Lindsay became my bff the second I walked in…read more So here's the sitch. Im visiting from NYC and getting a prdicure at a nail salon around the corner. Sitting next to Kat, we instantly start chatting up and talking about the neighborhood and our trip. We're in Chicago and then heading to Vegas for a festival which I still don't have an outfit for. And as luck would have it, she says she works at Felt around the corner and we should definitely head over! We head over to the magical world of Felt and meet the magical Lindsay. Lindsay was my fairy godbestie. She listened to where we were going, my style, and my body. I recently lost weight so I don't have lots of clothes or much style. Clothing shopping has always been tough for me. Lindsay pulled together pieces for me and set up a room. Cue the early 2000's movie changing room montage. Also did I mention the free champagne?! So I'm switching in and out of outfits for my partner and Lindsay to look at on the couch and big mirror which my partner and I drink champagne. I didn't even give Lindsay my sizes (because I don't even know my size anymore) and yet almost every piece fit. And every piece was a different size, medium, large, different numbers, etc. like is she a wizard?! We left the store with summer shorts, an awesome blue, strapless top that ties in the back, and a white skirt with black polka dots for funsies for work (great material, holds it's like 60s waves and is double lined so not see through) Not only did I walk out of there with clothes, but I walked out of there happy, with CONFIDENCE, and a beautiful sense sisterhood. Lindsay is such a girls girl. As a curvy woman, clothing shopping can be tough and disheartening. But if there was a Lindsay in every store, the world would be a better place. P.S. for Lindsay: Girl, the Vegas festival was CANCELLED. Can you believe it?! lol but don't worry I will still be wearing these pieces all summer! Thank you for everything!

Many of the little trinkets make references to the many things we love about Chicago. It's a great place to buy gifts for friends. The cashier was super sweet and accommodating and offered to wrap up the items I had planned of gifting to friends. They prefer cash and charge a 3% service fee on cards.

It was the story of an amazing woman who followed her dreams and built a fashion boutique, only to see it burn in a fire, just before it's s grand opening. Supremely determined and undeterred Truniekia Franklin rebuilt Funk Shui even better. I brought my very picky 17 year old daughter to see if she would like anything there to match with her high school prom dress. Miss Franklin covered her with affirmations, insights, fashion education, a few compliments, and that pure maternal connection that few are willing or able to share. My daughter fell in love with a necklace and a bracelet, which beautifully accentuates her dress. I fell in love with the good quality and reasonable prices, and the fact that we were spending our dollars in our community. I highly recommend Funk Shui for its service, selection, pricing and sense of style .

Walking into the store, you're immediately met with a relaxing and welcoming vibe. The owners are friendly, genuinely interested in their neighbors, and incredibly natural with their customers. They're honest and not pushy and do a great job of merchandising for a neighborhood that's home to a diverse population. There's something for everyone here, at a range of price points, which matters in a neighborhood like Logan Square. The owners often have friends visiting, so it feels like we're shopping in someone's living room, which I mean in the best way. They also host community events in their beautifully-decorated space, like artist workshops or family story times. I wish every new business could be such a thoughtful fit for the community.
