I even showed pictures and explained clearly what I wanted. See the photos for the result. It's awful--I've even been laughed at by people. The worst part is that I asked for my money back at the salon, and they told me to handle it via email. After that, they never responded. Really unprofessional. Especially since I have to walk around like this every day. Mistakes can happen, but you need to own up to them.

Today I walked in the shop asking for them to cut 4 inches from my hair and long layers. In addition i wanted the ombré which is something I get each time I go there. Dark to blonde ends. I walked out today with almost 8 inches cut and rust color hair and in tears with almost zero confidence. The problem isn't just that I was clearly unhappy and on the verge of tears, I was told I could buy the silver shampoo they have that will make my ends lighter. No offer to fix or anything which is a shame because the girl was really nice but I had someone else do the cut and I am just as unhappy with that. I will give 3 stars because I used to be happy with the place but I will find someone new next time.

I've always preferred Japanese/Korean hair salons because I like that style and also because the hairdressers have more experience working with fine and straight Asian hair. In my first week in the Netherlands I needed a haircut (because sadly I didn't have time to get one before I left). Fuji hair was recommended by several friends and also a waiter in a Japanese restaurant. It is a bit out of the way if you live in Amsterdam but it is easily reachable by public transport. The salon is located in a shopping center and if you go before 5pm, you can make a shopping day out of it. There are other Asian stores there so this is a great chance to stock up on snacks, food, beauty products, etc. They are appointment only and I recommend that you call at least 1 week beforehand. Luckily they are also open on Sunday. When you arrive, you are seated and given some tea while you wait for your hairdresser. The facility is very clean and neat. My hairdresser was friendly, easy to talk to and spoke English (hooray!). I always bring photos to explain what I want and he delivered the results exactly. The pricing is a bit expensive compared to the rest of the Netherlands but it is actually cheaper than what I usually pay in New York so I think it is a great deal. The quality is reflected in the price and I would rather pay more to get what I want. If you have Asian hair and want a more modern style, Fuji hair is the place to go! This is also a great place for men who want something more daring and unconventional.

Finally. Finally. Finally. It has only taken me two years,…read morebut I have done it. I have found my hairdresser in Amsterdam. After trying Kinky Kappers (attitude problem) once, going to Toni & Guy for about a year (good, but just not 'it'), I decided to give Mirror and Mirror as go. My sis in law recommended it, it is down the block from where I live, and about €20 cheaper than Toni and Guy. What could go wrong? Nothing. I made an appointment with Kirsten. Showed up, and left with one of the best hair cuts I have had in over two years. My take on hair is that when you get your hair done you shouldn't just like it, you should love it. A new haircut should emphasize your natural beauty, personality, and make you think, 'yes, this is me. and I am awesome.' Essentially, I haven't had that feeling in a while, but Kirsten did such an amazing job I left feeling like a million bucks. Plus, the shop itself is just cool, low key, nicely decorated. Like you feel you are at a friends apartment, not a hoity-toity place that is stiff. The music selection was also top notch, it's just a nice vibe being there. Kirsten and I exchanged notes on yoga studios in AMS. Alex, the other half of mirror mirror seems also equally cool. He was cutting a woman's hair and when she left I loved her hair, it looked great on her and she looked super hip. These are hair dresses that are very talented, listen to what you want and are looking for, have years of experience and believe in giving great haircuts without breaking the bank. I don't think I'll be going anywhere else to get my hair done in AMS, and that is really a relief!

Located on a quiet, picturesque canal street just a stone's throw from the bustling Nieuwmarkt, this newer salon is a beautiful addition to the neighborhood. The space itself is stunning--flooded with natural light and incredibly "gezellig" (that unique Dutch word for cozy, welcoming, and soulful). It's the kind of environment where you'll want to linger with your coffee long after your haircut is done. My Experience: I have been a loyal client of Naomi's for nearly six years. She is a fantastic stylist, and her entire team is professional, warm, and highly skilled.
