I was very impressed and it went way better than I expected because I have really dark hair but her products worked really well with my hair and lightened it very well. She was able to accomplish a very light ashy blonde! She did my hair exactly how I wanted it and better! She even made a custom dye for my hair which was so personalized! She really is passionate and loves what she does! This was my first time getting my hair professionally done and she made an amazing experience for me. She was able to make my hair mushroom ashy blonde which was really amazing. She was very gentle with my hair and had really good recommendations on aftercare for my hair. I am so glad I went to her. She even styled my hair. Normally my hair does not stay curly because I have stubborn straight hair but the curls she did lasted and I was even more impressed by her art! Matt Andres has been doing my hair for 14 years and all I can say is that he can't ever retire. Everywhere I go, I am either asked who does my hair or Matt does your hair, huh? That cut and color has him written all over it. He is the cut and color master! He knows how to shape a short cut to transition to a long style if you grow it out (I've done it a few times). A lot of stylists today don't know how to do real hair. They know how to install weaves and style them. Matt KNOWS how to CARE FOR AND STYLE THE HELL OUT OF REAL HAIR. I went to put pics on here for Matt and for the shop. And I saw this horrible review regarding Matt. He is a wonderful hairstylist he has been doing my hair as you can see for Years. My mother is 91 yrs old and she has been getting perms for years and my mother in law who is 81 get her hair styled by him as well. My hair grows really fast so that is why you see so many hairstyles. All of those hairstyles you see is my real hair. No weaves, No lace fronts. So for this lady to get on here and try to defame a well known hairstylist all around the Bay Area. I was at an event and this young lady walked up to me and said this hairstyle got Matt written all over it and I said yes he did style my hair for tonight. What other hairstylist can get that type of compliment. So I hope you will not let that one star review from a person named A.J. keep you from the best hairstylist. There are hairstylist around the Bay Area that respects Matt and his amazing gift of styling and coloring hair. I'm sorry you fill that way about your appt. Had I written this a year ago I would have given Mattie Styles at HAIRITIS, who I had been seeing regularly for 6 years, 2-3 STARS but after he mindlessly fried my hair to a crisp, by leaving the PERM SOLUTION on too long, and then did his level best to not take responsibility (ha!) by blaming it on my health and age (I have a letter from my doctor stating my health is excellent). I strongly advise potential customers to avoid him like a dose of COVID. I gave him every opportunity, and in the best humor possible, for nearly 2 months "to make it right." Sadly, he disrespectfully dragged his feet, was much less than helpful, and was little more than rude and nasty. I purchased products and he gave me a "repair treatment." Yet when I wisely called the product's manufacturer and learned he had misapplied it. In the end, and after seeing two other expensive haircare practitioners, one of them a "Perm Expert," I asked him for reimbursement for what it's been costing me to save the little hair I have left. Of course, money can only make up for an absolutely ruined head of, what was before the perm, truly gorgeous hair. (Perhaps he dragged his feet because he more than understandably works another non-hair care-related job.) Poor guy has done nothing but bs, lie and avoid contact. STAY AWAY. read more

When I moved to the Bay Area from Sacramento, I left a hairdresser behind who'd been cutting and coloring my hair for 15 years. It took me a couple of years to finally find Connie, but I am so glad I did. She is so good I normally tell her to just use her own judgment when she asks what I want today. When I finally got to the age where I felt it was time to stop coloring my hair, she even gave me an artful style for that awkward growing-out phase--it was quite chic! Early on, she cut my hair according to its texture and curl pattern (a first in my experience). ... and after a lifetime of getting permanents; and all that it entails: too dry; or brittle/frizzy; not enough curl; too much curl; I haven't needed a permanent since! Sandy makes every effort to graciously accommodate my schedule. Stay away from Pam! Great shop for the 65 and older crowd but it you have long hair and want it layered, FIND SOME PLACE ELSE! I lost 12" of my hair and was left looking like a cocker spaniel with fluffy ears and no layering and it cost me $55.00. Went back and asked to have it fixed the next day. Pam wasn't there and someone else tried to fix it, and couldn't. I went on vacation and came back asking for it to be fixed. Pam tried and kept saying I can't cut your hair with layers and was pulling it out by the knots that were caught in the comb! Then she charged me another $30.00 for her to try and fix my hair and and all she did was the same hair cut but another 4" shorter! In my opinion, I paid $85.00 for my hair to look so bad I don't want to be seen in public. read more

Pam is amazing, Don't go in asking for your hair cut short if thats not what you want!!! She has been cutting my hair since I was a child and she has never done anything I didn't want! She obviously isn't just going to cut off 12" of hair just because she feels like it! It is a great salon for seniors but hey, I'm 24 and she has done every style and color in the book perfectly! I have been a customer of this salon for many years. It is not just for the 'older' crowd. My daughter (under 25 ) is also a customer. I am familiar with the women who had a problem. She wanted a haircut but refused to take out her barrettes!! I defy any stylist to do hair with that kind of limitation. She is also a bit self-important and a know it all. I also know Pam and she wouldn't let anyone out of the building that wasn't satisfied. I do have a stylist, Betty, that has done my hair and nails for years. But, in an emergency, I have been truly satisfied with any/all of the ladies who work here. Betty has rescued my hair from self-inflicted calamities many times, and I would recommend her and her colleagues to anyone.
