Finally. Finally. Finally.
It has only taken me two years, but I have done it.
I have found my hairdresser in Amsterdam. After trying Kinky Kappers (attitude problem) once, going to Toni & Guy for about a year (good, but just not 'it'), I decided to give Mirror and Mirror as go. My sis in law recommended it, it is down the block from where I live, and about €20 cheaper than Toni and Guy. What could go wrong?
Nothing. I made an appointment with Kirsten. Showed up, and left with one of the best hair cuts I have had in over two years.
My take on hair is that when you get your hair done you shouldn't just like it, you should love it. A new haircut should emphasize your natural beauty, personality, and make you think, 'yes, this is me. and I am awesome.' Essentially, I haven't had that feeling in a while, but Kirsten did such an amazing job I left feeling like a million bucks.
Plus, the shop itself is just cool, low key, nicely decorated. Like you feel you are at a friends apartment, not a hoity-toity place that is stiff. The music selection was also top notch, it's just a nice vibe being there. Kirsten and I exchanged notes on yoga studios in AMS. Alex, the other half of mirror mirror seems also equally cool. He was cutting a woman's hair and when she left I loved her hair, it looked great on her and she looked super hip.
These are hair dresses that are very talented, listen to what you want and are looking for, have years of experience and believe in giving great haircuts without breaking the bank.
I don't think I'll be going anywhere else to get my hair done in AMS, and that is really a relief! read more
