Chicken wrap
Toiya A.

This place came highly recommended by the owner of the liquor store by my house so I came once and got the falafel wrap which was huge. It came with garlic sauce and some type of spicy sauce and they gave out complementary tea. Make sure you get that because it was delicious. The second time I got the chicken wrap and the chicken with seasoning so well you can tell they put a lot of love in their food. The guy that helped me his name was Ahmed He was such a kind man. He put my food together and make sure that I had all the sauces. I'll definitely be back to try their food and to visit with them. The parking is kind of crazy because it's in a gas station but still pull up!!

The way I inhaled my Yemeni shawarma plate y'all. Heard about Halal King Kitchen from all their great Yelp and Goog reviews, and since our gov is relentlessly bombing and targeting our Yemeni homies and sailors, the least I can do is support our Bay Area Yemeni peeps. Yes the rumors are true, they're a order-at-the-window more so takeout spot vs dine in. They have one small picnic table if you want to eat there. The sweet man at the cashier gave me complimentary sweet black tea. Yemen don't play with their tea and coffees, and although I prefer my teas less sweet. I sipped that honey-infused sucker like it was oxygen. The rice was so flavorful. And the chicken *Chefs kiss* The naan is on the thinner side but so soft and honestly I wish I bought an extra piece so I could scoop every bit of the deliciousness in my takeout box. Comes with a lil salad on the side too. Would HIGHLY recommend you stop by this spot and maybe fill up on some gas since they're on the same lot as the gas station. Super close off the freeway if you're coming up from Oaktown or Berkeley. Sweet guys and even more sweet tea. Thanks Halal King habibis.

Got the chicken wrap! 10/10 and they have great service. The wrap came with two sauces!

I wanted to try this place and I'm glad I did. I ordered the burger and the chicken Mendel plate. The burger was so scrumptious and flavorful, it's a smashed patty with a nice slightly burnt crust for flavor, the bun was soft not soggy at all, burger overall 10/10 and not sloppy. The chicken Mendel plate oh my goodness it's very big generous portion for a reasonable price. The chicken was so tender fall off the bone and the rice is excellent. I ordered off of DoorDash and the food arrived still piping hot. Very happy I gave this place a try. Will be ordering again in the future

Really good halal food in the area! The service is quick and friendly, and they stay open pretty late which is super convenient.

Im a bit picky with food so I rarely eat anywhere twice. This was my 2nd time here. Casual spot for take out. attached to a gas station. Order at a window outside. I don't remember the name of the dish but it was wonderful. Hummus was also delish. Will be back for sure. complimentary tea is a must try. I'm not a tea person but I loved it.

Hot black tea is amazing

Came to Halal King--right next to KKC--just to drop off some clothing recycle in the bin. But I stopped for a falafel wrap, too. While I wait, he gave me a black tea for free and it's hella good. AND THIS falafel is as long as my forearm! If you choose to give a thumbs-up or not, I hope you found my review helpful!

Chicken Shawarma Plate on left and Beef Shawarma Plate on right - both are yummy!

Why does Richmond have the best gas station food?! I found this spot while scrolling on Yelp. The photos looked good, we were craving shawarma, so we called in an order. We were surprised when we arrived that it was at a gas station. We were excited though because we love Krispy Krunchy Chicken on 23rd St, which is also at a Richmond gas station. My boyfriend ordered the Chicken Shawarma Plate and I ordered the Beef Shawarma Plate. Both dishes really hit the spot for us. The Good: - Portions were great for the price. We both finished our plates but were very full after - Rice was so flavorful and tasty - Salad was refreshing - Some of the best hummus I've had - Both sauces are so good, although I have to get double garlic sauce next time. One is simply not enough! The Slightly Less Good: - We both agreed the meat was a little overcooked, but the flavor made up for it. And it wasn't dry, but could be a tiny bit more moist. The beef shawarma mix was so fragrant though, and you could taste all the flavor profiles it was trying to hit. Very great mix. The Bad: - Not that bad, but parking can be a little tough when it's busy. There's only so many parking spots at gas stations. All in all, we really loved it and we'll be back again! I'd be interested in trying some other menu items next time as well! And double garlic sauce!

First of all, they are SO KIND here. Albeit the wait was a tad long, but they were very sweet and gave me a cup of their traditional sweet tea to drink while I waited. There also isn't a falafel plate, but they were nicely accommodated my request! The falafels were SO BIG?! I will admit my partner was a little disappointed in the little amount of meat he got. But but, we both freaking loved the rice. It was really well flavored and the two of us could've probably just ate a bowl of their rice on its own. I would love to come by and try their breakfast too!

Waiting around for my friend in front of Halal King kitchen one of the gentlemen inside offered me a hot cup of their amazing sweet tea. What a nice gesture. It was like he was welcoming me into his home. Halal King has been on my radar for some time. How can you not like the idea of Yemen influenced chicken shawarma place next to a gas station! My Chicken Shawarma came with a huge portion of rice, a colorfully salad with red onions, home made hummus and a huge flatbread. Ohh and the yogurt with garlic sauce on the side was super good. My friend ordered Chicken Mendi which was cooked perfectly. Matt says while you are making that trip to the Richmond Costco drop by this little gem and make friends with Halal King Kitchen. You will be glad you did.

Honestly, the folks working at the restaurant are super nice and respectful, you can tell they really put their heart into what they do. The food is seriously delicious and stands out from other places, especially the mandi - everyone at home loves it, from the kids to the adults. Even when we have guests over, they always ask where the food's from 'cause it leaves such a special taste Thank you

I found out about this hole in the wall restaurant on IG. They are located inside Kwik Serv, a gas station, in Richmond (right off the freeway). Apparently the owner and his uncle immigrated from Yemen to Oakland eight years ago to Oakland and they serve the best Yemeni food in the Bay. I decided to give it a try since I've never had Yemeni food and was in the area. We were the only ones there when we arrived around 12:30pm on a Saturday. The owner explained to us the different items on their menu, so we decided to get Chicken Mendi and a side of fries. The chicken was very juicy and tender. The rice and salad was packed with flavor. The fries reminded me of McDonald's fries and it could have been crispier. Indoor seating is not available, but they do have a bench and table in front of the establishment. The gas station is quite popular since it's right off the freeway.

Great market selection, which we perused while waiting for our food. We got home before looking at the food, and that was our second mistake. We have eaten gyros and shawarma and kebabs and falafel in different countries. This was just... abysmal. The gyro slivers were paper thin and had obviously been cooked/fried multiple times before. The falafel also had a super hard exterior and a dry interior, so it wasn't fresh either. We were told the plates include fries and a salad. The fries turned out to be dry rice, and the amount of "salad" fits on a tablespoon. Beyond disappointing. Great market, but I had better and more flavorful cooked food during my stay at Kaiser hospital.

Heard about this place and finally came here on the afternoon of Sat 3/21…read more It's located on the main street so you have to park nearby and walk to King of Kabab. There's a corner liquor store next door so if you want to try your luck and buy a scratcher while dining or picking up food to go, here's a perfect location to kill two birds with one stone. First time visiting this joint and I was impressed! The protein (chicken) was not overcooked and had the right amount of flavor. They wrap their delicious chicken shawarma's tighter than a burrito! Next to the cashier on the left is a little window of Turkish delight (sweets). I ordered the red-velvet + orange + lemon flavored treats. Looked appealing, but after I took a bit of the red velvet, everything stuck to my teeth and had to do extra work with the dental scalpel. It's like layers of hardened fruit roll up with molasses of the flavor. The cahier did warn me that this was sweet with a small side eye that I shoulda caught right away bc I did go in for quite the surprise. Ambience and customer service was on point. They offered for us to sit in the outdoor dining, but we ended up taking our order to go. Stop by this joint when you're in town, you won't be disappointed!

We tried their stuff falafel plate that comes with rice, hummus, salad and one pita. We never had a stuffed falafel before so this was pretty good. Lots of flavor from the onions inside and super crunchy. Reminded me of fried chicken. The rice was very fluffy but a little bland. The hummus was good and not too salty. What I like about this place is that none of the food is too salty which tends to be the case in a lot of places with Mediterranean food like Troy and Zaytoon where I frequent. It is very unusual that the food is low sodium. The salad was the worst part because it was limp and tasted cheap. I really enjoyed their pita here because it was chewy and crunchy at the same time. Maybe the pita was whole wheat because it was darker than most. We did toast it before we ate it. You can add a dollar and get extra rice or hummus and we added both extra rice and hummus. The portion size is relatively generous although you only get three falafels. I added some olives to make the rice less bland. That's the nice thing about taking food home to eat because you can doctor it. Overall, we enjoyed the food. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back but will definitely visit when in the area. This is a busy area and can be difficult to find parking.

We were having dinner with a friend that eats Halal food and Bismillah popped up on Yelpas a good option. Being the uncultured person I am, the only reference to Bismillah that I knew of was from Bohemian Rapsody, so I had Queen running around in my head for the week leading up to this dinner. We walk in on a Friday night, the lights are off, there are no customers, and an older gentleman greets us at the register. It's not the most welcoming environment, but we are hungry, so we order our food and grab a window side table lit by the setting sun. Two modifications to our order - they ran out of mango lassi , and when I asked for Raita, the gentleman recommended the chutney instead. Also, no tap water, but you can buy bottled water. Turns out the guy behind the counter is the chef and waiter as well. We ordered Chicken Tandoori (leg), Lamb Biryani, Palak Paneer, Chicken Karahi, and Chicken Tikka Masala for our entrees. My favorites: Chicken Tandoori - nice char, flavorful and tender Chicken Karahi - kind of like a hearty chicken stew Onion kulcha and Roghni (sesame) naan - the garlic naan was actually a bit disappointing (on the dry side). So when we ordered more naan, we tried the other varieties and liked them better. Pricing was very reasonable.
