At most places the free trial actually gives you an idea of what you'll be doing if you join and how challenging it would be, but after this one I actually still had to go to the gym afterwards to get a workout in. They left me alone on the treadmill for 10 minutes of cardio and then gave me one set of reps on a total of 4 super basic exercises to see where I was at physically. It took less than 20 minutes and I spent less than 10 of them with a trainer. I never felt challenged. To top it all off they never gave me any info about my results, or what future workouts would entail, or how they would get me to my goals. If they had given me anything tangible I may have forgiven the lack of initial challenge, but instead they gave me a sheet of expensive packages and asked me what I wanted to sign up for. I'm in pretty good shape already, so I'm not sure if they thought I wasn't worth the time because I don't have hundreds of pounds to lose, or what, I was just shocked that they didn't really seem to care to sell me on why I should join or give me a good initial experience. After leaving I was super bummed because I felt like I could've loved this place. I ended up joining a different company's program instead.

I was studying and looking at a few gyms in the area for a while and kept looking at Black Iron. I set up a meet and greet and the next day after an awesome workout sat down to talk to Mike. After getting a feel for the gym I joined on the spot. The coaching staff are really friendly and this place has a family vibe. I always seem to gravitate towards Veterans as I know what to expect which is an owner who truest cares about his gym family. I travel frequently for work and some owners get phased by that but Mike didn't miss a beat and assured me he was happy to work with me to fit my needs. I love the fact that they are open every day with open and catch up time. Obviously only been here a week so far but I'm extremely happy with Black Iron. In 90 days my body has changed in noticeable ways, and I'm definitely getting stronger. I've never stayed this committed to a workout regimen this long, and that's 100% because of how amazing this gym is. I've never once been intimidated, made to feel inferior, or pressured into doing a movement that might cause an injury. In my experience at The MVMT Lab: Every movement is modifiable. Every workout is achievable wherever you are in your fitness journey. The culture is inclusive, diverse, and wonderfully positive. We had a great chat and made sure to answer all of my questions fully and didn't make me feel rushed at all. My free intro class was coached by Chloe. She was very welcoming and so were the other members. Chloe did (and always does) a great job teaching each movement and proving effective cues all while keeping a fun and upbeat vibe! My husband and I have been members for 2 years now and it's safe to say it was the best decision we could have made. Not only did we find a great, safe, and fun place to workout, we have met some of our best friends which has made Denton feel like home faster than we could have ever expected. Jason and Molly have since moved the gym to a bigger and better location and as a member I feel super spoiled every time I walk in. The equipment is well maintained and there is plenty of space to workout without bumping into fellow athletes. They have adjusted SO well to accommodating new safety standards due to COVID-19. Each athlete is able to workout in a designated area safely spaced from others. They also added several new programs that can be done at home for those who still do not feel safe. Each trainer builds individualized plans for each client and provides basic nutrition advice, though they aren't experts. The ambience is well suited to working out, though without a dedicated changing room (just a spacious individual restroom, you'll arrive clean and leave sweaty. For those wanting to get started and be pushed beyond what they think they're capable of, this is the gym for you. I've been going for six months and am thoroughly enjoying myself and seeing fantastic results. You can't do better than this.
