Fun space, greeted with tea of my choice, and just had a fantastic experience. Agata talked to me about what I wanted, then tweaked my usual cut so that it's more stylish, attractive and easy to care for. She was easy and professional, as well as friendly. Thanks to the previous (white guy) reviewer, he was willing to give them a try, and was glad he did. You don't need an appointment to get a haircut, you can just walk in any time. The price is great, 12 euros for a men's cut, which is cheaper than the local hairdressing school which charges 16 euros for a haircut done by a student. They're quick here, just snip-snip, a cup of tea, and you're done. And best of all the owner is super welcoming and nice. My husband didn't feel shunned at all. The downsides are that the decor is a bit run-down, but also a bit quirky. There are lots of religious posters on the walls interspersed with 'sexy hairdresser' posters consisting of fully-clothed pretty women making kissy faces at the camera. It's at least a bit of a unique cultural experience in that respect. If all you want is a fast haircut without having to plan ahead and make appointments, then this is a great place to go. If you need hipster points for drinking scotch while getting your haircut by a man with a handlebar mustache, you're better off going to a fancy expensive place in the center of town.

The hairdresser (Ed) chopped her hair up to below her shoulders after agreeing with her that he wouldn't. This place is very gezellig -- part record store, part hair salon. The staff here are fully English-speaking and if you're lucky, both of you will be singing along to the wicked tunes playing in the background. They're also young but that's not to say they're not experienced. They're actually very professional and will do what you ask if you're very particular about your hair. If you are feeling lucky and ask for their opinion, they will style your hair in a way that suits your face and head. I'd say their styles are also a bit edgy and hip (you're in a record store/hair salon after all!). Overall I've been satisfied with my cut every time I've been here. This is due to the kindness of their hair dressers, who have good skills and are willing to take risks and make your hair more fun if you'll let them. My hair is shorter and fluffier, curlier and more fun than it ever has been, thanks to these gals. The jewelry displayed is ok too. I found Andy through Yelp and sent him a message to make an appointment. He replied back right away and he was able to squeeze me in for a Friday evening. My friend and I arrived around 6:15pm and I could tell I was his last appointment of the day. Andy was sweet and he give an awesome hair wash and massage! Since I was cutting off a lot of hair Andy made sure I was ok with cutting off so much, he showed me several time. He was super fun and funny and we shared stories from where we are from and about Amsterdam. Andy gave me a great haircut, couldn't have asked for a better experience. I wish he was in my hometown, I'd go to him again!
