Hairspray Salon - Straight perm & trim - Hair Salons Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

Stuart gave me a GREAT haircut! He is top notch. I consider myself very fortunate to have found a good stylist by searching yelp. I needed my hair cut, and my usual stylist at a walk-in place quit. Since I was "chancing it" with a new stylist, I called around looking for places that could take me asap. Stuart was the only one who returned my call, and he was able to fit me in that same day. My hair is short, fine, and very straight. So straight that even a textured cut looks flat and straight without lots of product. I've been told by numerous stylists over the years that it's slippery and hard to cut. I told Stuart what I wanted, and he did it perfectly. His 30 years of experience definitely shows in the quality of the cut. I need lots of texture, and for the first time ever, I could actually see the texture coming through even before adding any texturizing product. Another benefit of this salon is that they are not selling a product line. Stuart recommended a powder type texturizer that worked way better than what I normally use. He had a little jar of it, but he doesn't sell it. He showed me how to apply it, gave me the rest of the jar, and told me about a beauty supply store that sells to the public where I could buy more when I run out. I'll definitely be going to Stuart at Hairspray Salon from now on. I HIGHLY recommend him. The price was reasonable too, and there is plenty of parking in the area. read more

I have a lot of heavy, thick hair and most stylists are afraid of it. This was my first time at Hairspray and I am very happy to say that my haircut is awesome! Thank you, Stuart for taking the time to study my unruly hair. I love my haircut, it's short and easy to care for. What a lovely gem of a hair salon and so happy to find it in my neighborhood. Hairspray Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

Stuart at Hairspray! Salon has been my hairstylist for over 20 years. He and Jennifer treat their clients with utmost care and always striving to do their best. Stu is a blast to talk to while he's doing your hair and honest if he doesn't think your face shape or perhaps the texture or curl of your hair matches some trendy style you'd like to jump on the bandwagon for...he's saved me from that a few times over the years, but he'll try to do something cool that fits you. I have not been disappointed. I hope they are around for another 20 years! read more

This is a really cute salon in the heart of Kaimuki! Located in the same parking lot as rainbow nails it was easy to find and parking is 75 cents an hour! I had Melissa for a haircut/ gloss / blow dry and she was fantastic! She did a great job cutting my hair and I really like her work! Her prices are reasonable and I'll definitely go back! Thank you Melissa!! read more

Bought a groupon for Melissa Krupinski's services and I was blown away. Not only was she professional, she was fast, and absolutely amazing. I have textured, curly hair and I was really surprised she dry cut it (like curly hair should be treated and seen cut) and revived it completely. I am always scared to get my hair cut because some hairdressers cut my hair like it's naturally straight. Melissa is very knowledgeable. We then went to wash my hair out and did a deep condition along with a gloss treatment. She straightened it out, which was a treat because I don't straighten it. Stop in and book an appointment with Melissa, you won't be disappointed. I loved it and I will be back if I ever need my hair cut again. Thank you Melissa! read more

I have been going to Hairspray Salon for over 5 years now. They are my hair angels in the corner of Kaimuki. My hair loves Stu. And I'm pretty sure it's because the feeling is mutual. Stu cares for his client's hair with a passion. He is a professional that knows exactly what the hell he is doing. He is a master at color and health. When I am blah, he makes me bright with perfect highlights. When I need grounding he brings me back to beautiful browns. I've been so busy and all business and he knew I needed some pizazz, so on Monday I got this amazing burgundy treatment. It's a welcome breath of fresh air and my hair feels so amazing from this product. It's so shiny and smooth right now, I wear it down every day! Thank you so much for loving on my hair when I neglect it! Love you and Jen so much. If you're looking for your hair home, look no further than Leslie's smiling face outside of Hairspray Salon off Koko Head in Kaimuki :) read more

I scheduled an appointment with Melissa after a friend recommended her to me. She was great! I went in to add some summer color and I got exactly what I wanted - some fun summer hair at a really reasonable price. She was super personable and fun to talk to. I'll definitely be seeing her again. read more

Went to Melissa for a haircut & am so happy I did. She took the time to talk to me about what I wanted, listened to my concerns & made a few suggestions. The end result was perfect!!! But better still ... the next time I came for a cut, Melissa took my shoulder length bob & made it more modern/fun. So cute! I'm someone who totally goes with the same hairstyle month after month so appreciate Melissa changing things up in a way that flatters me. Definitely recommend Melissa if you are looking to change up your hairstyle. You'll be happythat at you did!!! read more

I have been going to Stuart for almost 20 years now. We have gone from long to medium to bob to short to super short and now back to a bob on my way to medium. My hair is curly in some spots, straight in other spots, and very fine. In other words, it's a mess. Stuart is the only hairstylist I've found in my life who can make it look awesome all the time. He's funny, he's patient, he does what I ask unless he thinks it's a mistake and then he gently talks me out of it. Highly recommended! read more

This great little place is in Kaimuki, right underneath the Bikram Yoga Studio and it is owned and run by an awesome couple- Stuart and Jennifer! The place is hip and fun. Stuart always does a great job on my hair, always does what I ask and gives great suggestions! No too pricey either!! Check it out if you are looking for someone new! read more

I wanted a new hairstyle and Stuart was recommended to me. He did a wonderful job of cutting my hair the way I wanted... he especially trimmed up my bangs perfectly, which no one ever has been able to do before! Then Jen gave me beautiful highlights, which really compliment my hair. This is a terrific salon where you feel comfortable as soon as you walk in! read more

I go to April and I love her!! Never was able to wear my hair down without flat ironing it (it's thick and heavy and frizzy). I even contemplated those straight perms. April convinced me not to get it and that a good cut would do wonders...and she was right! Now I rarely flat iron my hair even when putting it down to go out at night. Been to about 20 stylists in my lifetime looking for someone who could cut my hair right...so glad to have finally found April! She is also so great with my kids when they come and have to wait for me. The entire staff at the salon is great and always friendly. read more

Hairspray has been in Kaimuki for about twenty years. It is a gem! Its a very fashionable salon with up-to-date cuts and color. Stewart and Jen are talented, reliable, honest and hard working stylists. Jen recently cut my long over-processed hair into a lovely short cut that works really well with my curls and the color is amazing. I get compliments every day about how healthy my hair looks! I highly recommend calling to schedule an appointment. read more

I LOVE MY HAIR!!! I recently asked my friend who has gorgeous long hair who she gets her hair done by. She told me Jen @ Hairspray Salon. I called and made an appointment on Wednesday and was able to get an appointment for myself and my sister in law on Saturday. We both have the same goal, LONG HAIR! We let Jen know what we wanted. (To have our hair as long as possible with it also being healthy.) Jen did just that! My hair is gorgeous, still seems as if it were as long as before, she took off about an inch & layered it. The layers are perfect and my hair is overall so much healthier and happier! Thank you Jen for making me feel human again!! read more

Hairspray Salon is the best. I have naturally curly / wavy hair and have gone to Hairspray for years. Stuart is phenomenal.

A friend recommended Stuart at Hairspray when my long time stylist was out of town and I've been going to Stuart ever since. I loved how my hair turned out. A whole new, and much better cut for me! Both Stuart and his wife Jen are a joy to be around; warm, funny, and welcoming. A great atmosphere, where you don't feel lost among the crowd like at some of the larger salons. Good people who will take great care of your hair and you. read more
