One of the things that has been hard for me when visiting most salons- I have moderate hearing loss and the stylists have always been super chatty and ask tons of open ended questions. I usually can't understand 70% of what they say after Ive removed my hearing devices. That always takes makes me feel embarrassed when I keep asking them to repeat themselves or answer something they didnt ask. After showing my stylist my desired cut, she saw me remove my hearing aids. She did not make me feel pressured to make small talk. The head massage she gave me while shampooing my hair was wonderful and relaxing. She was gentle with my hair and took great care with cutting the layers. The front door was propped open and there was a nice breeze coming in. She made me feel happy, relaxed and at ease. I have never had such a quiet and relaxing salon experience. I look forward to visiting her again when I need my hair cut in the future.

Every time you enter, you are greeted by smiles from the Front Desk. Everyone is very kind and has a warm personality, the atmosphere is nice and the interior is beautifully decorated. The only services I have done is cut and color, such as a balayage. This salon and medspa seems to be the one-stop shop for all sorts of needs from hair, tanning, makeup, manicures/pedicures, etc. The massage chairs while you get your hair washed is top notch. Sara is phenomenal. She takes the time to make sure that you are comfortable, listens carefully to what you want, super accommodating and just always does a great job. Even the advice that she gives, she doesn't overstep and try to take anything over without your approval. The entire experience is a breeze with her. I also am not comfortable going back to the salon at this point. I am relieved I got my money back but the damage will take years to repair. I wear wigs daily to look professional for work. Hopefully the salon learned to be more cautious and perhaps do a strand test on hair they aren't sure of while also not leaving the bleach on too long.

I had one of THE most appallingly bad hair experiences here today. I asked for partial highlights…read moreand grey coverage on my temples. I got a $275 quote that almost made me pass out. But I let the stylist proceed. I wish I'd left then and there. I now have a clear line of demarcation about a quarter of an inch from my part line, and she put far too much dye along my temples and the side of my face. It colored my light facial hair so I now look like I have sideburns. I'm still laughing because at 62, we've all survived a hair disaster or two. I know she could tell I wasn't happy. After 3 1/2 hours, I had to go and she hadn't even started to blow dry/style my hair. I didn't attend the event I was supposed to go to afterwards (those sideburns aren't going anywhere anytime soon) and they knocked about $40 off. Still means I got a subpar partial highlight for about $235 bucks...in Richmond, VA...which is crazy. I'll be looking for a new place next time around and trying to keep my head down and my hair untucked and over my ears until these brown stains along the side of my face fade. Ridiculous. Update: The owner did call me, following this review. Though apologetic and mentioning repeatedly this would be used as a "learning experience", I received no offer of either any kind of refund or an amount off for future services or an offer to have anything corrected. I spoke to a work colleague, a Richmond local, and have another salon picked out for next time.
