I absolutely love Safiya! She is always very professional and makes me feel at home whenever I am in her chair. She has a way of making you leave your worries behind as she goes to work. It almost doesn't feel like getting your hair done. It feels more like having girl time. It's not just doing hair for her. You can tell that she loves what she does. In the past I've went to hairstylists that did great hair but never took the time to care for my natural hair beneath my weaves. Their focus was always quantity and quick results. Safiya is the opposite. It's about quality and longevity. Her weave installments are always very flat and seamless, lasting for a minimum of 3 months. I currently have 2 wigs in my collection both custom made by Safiya, my oldest being 3 years old! Safiya is amazing!!! She did my hair for my bridal shower last year and I've been going to her the last few months for protective styles. I knew she was the one I wanted to dye and silk press my hair when I was done with braids. I came in with a vague idea of what I wanted and she helped me narrow it down. She also took her time to make sure every part of the process was done correctly. She showed me where my processed ends needed to be cut and trimmed them (even though I'm always hesitant to cut my hair ). The color and styling came out absolutely gorgeous! My hair looks so healthy and feels so soft even though it was just colored. She advised me on how best to maintain it at home and when I should come in for a touch up based on my personal preferences. Did I mention we laughed and talked the whole time? I found this place by chance. I had an event the upcoming week and I wanted to try something new. I've been natural for 6 years and never actually straightened my hair. I'm also very iffy about putting heat on my hair. Ultimately, I decided why not try something new. Of course I made the decision last minute so Sunday night I was scrambling through yelp looking for a place that had an availability for Tuesday. For the first time in my life, a black hairstylist didn't look the slightest bit intimidated by my big, thick, natural hair. I went in for a wash and silk press after neglecting my hair for some time and Safiya left my hair with all the love and attention it needed to look and feel healthy again. She was also the only stylist kind enough to tell me I may have psoriasis in my scalp(which would explain a lot) and to see a dermatologist to be sure. I left with a beautiful haircut with body, movement, and shine and I couldn't be happier with the experience. I found Safiyah by total accident. I was suppose to go to someone else in her salon, but that person wasn't skilled with wigs. She seamlessly took me as her client, so that I could still get my hair done. I walked out with an installed wig, that she cut short, and most importantly, happy. I met Safiya a few years ago. She did a weave bang and when I left her to go home, I noticed some men and women looking at me. Then a gentleman told me how nice my hair looked. Since I did not have to go often I lost contact with her. Fortunately, I found her number and asked her if she could French braid. Love my box braids! Safiya did an amazing job with box braids for me. I was headed to Burning Man and asked for "hair on fire." She did a mix of blonde, orange and red and it looks fantastic! She is a beautiful spirit. My braids came out wonderful and it wasn't tight at all. My hair is short as in pixie short and there was no problem.
