Having some outside seating means that it is dog friendly, very important for us as we often holiday with our pup. Well the reason for going to a tapas bar, apart from the wine, is the food and on that front they don't dissappoint. Everything we tried was fabulous. Not sure what to order, try a tasting plate, a great way to sample many dishes. If, like me, you don't eat meat then they are only to happy to create something special. Their lunch time special is great value, the tapas of the day plus a drink for $10. The service is always warm and friendly, they brought a water bowl for our dog, and all-round great value, so much so that we came back a number of times. Next time we're in Forster this will be the first place we head to.

They use Pablo and Rusty beans which I hadn't had before but I shall now be seeking out around Sydney if I can. The food was also divine! I had the pulled pork brioche which was mouthwatering. The pork almost melted in my mouth and the apple sauce on the bun was home made. They also have a range of delicious homemade cupcakes and cakes in a display case as you walk in. The white chocolate and raspberry and the cherry ripe cupcakes were the personal favourite of the barista so we had to try them and there were no regrets there. There's also a variety of local wines from the Gloucester and Hunter Regions for sale as well as on their menu. They seem to do tapas style foods at night which I can imagine would be a great treat! In a city full of soulless TAB-illuminated meat markets, Terrace Bar is a breath of fresh air…read more A social experiment of sorts, Terrace Bar is the debut product of Newcastle's "small bar movement" and boy have they shown us what we've been missing. Set up in a faux-derelict manner (behind the bar is the only modern aspect to the place), it owes a lot to Melbourne's hipster-chic scene, from the boutique beer selection to the fantastic DJ sets and impromptu dance floor. The atmosphere is great, friends and completely without any of the confrontational attitudes that plague... well.. just a bout every other bar in Newcastle. Only minus is that the license is only til midnight. The host live gigs and other performances in the small venue upstairs and also have a rooftop beer garden (as I said: "Melbourne") which is now open from lunchtimes at the weekends throughout the Summer. Only open Thursday-Sunday, this is a fantastic addition to the city and hopefully it will thrive.

Downstairs you'd think they would go out of business but upstairs is where the people are. Back down by the bar was a dj playing great music with enough space for an impromptu dance. Not my type of place but I can appreciate what they are trying to achieve here.
