The hosts are part of charm of this B&B. We got a demo of the player pianos and tour of the collection of cars. Bill and John were renovating their kitchen while we were there, but we were still treated to home-made yogurt and muffins and some of the best waffles I have ever had. We hope to return to see what they have done. Our Art Deco Hollywood suite was very comfortable and private. And, yes, we could lock the door. The grounds and gardens outside were beautiful. The experience could not have been better. We want to go back.

They are wonderful! They do anything they can to make their guests feel like they belong. Finally, there is the house itself. Enjoy mechanical music? Boy have they got it! There are at least four grand reproducing pianos, a pianola, a full player organ, numerous rare music boxes, and victrolas and radios of every sort. Then there is the collection of rare clocks...to many to count. During the summer, you will probably receive a tour of the spectacular antique car collection which includes two Franklin Automobiles and an American LaFrance roadster, to name a few. Caroll is a great hostess and wonderful cook. We used not only the rooms but the Garden Center for the bridal party hair and makeup, the pavilion and fire ring for the rehearsal dinner and the grounds for gorgeous bridal party pictures. Our wedding was not held there, but she hosts wedding as well. I would have loved to have more time to just enjoy the peace and quiet on the porch.

At that time, it felt like a true bed-and-breakfast experience with thoughtful personal touches (guests were welcomed with a bottle of wine, breakfast was full and clearly made with care, and the overall atmosphere felt warm and attentive). Over the past couple of years, especially since the addition of their second location, I've noticed some changes in the overall experience. The level of personal interaction feels more limited than it used to, and check-in and general hospitality have become more minimal. I do understand how difficult it can be to find and retain good staff in the hospitality industry, and I appreciate the effort that goes into running a business like this. The biggest change for me has been the food and dining experience. They are no longer offering a bottle of wine in the room, but a glass of wine ordered at the bar. Breakfast, which used to be a real highlight is now much more basic and doesn't feel as thoughtfully prepared as it once did. Pricing has also increased, while the overall food offerings have decreased in both variety and quality. One of our favorite extras used to be the charcuterie platter for two, which we would order one each stay and enjoy in our room. We've stopped ordering it because both the portion size and product quality no longer felt consistent with the price or with our earlier experiences. Overall, I still like Deer Creek Inn, our favorite rooms are the Brooks Deluxe Suite and the Celebration room. We will continue to visit occasionally, but it no longer has quite the same special feel it once did for us, so I won't be going as often as I used to.

In the early morning hours and sometimes even during the day - the surrounding hills cover with fog and you feel like you're standing on an island in the middle of the ocean. It's utterly breathtaking. (I highly recommend staying in the upstairs bedroom! Super comfy beds, an awesome bathroom/shower, and a perfect view of the rolling hills!) A large group of wedding vendors and I photographed a styled wedding on the property and we couldn't have been happier with the end result. There are acres and acres of beautiful trails to walk, a large pond full of fish, an awesome bonfire and outdoor bar, as well as a beautiful barn on the land. The space is utterly perfect for country or outdoor weddings! I cannot wait to visit again - both for professional reasons and for personal! Also, it is part of the Choice brand which I joined( which took about 2 minutes). Therefore when we arrived and they didn't have a first floor king available at our reservation rate, they upgraded us free of charge.
