    Missing light bulb
    Brenda W.

This place is awful by any standards for a hotel. Can't speak for the restaurant. I'm terribly disappointed that Booking.Com even has this as an option. Let's run down the list: Pros: 1) Location to Benezette to see the elks was convenient enough (about 17 miles); therefore, we opted for this place. 2) Shower was hot. 3) Bed was comfortable enough. 4) Flat screen TV with free cable tv. Cons: 1) I did expect 1950's décor so that alone didn't deter me. However, it was so old and tired and decrepit with other flaws that one can tell the owners barely spent a nickel putting money back into this place. 2) Missing light bulb from strip above bath mirror. 3) Horrible lighting such that I wasn't even able to read a book even when I moved one of the table lamps. 4) Many stains on the ceiling tiles in both the bedroom area and shower area. 5) Lots of black flying fly-like insects in the bathroom. 6) I had to try to dry my hair using a different outlet than the one nearest the bath mirror because the outlets were upside down and my hairdryer wouldn't stay plugged in they were so loose. 7) Free continental breakfast was the barest of minimums to even call it that. It did include bread for toast, packaged vending machine quality pastry, packaged OJ, coffee, cereal. 9) Numbers 2 thru 6 just gave me the feeling that if I looked too closely, I wouldn't want to on the cleanliness aspect so I didn't. Bottom line: I wish I had paid more for better accommodations elsewhere and next time I will.

    1950's dinner glass

Showed up in Ridgway several hours before my friends and needed dinner. Climbed boot jack hill to the Royal Inn because Wednesday is all you can eat crab leg night I was told. Mediocre food is the best I can say. Crab legs were very small and the beer glasses look like diner glasses. Very unappealing to drink a beer from these glasses. Pretty pricey also for the type of food served. Not sure where else to eat in this town but try somewhere else. Ho hum.

If you're looking for fine dining the Royal Inn Restaurant is one of the very finest in the area. This was our first time here. The menu selection is outstanding, the food is excellent, the staff friendly, professional and fun to talk with. When the owner saw that our daughter's wheelchair couldn't fit through the ladies room door he said that he would get a carpenter there to fix that. You couldn't ask for more. I had the French onion soup as an appetizer, all you can eat steak and shrimp (only $20.00) and turtle cheesecake for desert and everything was excellent ..... all of the deserts are absolutely incredible! The steaks were succulent and the butterfly shrimp were large. Everyone's meal was top notch. I wish I could give this restaurant more than a 5 star review! :) We'll be back!

Great atmosphere, great service, great food....a bit pricey....but worth it on occasion.

The legs on the upper right are the perfect legs that came out on the first plate. The garbage on the left is what you get for refills.

No stars would be great. It's been 6 months since our last visit, we were hoping they changed their ways. Imagine my shock when I saw they now charge $34.99 for the crab legs. Same deal as usual, perfect legs on the first plate, total s**t after that. Green meat and the same odd smell. I don't get it, I really don't. My other half said he would be embarrassed to serve these. The people at the table next to us were just as disgusted. For about $90 for two people with drinks and tip, screw that. This is my absolute last review of the Royal Inn, because we seriously will not be back again. Be sure to check out the picture I've added.

Average hotel rooms, the TVs are really small

My kids squealed and asked for a donut. We decided to eat in, kids got donuts and we ordered full breakfasts. OMG-I can't say enough about the fresh bread served with breakfast, delicious biscuits and gravy, eggs were done perfect to our asking, bacon cooked nicely and hash browns perfect. SO GOOD! And then the donuts. Are you kidding me? We took them to go with a cup of coffee and what a delicious treat to have in the car. I seriously saved this place to my favourites because, although we are on a road trip-I'd definitely come out of my way for the food and baked items. The staff was so nice, as well. My kids were energetic for the early morning and very excited about the donuts and they engaged them with discussion about the donuts etc, having a co variation with them vs discounting them. Even giggled at my twins excitement over the treats. Felt like a l welcoming place, in a small town with kind people and great food. I even noticed how patiently the waitstaff explained a dish to another patron (who had a lot of questions and was comparing different meals with the waitress), it was handled with kindness, patience and truly a conversation that answered the patrons questions with integrity. Everything about Joeys is WELL DONE!

This town was very nice and we pinpointed it, to check it out again during a future trip. The snow started hitting hard, so walking into the bright, warm and lively bar/restaurant was exactly what we needed mid road trip. Almost all the tables were full, so we chose to sit at the end of the bar, almost full of take out boxes (usually a good sign). The menu was full of your bar favorites, but included variations and suggested offerings. I liked the options in sides, burger lb sizes, sandwich and starter options- which catered to our groups diverse palate. The staff were busy, but had character, were nice and honest in opinions when engaged about their menu. I took the bartenders suggestion to have the Guiness Burger, scrapped the chips for curly fries with ranch dressing, and had a side salad to start. Everything was fresh and crispy, and picturesque lol. Came out, as if they were made in a tester kitchen. The place was real clean, inviting and the beer selection in the cleanly lit beer coolers were tempting- had we not had a long trip ahead of us. Maybe we will stop by on our way back to try more. My friends had the crinkle cut fries with nacho cheese, steak sub, cowboy burger and hot dog. Everyone enjoyed their meals.

You select the items you want to purchase and then bring to the restaurant. Walking into the café/restaurant, there wasn't a sign "wait here to be seated" etc. or anything like that.. so we caught the attention of a waitress who was friendly and sat us at a table. The forest nook was busy on this Saturday afternoon. The patrons seem to be locals and visitors as well. The menu had something for everyone and our server was quite friendly. My boyfriend ordered the personal pizza which was incredibly fresh. I ordered the steak and cheese sandwich. My sandwich was also delicious and very filling. There were specialty cocktails available as well as beer on the menu. I really enjoyed the outside décor of The Forest Nook. The restaurant updates their hours and special events on their facebook page. They also accept reservations on their website. We had a great first experience and cannot to return!!

UN BE LIEVABLE…read more The food, the service, the value, the staff! Hard to put into words how cool this night was at the bar as a solo dude here in PA on business. They had cheese, chicken and steak options on their quesadillas. I asked if they could do grilled shrimp instead. "YEP" It was the largest, chunkiest, tastiest quesadilla I've ever had! They tossed in sour cream, salsa and pico without batting an eye or adding cost to it. I asked the gal that emerged from the kitchen if she was the chef. She was indeed the saint who made my quesadilla, so I was able to let her know I had just consumed the nectar of the Tex/Mex gods in her offering. The bartender/my server was the nicest, most easy going person ever. He could be selling airplanes for Boeing but somehow he's here doing his craft. I've traveled the US and have gone to literally hundreds of sports bars/restaurants etc. It's hard to describe when you don't encounter a negative person or scene in any conversation or request. If I lived around here I'd sleep in the parking lot so I don't miss a meal or drink oppo. If there were 10 stars I'd give it. I've left some harsh reviews so I don't type the above lightly. Yay! Unfortunately, when we arrived, the last Bean Burger had been sold and the black beans listed as a side were actually cooked in some heavy butter... so it became one of those stops where only French fries were the hot vegan option... because who wants a cold salad when it's 20°F?! In any case, the server was very nice about it and the Craft Beer was still vegan, and because we called ahead about the vegan burger option, they even comped the fries for running out. So- disappointed it wasn't as hearty as we hoped for a vegan on our arrival- but very kind to apologize with comped fries. For those who weren't vegan- the French Dip on ciabatta was on special and sooooo good. I don't like horseradish and it didn't overwhelm the flavor, so it was absolutely perfect! The pulled pork melt with crispy fried onions and bbq sauce was also excellent with a very crunchy buttered thick Texas toast bread.
