I had to stop at this Jerk Shack in Jesup. It was such an odd place for this restaurant, but I was…read moreinterested and hungry. I stopped at another restaurant for food, but they didn't have what I wanted, so I decided to give Jerk Shack 2 ago. The outside of the building makes you want to see what they have to offer, so I decided to try them. The service was very fast and nice. I even used the bathroom which was super clean. I decided to order a few things. I asked for a jerk chicken patty, a small curry chicken plate with a side of plantains. I actually got way more food than I could imagine. They did give my a curry chicken Patty instead of the jerk, but I didn't mind because the patty was very good in a perfect pastry. The cur ry chicken was pretty good, but I kind of wish I would have gotten the goat or maybe the oxtail. I usually stay away from red meat, but I think I'll try the oxtails next time I come back.

Ok. So we just went to this establishment for the first and maybe the last time. Not because they…read morewere bad, but because we are only in this small town 4.5 hours from our home for a funeral. I wanted to do a review, but I had to add them in yelp first. They appear to have another location in Brunswick, GA which is about 40 mins or so from here. So let's begin.. Location: Being such a small community, there is no problem finding them. They are right in the heart of town. (I posted the pics). They are only a few minutes from every other part of Jesup. Atmosphere: Because I am from NY, I am very familiar with West Indian restaurants (nonething to do with my father being Jamaican or husband Haitian..lol). So 1 thing I loved about this place is that they not only had food, but they we also a little market..but not really. They have ACKEE! I would never expect to see cans of ACKEE for sale in Jesup GA. So they have alot of the little nuggets like that. COVID: So on their door, it does says masks are required. When you do inside, no masks are worn by the staff. Idk if social distancing is a thing as no one was in there, and we ordered to go. No gloves wear worn, and I didn't noticed sanitizer..but doesn't none was there (sanitizer). Price: I thought the pricing was pretty good. I got a full plate of food for 9 bucks. I also noticed on the window, they have lunch specials including drinks for $4.95. You can't beat that price. Patties 2 bucks...are pretty good. Food: Ok. So the reason I picked this place is because the had Garlic Pan Fried Tofu. I have never seen that before, and based on the description looked good to me. So there are some pics of the food. I will say this...the flavor is there..but the texture...idk. I was hoping from a pan fry that there would be a little crisp on the tofu. Instead it seemed as though it was all cooked in a stew or something. And the rice flavor was there but too soft. In the 2nd pic, I choose not to eat anymore. If I were a meat eater, I would recommend them for a try on a busier day when maybe more consistent cooking is happening. This is a challenge for smaller communities. Food can sit all day until it's sold. Service: The women there were very nice. They shared about the different ppl in the area and how diverse it was. We chatted a bit and they were very friendly. Overall, if I did come back to Jesup, I would probably try the other carribean resturant just because. If that location was closed, I would come again and maybe try something different and hope for the best. They are ok and worth a try to support a location business in Jesup.

Top tier restaurant for Jamaican food. Truly authentic. Some of the specialty items are cooked to…read moreorder such as the stew shrimp, but if you're like me I don't mind waiting for fresh food. Island Breeze can be difficult to find if you're not familiar with the area. Located on Montgomery Street next door to BoBo's seafood and across the street from an auto body shop. The customer service is good but as a native New Yorker I expect a little attitude from all Carribean restaurants, that's how I know the food is going to be amazing. Haha. I don't get attitude from anyone here but I've called in orders before and the person has definitely been short with me. Again, not a negative because the food is bomb. The inside is small so not made for a crowd. I tend to order my food and then wait in my car or order ahead so the food is ready when I arrive. It gets very busy in there especially at lunch time and if you're like me and always want a patty, make sure to double check because they sell out quickly.

I decided to go with the brown stew fish with rice and peas and mac and cheese as my side. My friend ordered the turkey wings with white rice and sweet green peas. The lady taking our order did let us know that it would be a while for our order to be completed since the fish is cooked to order. There was a small seating area adjacent to the ordering area, so we sat there while waiting for our food to be done. It took a little longer than expected, but the food was definitely worth the wait. The fish was very flavorful and was packed with onions and peppers. The rice and peas paired well with the fish and sauce. The mac and cheese was just okay. My friend thought the turkey wings had a great flavor, but were slightly overcooked. I would come back again the next time I'm in town, but would definitely order ahead to cut down on the wait time.

This was my third time coming here, and overall it was decent, but not quite what I've come to…read moreexpect. When I come back to a spot I love, I want the same dish prepared the same way every time -- that's literally why I keep coming back for it. It was pretty crowded, so I get that things get hectic, but that's not really an excuse for some of what happened service-wise. We ordered the corn fritters and oysters to start, and both came out cold. I'm not the type to send food back or make a scene about it, so I just ate it and moved on. For entrees, I got the Escovitch fish and my lady got the oxtails. The oxtails were way too fatty with barely any actual meat on them. My Escovitch -- flavor was there, it's always been good, that's not the issue. The issue was the portion of the sautéed onions and carrots that come with it. Last time I got this dish, that came with a solid, generous serving of those veggies to eat alongside the fish. This time I got what looked like the very last scoop from the pan -- barely enough to go with a couple bites of fish, let alone the whole plate. If that was intentional, like it's just supposed to be a garnish amount, fine, I'd understand that. But that's not what I got last time, so it felt more like I just got the bottom of the pot instead of an actual full serving. The BBQ mac and cheese also threw me off a bit -- noodles seemed unusually thick. But the GM actually came by to check on us, and when I mentioned it he explained it's gluten-free, which made total sense. Still tasted good, just personally not a fan of how big the noodles are. Drinks were subpar too, which surprised me because they're usually on point. Might've been a newer bartender, not sure. I didn't ask for anything off the bill or comped -- I ordered it, I paid for it, even with the hiccups. I just really hope whoever's in the kitchen tightens up on consistency, because the flavor foundation here is genuinely good. This isn't a bad-place review -- it's a "y'all had an off night" review. I'll be back.

I had the Crispy Shrooms. Really good. Jollof rice is definitely a different and unexpected texture and flavor, very good. For the main dish was the Lobster Cashew curry. Absolutely beautifully presented and delicious. I should've follow my server advice about the rice. jollof rice must pair really good with meat. Not that much with seafood. I think the prices are very reasonable even for the wine. Service is impecable. Music Level perfect. Definitely coming back to try all the menu.
