Lynn is amazing! We hired her as our florist for our wedding bouquets and reception dinner at the Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay (Ceremony is done separately at Stanford). She has a very good knowledge on flowers and provided valuable suggestions on picking the flowers and the theme color. We wanted specifically princess Kate's bouquet style, and she managed to make a beautiful one out of it. She also created simple and elegant bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages that match my bouquet for other wedding parties. The room decoration is also very nice. We were back at Long Branch Farms this last weekend for my daughter's bat mitzvah and decided to call upon Half Moon Flowers once again to help us with floral arrangements. We really leaned into the western theme and had deep dark brown table cloths and cow print runners, so we were looking for something that would bring in a color and femininity without losing the western charm. Half Moon Flowers really delivered! The arrangements were stunning and really added to the decor that we had planned for the event. We also had long farm tables, and I was worried about the arrangements looking sparse, but they made sure we had some large arrangements and smaller arrangements in between so there was great coverage all along the table scapes. She also did a stunning job on the arrangements for where we held the service. We were really so, so happy! Lynn at Half Moon Flowers created the floral arrangements for my wedding this past weekend at the Oceano Hotel. They were, to say the least, AMAZING! My bridal bouquet, bridesmaid's bouquets, and floral archway piece were just beautiful. The boutonnieres that Lynn created were unique as well. Our centerpieces were also exactly how I had envisioned--and actually a bit improved from sample Lynn provided us a few months before our big day. To top it off, the flowers she provided for the cake table made our cake look so elegant. It was definitely one of the highlights of the reception room. Working with Lynn was relatively easy. I e-mailed her a bunch of photos for inspiration, and she incorporated all of my ideas into the arrangements. I told her what kind of flowers I liked and what kind of flowers I didn't like. I told Lynn a few weeks before the wedding that I suddenly didn't like the "flat" look of gerbera daisies, and she made sure she didn't incorporate gerberas in our final arrangements. Since my wedding was at the Oceano, it was also incredibly convenient to have Half Moon Flowers as my florist (they're located in the small shopping plaza attached to the Oceano). With any florist it's tough to envision what the final product will look like -- you might have photos for inspiration, but it's the florist that will take those photos, combine them with your comments and preferences, and create something beautiful for you. We just had our wedding at the Oceano Hotel, right next door to Half Moon Flowers, this past Friday. I will post more pics when the photographer gets the professional ones to us. Lynn is amazing and such a pleasure to work with! We got married at the Oceano Hotel in April and found her via their list of preferred vendors. We also wanted to hire someone local to the area so it worked out. Sometimes I have a hard time explaining what I want but Lynn took my random ramblings and brought my vision to life! She's super easy to work with and helped me create a unique ceremony and reception space for our wedding. She also made sure that I wasn't going over my budget. Every time I had a change or wanted to add something, she was very transparent about the cost and alternatives we could do to achieve the same vision without breaking the bank. She's also super flexible. Our original wedding date was August 2020 but had to postpone due to COVID. We were so glad we were able to rebook her for our April wedding. Leila and Half Moon Flowers really helped make our wedding very special. We met Leila about 6 months before the wedding to discuss what we wanted. After the visit Leila followed up with a written contract on what we had agreed to. I felt confident that everything with respect to flowers was well taken care of and it was. My wife met Leila in the city to visit the flower market in the days leading up to the wedding and she had a great time. This type of personal service really makes the difference. We were completely at ease and were really looking forward to the flowers on the day. When the big day arrived it was great to see Leila again. We were all blown away with the arrangements. We had changed quite a few details leading up the the wedding (circular banquet tables became long tables for instance) and Leila just took it all in her stride. Even on the day we "surprised" her with a different seating arrangement for the ceremony but she just laughed and made the flowers work with the new seating. Leila incorporated everything we wanted (and we had some weird ideas) but she also added some little surprises herself...... we had wine barrels at the ceremony location and she made little arrangements with grapes in them to go on the barrels. It would have been so easy to just do flowers, but these little bits of thought really separates the good from the great. The other cool thing was that the bouquets were different from the flowers on the chairs, which were different from the buttons, which were different from the arrangements on the barrels, which were different from the table arrangements. Despite them being different and unique in their own way, there was a theme throughout them all that made them all gel with each other. Our goal was to have unique, non-cookie cutter flowers at our wedding, with some things we really wanted in them (thistles) and some creativity thrown in. I worked with Leila to do the flowers for my wedding. It was a destination wedding and so everything was done remotely, mainly via email but the flowers came out absolutely gorgeous. I really wanted to use succulents and have kind of a garden, not so formal bouquets and she made that happen. I had hoped to incorporate coral peonies but they were out of season so she ensured me she would find a substitute which ended up being coral roses and although the rose is a more traditional flower than I would have asked for, it worked really well in the bouquets. The one bump in the road was the day of the wedding when the flowers got delivered and there was no hair piece for me. The deliverers called Leila who said she had no record of it but that she would quickly put something together for me. I had wanted a succulent for my hair - and she mentioned she used them all in my bouquets. She must have managed to dig up some tiny ones, because an hour and a half later that is what they came back with. They were more green than the blue-ish ones from my bouquets which I preferred but in the end it worked out, and I appreciated her working to immediately correct the situation. Half Moon Flowers did a great job creating bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, and flower arrangements for our wedding, which was held at the neighboring Oceano Hotel, in April. Leila Simms, the owner, was very friendly and wonderful to work with and struck a great balance of offering sage advice on and a tone of warmth and openness to my and my mother's ideas. She helped us select the best flowers for the season that also matched my slightly non-traditional approach. My bouquet was primarily made of peonies and roses, and my bridesmaids had smaller versions of the same. Our boutonnieres had tea roses and sweet peas. All the flowers were of amazing quality and held up for over 2 weeks after the wedding. I've been to many other weddings where the flowers were wilting the next day. Leila was also generous with her time and materials; she made a few extra arrangements the morning of the wedding at my mother's request, and even provided ribbons to decorate our chairs at the reception at no cost. Compared to other florists we met with, Leila was much friendlier and much more reasonably priced. Other florists expected me to have an exact vision of the flowers I wanted and offered no creative advice, which was very off-putting considering their prices. We had my daughter's wedding at the Maverick Event Center and Leila did the flowers. The flowers were exquisite. Her bouquet was gardenias and roses and absolutely gorgeous. The bridesmaids flowers were outstanding. Leila made a beautiful entry way arrangement of white gladiolas, white hydrangeas and white orchids. The arrangement was outstanding. She also decorated our tables with candles and orchids submerged in water in tall vases. This was absolutely beautiful. While I agree that her arrangements are excellent, I did not find her to be professional at all. I talked with her in February about making my bouquet in July. Maybe because it was a small job she didn't feel the need to pay attention to me. She kept telling me how "easy" things would be and "don't worry" and then went back on a promise of a delivery of the bouquet. There was no way I could drive to her on my wedding day. I had to have a friend of mine drive to her home and pick up the flowers while she wasn't there. He had to deal with her family and that was really awkward for him on top of causing me a lot of stress. I wasn't able to take my photos with my flowers. I also never got a receipt for payment even after I asked her for one. Overall, she's not worth the trouble she causes. And I did not appreciate her going back on an agreement. read more
