I been going for sometime now. The owner her daughter are very nasty people, very unprofessional and very racist. I had very bad experiences with them. Even when you told them what you want done the get offended and rudely tells you what they think you need. It's like take it or leave it. The are also over price... I'm sorry but I'm not happy with my hair color, how my highlights came out, the haircut she gave me nor the $200.00 price she charged me! I don't like it at all and I wish I had asked for ombré instead. She (Monica) knows better when it comes to that I guess cause she did one of my friends hair and it came out fantastic! As far as highlight well let's just say she left the bleach in for to long and my hair is so damaged, dry and just broken. I feel like crying. It's so hard to find someone who really is skilled in this profession. I don't know how to even start treating and recuperating my hair back. I think if she new she messed up she shouldn't have charged me $200.00! Yes the salon is very nice in its decor and cleanliness gets an A+++. They were nice and polite, but what good is that when the skills are lacking. This is why I don't like trying out new people. Depressing.... There is a sister salon called Brush a few blocks away on 98 street. Also they offer $20.00 wash and set on Sundays and Tuesdays. Hello all! I recently moved to this area and found this place closer to my house. So I decided to go as the person MONICA was so pleasant on the phone and decided to give it a try. I went in there and asked for Monica and she said I"m Monica in a nasty tone. So I asked her how much would it cost to do an updo...she said $70. After that she said nothing and I went to sit down. I waited for someone to take me to either wash my hair or tell me something. Monica then tells me the other girl will do my updo. I sat and waited and waited and waited. Monica then came over to me and said 'do u wants to wash ur hair as well"? I looked at her and said well of course if your doing an updo. She said that's an extra $20 to wash and blow. I never in my Life paid so much for updo. After she told me that I picked my stuff up and walked out. I decided to go to my lady whom I was going for 15 years....JOCY HAIR SALON ON LEFFERTS ON SUTTER AVE. Jocy charged me $60 with EVERYTHING!!!! I AM ALWAYS HAPPY WHEN I WALK OUT OF JOCY SALON! This place was simply NOT worth the money, unfortunately I wasted my money twice hoping the first time was a fluke I initially went there and asked the owner how much for highlights she said 125.00 I went back a month later and, apparently they opened another salon further away and she went over there I said I wanted highlights and Monica stated that it would be 150.00, at that point it didn't bother me because I thought she knew how to do it, we agreed on a date and time which was two days later I walked in the day we agreed to get it and was informed that she has the day off and she is "the only person who knows how to do highlights" in the salon or I can go to their other salon further away....um disorganized much? I went back the next day and of course she could care less she got to doing my hair she put the foil in and I didn't see her again she left the rest up to another girl who was obviously training, when my hair was being washed out the girl called her over and stated that some of my hair looked red she said "that's fine leave it".... I trusted it looked fine my hair was blow dried I got up to look in the mirror and I was already being stared at to pay so I paid left a very generous tip and left later on looking at my hair in daylight it was UNEVEN WEIRD HIGHLIGHT WITH DIFFERENT SHADES OF BLONDE AND SOME REDDISH TONES. I'M TALKING WHITE BLOND/HONEY BLONDE/ MEDIUM BLONDE/ RED ETC..It not what I wanted and she didn't even care how she did it! we talked about regular BLONDE highlights I eventually fixed it with boxed color... smh I then got it to a decent color and then needed a touchup later on. I thought hey, maybe since its already a set color and she did the initial highlights she can just match the color..... WRONG I don't understand how she managed to screw it up, but she did. She left patches of my hair black which is why I went back to her so that wouldn't happen....that was another 70 dollars wasted. Then she tried to style it in a way where it wouldnt show much with a weird flip blow dry... The atmosphere is unprofessional, it's just young girls hanging out watching TV she obviously could care less if her/their work is sloppy, maybe it's because I'm not a regular customer but I advise people thinking to go here for the first time to do some more research on a hair stylist who appreciates and cares about how their customers look! I've been going to this salon for sometime now, specifically on Tuesdays and Sundays when they offer a $20 wash and blow special. I had not been there during the summer so was surprised when I went a few weeks ago on a Tuesday and was charged $30 for the wash and blow special. I mentioned to them that their "special" sign was still posted on their storefront as well as inside the salon. Nevertheless, they still charged me $30. Needless to say, I will not be visiting this salon ever again. I don't understand why I was charged $30. I hope they are not discriminating towards customers with "black hair". I wish I were able to attached a picture of their storefront, because its been 3 weeks now and the $20 Tuesday/Sunday special is still posted on their storefront. If I could rate this place a BIG FAT ZERO, I would. Lets start off with their unethical way of advertising a price and then after your hair is done, they charge you a totally different price and have some ridiculous excuse at why you are being charged more than first quoted. One of be employees, I believe her name is Marisol, is very nice and polite, but the very short older lady who is he owner tends to be on the not too friendly and biased side. I have straight hair and I would notice that when a girl would walk in with curly or coarse textured hair, she would not style their hair and she would skip them and have the other workers style their hair. She would walk to the back and would not come out until someone else started working a non straight haired customers hair. She would only style customers with " good" and straight hair like me. That was a complete turn off for me and I will never go to this unprofessional hair salon again. Especially seeing that the older Spanish lady with broken English could act so biased to other Spanish customers like her who had curly hair. She needs some etiquette class on providing great customer service. That could be the reason why it is not as busy as other places I've been to. read more

I don't know what they all are talking about.I recently moved to this area.I have tried this salon several times and I love it.The wash set and blow is fabulous and all the ladies are very nice!Not to mention the price is great.I was referred to them by a local nail salon and IM very glad I came!I am mixed and my hair its very long and thick so its hard to fund a stylist that not only can handle it but knows exactly what to do with it! Unbelievably disgusting is the only way to describe the owner of this salon. She has NO respect for her customers. Her stylists are good but she has abolsutely no professionalism. I am not sure why she thinks it's okay to speak to an adult as I guess the way she would treat her child...In a loud, embarrassing tone not to mention the insulting things she said in the process. (I feel bad for her daughters). I did not say one word to her at that moment. After waiting 2 hours to do my hair when I had some place to go, I went with my normal stylist (not her). When I went to pay, I proceeded to speak to her in a low quiet tone and explained to her that she, as a fellow business woman should have addressed her issues with me more professionally. She then made threats to me, and lied about the situation when even her own stylist was rolling her eyes as she was doing it. A few days ago, I went to this location looking for a Dominican salon. However, what they are promoting is not what they give you. My hair is naturally curly, and the women practically ignored me to see if I left. Also, because of this, they overcharged me $10 extra. Emma, the manager, kept on insisting that I relax my hair - very unprofessional. I also went to another salon originally on 98th Street and 101st Avenue, which turned out to have the same owner. I started going to this salon years ago and after being a devoted customer for a couple years, I noticed my hair losing it's original texture so I stopped going as often possibly only 3-4 times in past 2 years. The woman who usually do my hair is great (the one who smiles and hardly speaks while doing hair, brown skin.) My hair is back to it's original state and $20 on Tuesdays and Sundays is a great deal so I decided I can start going more often. So I go in on a Tuesday and ask for a wash, blow-out and end clipping. When My hair is done the owner says the price is $50. I said so end clipping is $30. She immediately got an attitude and said it was a cut, I said I asked for a clip and still $30 is a bit much. I then learned it is considered the same thing in that salon (I'm sure only to some customers) I told her the most I have ever paid anywhere for end clipping was $10 this salon included and I'm sure it was $5 at one point. She laughed at that and started telling her daughter never. She also said people take advantage of the $20 deal. I said if you advertise that than you should expect thats what people come for. It's way too many salons around to have that kind of attitude especially to someone who you know is a repeat customer. For $50 I could have went to a salon in the city for same thing on a special. I know she doesn't charge everyone that price. I honestly was shocked at her attitude towards the whole thing, someone walked in salon so I didnt want to continue the back and forth in front of another customer (I know, that was so nice of me.)
