I have traveled for work a couple of times to Ridgway and many of the local people suggested this restaurant. I ordered a few drinks and was about to leave when the waitress served some customers some chicken wings with a white sauce on it. I asked her what kind of sauce it was and she said it was "Alabama white chicken ". I had to try it. I ordered a dozen wings with ranch and blu cheese and took them to my hotel. They are delicious. My car died in their parking lot yesterday. The girls at the bar called a tow for me and I got a room for the night for my son and I. Went down to the restaurant for lunch and ordered a fried chicken sandwich and my son had a burger with a fried egg and a basket of house cut fries. If they ask you if you want chips get them. They make their own potato chips!!! Hot from the frier potato chips. The girls at the bar and servers were all just as sweet as can be. Knowing we were stranded Mary (the only name I caught) showed up this morning with fresh donuts from a bakery in town for us and a bag full of drinks and sandwiches. What could've been a very bad time (my car is on its way to the junkyard) was made into a really good time. It was snowing hard so the wood stove was burning in the restaurant. Other than that the room was perfect. Great cable tv with loads of channels and a VERY deep bathtub. Road noise because it's at an interchange is to be expected in a motel. We really wanted to like this place. We had a kind server, the atmosphere was cool, and the wings were amazing... but holy cow, the management must be unbelievably greedy. My husband ordered a side salad for an appetizer and they charged him $1.50 for dressing. We were not informed of this "up-charge" until we got the bill. That's right, the small, overpriced, ho hum side salad for around $3.75 did not include dressing. Who does that? Who doesn't include dressing in the price of a salad? We also had to pay $1.50 each for a cup of ranch to go with our wings. I could see 50¢ or 75¢ for ranch, but man... we spent around $4-5 for dressing alone. We walked out with a bill close to $40.00 for two orders of a dozen wings, one small basket of fries, one small side salad, and two soft drinks. I could go to many rural PA bars and get decent wings and fries for two people for around $20-25. Just completely overpriced! The last straw for me was going into the women's room and finding it dirty. The one toilet had what appeared to be blood on it. The other toilet stall had no TP on the holder... thank goodness there was some spare on the back of the commode... In general it needed attention and wasn't getting it. read more

Service was awful. We waited over an hour for our food and in that time our waitress didn't come by until we asked another person about our order. Never asked if there was anything they could get us, or even apologize, just a curt "we're busy. When the first order was brought to the table it was a dump and run. The check was not itemized with prices, no line for tax. They allowed people to wander around without masks, including a male employee that went into the kitchen area maskless. I would rather eat out of a garbage truck than ever step foot in this poorly run establishment ever again. One star is more than I'm willing to give but it's unfortunately the minimum. The three minutes I spent there were the most useless and most regret filled moments of my life thus far. The staff is rude, disrespectful, and incompetent. We came in with a large party and we were willing to come up with a solution to the problem of them not having a big enough table. However, they did nothing but ignore our suggestions and brush us away rudely. Here's a tip for the staff; quit and never work in customer service again. Run as far as you can. Seriously, sleep in your car if you have to. But don't stay here. I was travelling from Wyoming with a coworker, doing work in Saint Marys. The Comfort Inn screwed up our reservation, and every hotel was booked. We were desperate, and the Comfort Inn told us that the Royal Inn in Ridgway was old but decent. So we head that way, and were so relieved to see a hotel that we stopped at the Summit instead. You have to go in the bar to get anyone to tell you if there are rooms available. Classy. We even saw the rooms before we booked... holy crap, but okay. We're exhausted and we can always book something else for tomorrow? They make you pay ahead so we paid for 3 days, and were told that if we need to check out early they'll just refund our card. The woman at the bar was overworked but very nice and helpful... said we didn't need to worry about trying to find someone at the bar to check out, and could just leave our keys in our rooms on the dresser when we left. I travel for work and am in crappy hotels constantly, but I can't even describe how bad the rooms were. The wood panelling is falling from the walls, the shower curtain was duct taped, the water was cold, and the people screwing in the next room had some serious stamina (amongst other issues, all of which I could hear as clearly as if they were in the same room). Without any judgment whatsoever, I'm pretty sure it was a prostitute. The beds are circa 1968, and the sheets have a thread count of approximately 3. I can't even... I want to describe how bad it was (and how forgiving I usually am) but words escape me. Turns out, they have a 24-hour cancellation policy and because we checked in so late the first time, we had to stay a second night. Good God. But we said okay, and lined up another hotel for the 3rd night. The same nice bartender answered when I called the first morning to tell them we didn't need the 3rd night (more than 36 hours ahead of time) and said to leave the key on the dresser when we check out, and our refund would post to our cards. Refund for the 3rd night was never issued. It took seven days of leaving constant messages at the bar (the manager and owner are never around) before a $30 refund appeared on my credit card. No one ever called for indicate where that amount came from, since the hotel was $57.74 per night. My co-worker and I continued calling and being told that T.O. (the owner) is very busy with his other construction company, and that the manager (Tracey) wasn't in. We both left messages every time, but no one would return our calls. I finally called to see if I could get the remainder of our refund, and happened to catch Tracey. She was beyond rude. She told me that I "wasn't her f*****g problem" and she "didn't know why I kept bothering her when this is T.O.'s problem." I told her that I couldn't get T.O. to return my calls. She told me that he had refunded what he thought was fair ($30) because "we didn't check out" and no one knew we were gone... despite that we had called to tell them we were leaving Wednesday, and we left the keys on the room dresser as instructed. She told me to stop bothering her, and when I protested she told me to "not get f*****g lippy" with her. I admit to losing my temper after that and called the hotel a 'choice' word (but it IS a sh*thole!). She responded by telling me to "go f**k myself" and called me a "f*****g tramp" before hanging up. My co-worker and I have no choice but to cut our losses. The Summit, as far as I am concerned, stole $27.72 from both of us and we have no recourse to get it back. Tracey told me that I was welcome to come back to Pennsylvania and "complain to her face," but I think I'll pass. This is the most ridiculous experience that I've had, throughout many many years of traveling almost daily. The locals spoke very highly of the Royal Inn and its restaurant... save yourself some grief and go there. read more

Food is excellent, service is....meh. Pretty bad when you have to wait an hour or more to even get your drinks when your dining. It's not a fancy restraunt, it's a bar. Hire more waitresses. Well i have recently stayed there, and with a whole new facelift to the outside, it says it all about the inside. I stayed there years ago, and almost couldn't believe all of the changes and improvements made to that place. A new deck added onto the lounge area, along with a small outside fireplace, perfect for smoking customers. Or a sunny day, as there are CORONA umbrellas over the tables, I had to laugh at the beer advertising. But the lounge was all re-done. And, actually, I met the owner who showed me where they are also adding new restrooms, and completely redoing the lounge area yet again. My wife and I had a small group with us who also stayed here for the weekend. The rooms we had were all remodeled and well-worth the price. Also, I must mention the food, they actually have BUFFALO and ELK steaks and burgers. We tried these, very good. We also tried the wings, believe it or not- they have like 30 varieties. My wife had the ribs, it was literally at least a half of a rack. And we did sing karaoke again this time, but only after a few drinks. OH... I can't forget these crazy shots we did. They were some kind of a frozen thing that looked like something a scientist created as it boiled and smoked. I was almost afraid of it, but gave in. So I'm not sure if it will be a few years until we get back up that way or not, but I would definitely reccommend that place to anyone. I am currently rating all the places we ate at, stayed at, stopped at, and partied at on our trip, and this is one of the better ones. read more
