service, again. I had Hallmark repair my firebox last summer after I bought my retirement home in Lake Arrowhead. They were by far the cheapest price a year ago. The refractor plate in the firebox was defective and they replaced it at no charge. No up charge to sweep the chimney as it wasn't needed. A warranty repair was made with no attempt to sell me anything I didn't need. Awesome integrity.... I will be a customer as long as I live here and burn wood for heat read more
