Bummer, she was sick yesterday, but I got to see Kate in a pinch! Either way, if you've known me long enough, I spend much more on hair than the average adult male. So I'm pretty particular and will not go back to a place that isn't doing what's trending and also doing a quality job. In Texas, I was fortunate enough to have the BEST lady for years and years, and have since been riding the struggle bus in Washington. **side note... wtf WA guys??? It's like a hip place for a men's haircut simply is not a thing here. Back to The Vault, they are (as the kids say) all slap and no cap . I'm legit ALWAYS the only guy in the whole place when I go. I still don't get that about the PNW, but whatever. If you are a guy and want a haircut that may or may not be decent scissor and clipper work, and is also not a style made popular within the past decade... then maybe this isn't for you. However, if you want something trendy and well done, and you are willing to spend a little dough to get it... go see literally anyone at The Vault. /JD out.

I wanted natural blending in with my undyed hair with low upkeep. I have natural red toward the ends of my hair and I asked if maybe she could match that so it would blend in, subtle. Renee understood the assignment and added dimension to my hair! She gave me a beautiful haircut with layers and a color that blends in with my natural hair. They found an appointment about 45 minutes out, which was helpful, though I was able to check in online immediately -- it made me think there may have been a small mix‑up with the scheduling system. I came in for a simple buzz on the sides and back (at level 1.5). It took a few tries for Kathy to get the edges even, but I genuinely appreciated her determination -- she kept at it until everything was leveled correctly. She offered to trim the length as well, but given the challenges with the edging, I decided to leave the rest for my primary stylist, Reed Alan in Admiral. At checkout, the price was adjusted to $28 for the edging. I can't really speak to the value, but I did leave with the edges looking right. Next time, I'll request Lily, since she's been consistently great.

The highlights she did are white bleach blonde which is so much lighter than my hair was previously. She was only supposed to do the roots. The highlights have weird stripes through them. It was an awful experience. I didn't want to make a scene because there was another customer there when she finished so I paid and left. I called to tell her I was very unhappy and it was not good. Sandy wanted me to pay to come back and fix her mistakes. I requested a refund, as I'm going to have to pay someone else to fix this, she very rudely said she would not refund. Save yourself and your hair and find someone else.

I decided to give it the "ol college try" by trying the student salon. Noah was awesome, he listened to all the concerns I had, asked some great questions, was a great conversationalist, and was mindful of my time (had a meeting at noon). His teacher consulted on every important step and they were helpful too. At the end of the appointment my hair looks fantastic, the green is gone and I'm one step closer to getting back to my natural color after multiple mistakes on my end. I get home my hair is noticeably uneven, they scheduled me a redo not till a week later, I go in and even though they do children's hair cuts (witch we did the week before) my child isn't aloud in there while they fix there mistake. Mind you he is 8 could stand next to me. The length is not the student fault the instructor should have noticed the length she used a ruler, so how did you miss that as a professional? My child's hair cut looks like a lawn mower broke down and I didn't complain about that part! Very unprofessional and uncomfortable conversations going on while I was getting my hair cut as-well.
