we love these sushi boxes! they're so great for a date night to take to the park or beach. the mango roll is my favorite

More imitation crab

Shared space within Ichiban Sando. SKIP this and just get katsu or egg sandwiches if you are already here. But if you crave this type of sushi, we recommend Sushi Diner in Mission Valley. Pros: 1. Presentation: Box C has three rolls, two of which are "special," nicely organized in a pizza box. You are paying for aesthetic here :( 2. Clean tables for dine-in. Albeit there's only a handful in the small space. Cons: 1. Taste: Despite getting three distinct rolls, Doritos Crunchy, Hako Special, Salmon Mango, they all tasted the same, mainly because it's all imitation crab (pictures provided). Prepared fresh, but didn't taste fresh. 2. Ordering: There is a QR that you scan to place an order online. The site increased the tip amount on us. It took our number for confirmation but did not message us when ready for pick up. We ordered diet soda, but only cans with regular sugar available, and were not informed at the time of ordering.

Fantastic 4 Box- Brulee Tempura, Ring of Fire Roll, Salmon Lava Roll, and Dragon Roll

Like many people out there, I had seen the instagram reels and decided to try this place. I had placed an order for pick up at a certain time and when I got there I still had to wait ~15 minutes. Service was okay, nothing special. When I finally got to trying the sushi, I realized, similar to others' reviews, that a couple of the rolls tasted the same with very minimal distinctions. The one that stood out the most was the Brûlée Roll because it was so distinguishable. The sushi itself didn't taste very fresh either, which is I expect from good sushi. Presentation definitely gets a big W on this, but the flavor was just not there. Cool concept, not the best delivery.

Last night my husband surprised me with one of their sushi boxes for dinner, and it was incredible. I wasn't expecting the tuna and salmon to be that fresh and delicious. 've never had fish that good before, and now I'm officially converted! We will definitely be ordering again. Very pleased with the whole experience.

I brought the sushi box for a group picnic and it was a popular item amongst my friends. The presentation was so beautiful and I couldn't wait to devour it. My friends and I aren't very picky with food and we all enjoyed it and thought it was yummy. Would definitely recommend sushi box for a picnic date!! Service was good, thank you to the workers for the nicely crafted sushi!

Beautiful presentation! There's a take out menu for various "boxes" that you can you purchase like one to four classic or special rolls, and some include option to order sashimi or nigiri. Nigiri costs more extra than sashimi. The salmon sashimi was deeeeelicious, very high quality. I would say rolls don't taste outstanding, but portions are big and will make sharing between two to three people very easy! The chicken sando was delicious! Very cute take out spot. Minimal seating inside, decent sized parking lot.

Ordered take out sushi from this place over the weekend and it was great! It's inside of Ichiban Sando (which is tiny) and there's a small parking lot in the back which was nice. Ordering and pick up were super easy and the staff was very friendly. Taking one star off because I'm a little picky about sushi and their rolls felt like they had a little too much rice. But overall the quality and presentation were good and for the price point I would def recommend you try it!

Sugoi Box Medium

I have to start by saying Hako Sushi Box is now one of my favorite sushi restaurants in the South bay. Located in a tiny space that is shared with Ichiban Sando. It boasts a menu that has a good selection of unique rolls. I ordered the Sugoi Box. Included in this box, you get 4 special rolls, 10 pieces of fish and a small side. All of that for $70. That's a pretty good deal. The sushi is served in a pizza box. Yes a pizza box. It threw me off at first, but it's ingenious. The presentation when you open the box is amazing. Adorned with flowers and banana leaves. It's both beautiful and functional. The sushi of course is fresh and delicious. I really like their special rolls. Very creative with good combinations of ingredients. The Happy Roll, Hako Special Roll, Salmon Lava Roll and Salmon Lemon Roll are all must try rolls. Overall, a great little sushi spot. Service was on point, nothing but smiles. Definitely coming back.

Definitely, this sushi box will become our family's birthday tradition! The quality was excellent, and the portion was so generous that three people couldn't finish it.

Medium tray (cooked sushi)

My dream finally happened and I got to try the pizza sushi boxes! These have been on my radar for almost a year now and I was saving it for the perfect group occasion. I ordered the medium tray online through their website portal and was able to request for the sushi to be placed in pizza boxes (the bigger family sizes came in trays originally). All the sushi was delicious, though I think I ought to order on a cooler day so the sushi stays cold from pick up. I will say the rolls were not much of a variety, though it may look, as I had hoped since most of them had a California roll filling but different topping. I would have liked to have more raw sushi fillings myself. There was also a bit too much rice and we all got full pretty fast from it. I think next time I'll order a small size and try that since this amount ended up being way too much for our group of 8. Overall, love the concept and presentation.

Great sushi takeout place in Chula Vista and very reasonably priced! We thoroughly enjoyed the rolls and the rice to filling proportions were very generous. The sashimi was also very good. So happy to have stumbled upon this place and we will definitely be frequenting!

The presentation is so beautiful. The boxes look really nice when you open them! Everything looks so pretty. The downside is the rolls don't taste great and aren't special. They use very dense and thick rice, lots of imitation crab, and very thin slices of fish on top and inside the rolls. The thick rice definitely ruins the rolls. It was a fun idea but we won't be ordering again.

They have a sushi counter with no counter seating. I ordered the OMG roll and the person helping me at the front said the roll would take about 10 to 15 minutes, so I decided to sit down and order two (2) orders of nigiri while I waited because I was starving. Well, the roll came out in like three (3) minutes (it was just ok) and I hadn't even received the nigiri yet. Then the nigiri arrived, but it wasn't nigiri; it was sashimi. I ordered the fatty salmon and fatty yellowtail. I wish I hadn't. The fish did not taste fresh. Won't be coming here again.

Their sushi and fish are pretty good quality & one of our favorite things is that happy hour is buy 1 get 1 beer & sake all day lol When we came back to try AYCE seafood we had a few questions about the menu and our server was super patient with all our questions and requests. I genuinely think it's worth the price just because the amount of appetizers that come along with it. There was more than enough food to go around and we didn't even get to 3 rounds of seafood before we got full haha It's a clean restaurant, good service, and in a large plaza. The plaza it's located in can get really busy though because of the TJ Max & Marshals so I would plan accordingly on the weekends. The only reason I put 4 stars instead of 5 is because although the flavoring in the seafood is delicious.. I think they add way too much butter in the mix that it literally drowns out the seasoning. So what we started doing is digging to the bottom of the bag with a spoon, scooping out some of the seasoning from there and adding it to a sauce cup with some salt & pepper. Then we add the butter from there. The flavor is there, it is.. you just have to dig for it lol other than that our experience was great. We'll be coming back often.

Hmm... I'm honestly a little conflicted about this place…read more I called ahead and ordered the pork belly ramen with extra pork belly, but when I got there I still ended up waiting about 20 minutes. After getting a little impatient, I asked if my order was ready and suddenly it was brought out right away, which felt a bit off. To be fair, they did seem pretty busy, but I had placed my order 25 minutes in advance and only ordered one item, so I was expecting a smoother pickup. Though I didn't eat there, the inside was nice with tons of seating. As for the food, I wasn't blown away. The ramen had potential, but it fell a little flat for me. There wasn't much broth, the flavor was pretty mild, and the pork belly actually tasted more like chicken. It was also grilled, which wasn't really my preference for ramen. Overall, not a terrible experience, but not one that stood out either. I might come back to give their sushi a try and see if that changes my mind.
