I'm not sure if this is the location in the Fort Lauderdale airport but I tried the kiosk. I had the original chicken option as the creamed spinach option was not available. It was just OK. The service was nothing to write home about. And as a kiosk I have nothing to say about the ambience. I hear that the breakfast ones are pretty good. I think the outside toward the edges the meat was colder which I guess makes sense but overall it wasn't a piping hot empanada and only tasted moderately fresh. I didn't hate the flavors overall. I had dinner close by but still had a sweet tooth. Walked by this location hoping they had desserts and thankfully they did. The young lady that greeted me was very friendly. I decided on the Banana Split Empanada. WOW. Mind blown. It's dulce de leche, banana, nutella, chocolate chips and marshmallows. It was scorching hot inside and everything seemed like it was melted into each other, would have been even better if it was a little more deconstructed. Expensive, average empanadas. Everything they sell is overpriced. I don't mind paying more for food that's truly flavorful and fresh but that's not the case here. Even their sweets seem like they've been sitting in a fridge, not fresh, and way overpriced. The staff is generally friendly and careful to handle your order with gloves. Empanadas are a very important part of a well balanced diet. Ha! Discovering these were a true blessing. Presentation is everything. How many times have you wondered what is inside your treat? Biting into it only to realize you bit into the wrong one! This place stamps their food with the fillings, so you never have to guess again. I thought that was both clever and cute. Ham & Cheese will forever be my favorite. They stuff it to the max; they don't allow empty bites here. And the cheese to ham ratio is perfect. The spicy beef is a Latin take on a Jamaican pattie. Ground beef seasoned to both satisfy and kick you right where you need it. This place also offers Pies. These "pies" are larger than empanadas, in the shape of a square. Let's be honest, no one really just eats 1 empanada. These are made for the hungry peeps. Try the pepperoni & Cheese pie...tastes like a pizza. I only know about 2 half moon locations.
