Susan and her care team at Half Moon Bay Dogs have been boarding, grooming and watching my dog on various vacations since 2016. As an anxious dog mom, I really appreciate Susan's responsiveness and communication through daily texts and updates. She cares so much and it shows from the smooth drop off and pick up processes. My dog is always happy, clean and exhausted upon his return home. There is an option for pick up and drop off with the Half Moon Bay Dogs mobile pick up van. I boarded Lola for the first time since I rescued her a few months ago. I was worried about her feeling I had deserted her. Well, don't waste your time worrying!! She was treated with all the love and care any dog needs. Thank you Susan for such wonderful care. Susan thought Lola got too dirty playing and got her bed dirty. Solution! Wash them both. Where do I even start? Susan and her staff at HMB Dogs are of a different league to other facilities. Happy, my 1 year old sheepadoodle, is super friendly but also very attached to his humans. I was very worried to leave him behind when we decided to leave for a few days last month, and more recently a week+ this month. I shopped around for boarding facilities and visited a handful, locally. When I met Susan and saw her ranch, I was SOLD. I can say with 100% confidence that Happy LOVES going to Susan and meeting his new best friends. Having been boarded 3 times now (1 night trial, 4 nights, 10 nights) --I will share that he pulls us in at drop off and never looks back (I begged him to give me a goodbye kiss but he was too excited to see his new best friend - hi, Junie :)). My dog loves Half Moon Bay Dogs! I have used other dog care services in Half Moon Bay and have had issues with others being flaky, forgetting to pick up, picking up on the wrong day. I have NEVER had those issues with Half Moon Bay Dogs. They are so professional, responsible, and caring. The owner, Susan Richards, is uber nice and fantastic, and used to own her own preschool. Now she has gone from preschoolers to pups, and I'm so happy that she did. She is extremely "on-the-ball," and conscientious. I love that my dog goes to someone who I trust so completely. Susan's property is large and fenced, which allows the dogs to run around and play with each other. Susan also offers walks around her neighborhood for dogs that need a bit more activity. I also highly recommend HMB dogs for boarding. My dog gets so much exercise and has so much fun when he goes for boarding. He comes home tired, happy, and worn out from playcare and from boarding. Half Moon Bay Dogs is the best. Susan walks the talk, she fosters for rescue organizations and assists with training. I recommend HMB Dogs for daycare and boarding. The facility is clean and designed well for daycare and boarding. The dogs are under supervision playing and running. Susan has a well-working routine for daycare and boarders. I moved to El Granada and as promised I got my daughter a puppy. I realIzed quickly I was going to need some doggy daycare and was recommended to HMB dogs. Me and my pup could not be happier. Susan and Tom are the best, and my dog gets so excited to see them every time they come to pick her up, and she comes home exhausted - signs of a great day. I wanted to find a safe and happy place for my Basset Hound Hulkie to go to daycare. When Suzan called me to set up a meet and greet we ended up talking for 20 min about some problems I was having with crate training. She gave me some great advice and is very knowledgeable about canine behavior. The facilities are extremely clean and it is very clear they love animals and dogs. She welcomed Hulkie with open arms and he LOVES it there. When I pull up to drop him off he pulls on the lead to go play . He really loves them and they have drop off and pick up service as well. HMB Dogs and Susan in particular has been an amazing place for my rescue dog, Lyla. At first, Lyla (at 4 months old) was a bit nervous around other dogs. She was unable to read dog cues. After spending 3 days/week with Susan (who knows canine behavior really well), Lyla has transformed. She looks forward to going to doggy daycare---jumps right out of the car and knows exactly where to go. She was also not keen on entering the crate and now, no problem. Trudy is the best. We have used a lot of dog sitters over the years. Many dog walkers and borders take too many dogs. I have never seen Trudy with too many dogs. They come home tired and happy. Trudy opens up her home to the dogs. She gives them lots of one-on-one love and attention. I never feel guilty about leaving our dog with her. She is also an excellent trainer. Trudy is fantastic. She took great care of my little best buddy Duke when I left town. We had interviewed and tried other trainers. Our four month labradoodle was out of control or should I say his human family was. He bit us a few times, but worst of all bit our granddaughter in the face. We decided it was time to return him to the breeder. His breeder, Merydith Fox of By the Bay Labradoodles encouraged us to contact Susan Richards at Half Moon Bay Dogs to work with him before giving him up. We took him there the next day. Susan trained and boarded him for 51/2 days. During that time he was socialized in many ways, not only to dogs but to the trainer Susan, who was loving but at the same time made his boundaries clear. He quickly learned he wasn't the alpha. In addition, she communicated with us each day about how he was doing, sent terrific instructional videos of dogs out of control and how to behave around a dog as an human alpha. She even allowed our grandkids to come up to give them tips and practice their roles as alphas as well. It went beautifully! I cringe now at the thought that we were ready to give him up. He has calmed down, follows commands, no longer bugs us at the dinner table, no longer jumps on visitors and most importantly is no longer biting us. We too are following her suggestions and video examples and are delighted with the results. This was accomplished in 5 short days! He's such a sweet, wonderful and well behaved puppy. Terrific doggy daycare and boarding in a lovely rural setting in Montara/Moss Beach. This is no factory situation. You can go off to work or leave on vacation knowing that your dog will be getting personalized attention. My dog (an older, only dog) is not very interested in other dogs, and prefers curling up on the sofa with me to hanging around with other dogs, and she was quite happy there. On the 2 occasions I was there, the other dogs there weren't barking (sign of unhappiness or something wrong) and seemed quite content. I'll be bringing my girl back here whenever I'm out of town. read more

Our German Shorthair Pointer has a LOT of energy. He needs daily runs. Not just runs, but RUNS! Chasing stuff for over an hour, socialization, etc. Susan at HMB Dogs does a great job with him. He comes home exhausted everyday. I strongly believe a tired dog is a good dog. Susan is great and communicates well and always gets back to me quickly. Our 4 year old rescue dog, who was raised in a garage before we got her, is now more sociable thanks to Half Moon Bay Dogs day care and overnight boarding.
