Friendly staff, lots of inventory and great selection! So great to have a place like this locally so you don't have to order online.

I previously wrote a VERY strong, unhappy review about Carla's. I DON'T like writing bad reviews,…read morebut want everyone to know this before they find themselves in the same situation. This all happened after my regular hairdresser left to have a baby. She left detailed notes for another hairdresser re: STRENGTH and METHOD of applying my color, as my long hair is very porous, and fragile. I'm 67 and learned this from dozens of other hairdressers over the years, who ALWAYS put the color at the roots, and then pulled the color through at the last couple of minutes - EVEN WHEN CHANGING THE COLOR FORMULA. My regular hairdresser (excellent and nice) at Carla's knew that instantly, also. This time, the NEW hairdresser completely covered ALL my hair at one time, then walked away. My hair started falling out in handfuls after that. I talked back and forth with the receptionist twice (the 2nd time was to ask for the "recipe" of my color formula), then got a call from the Receptionist saying: "We've decided that we're not going to be able to service you anymore. We think it would be better for everyone concerned if you went somewhere else". I was SHOCKED. I asked if I could have a copy of my formula AGAIN. I'VE NEVER GOTTEN A RESPONSE. The Colorist in question called me, was upset and hurt, said it was her livelihood, we discussed the method she used - and honestly, sadly, her story didn't hold up - I'm pretty observant. Bottom line - I CHOSE to remove the review, BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE HURTING PEOPLE OR DAMAGING THEIR CAREERS. I decided to take the "High Road". But it's been weeks, and I've NEVER received my Color Formula. I've since found a WONDERFUL place in Anacortes. And my new Hairdresser told me that color formula was made SPECIFICALLY FOR ME, BELONGED TO ME, and if the same thing happened at her shop they would ALWAYS give the Customer the formula if they wanted to go somewhere else. But FIRST, she'd ask what she could do to help, offer to do some conditioning treatments for free - anything - to help with my hair. None of that was offered at Carla's. They just "blew me off". I did have to cut 1/2 my hair off - it was almost to mid-back. AND, we'll have to go through a few colorings before we get it right. It's been a very sad experience that could have been avoided/fixed. But they had NO desire to do anything to help get my hair healthy again. I'm not hard at all to work with - just be NICE to me. There are some businesses in life that have honor and integrity. I don't find Carla's to be one of those.
