I was recommended to Joaquin by my cousin and I am so beyond happy with my results! I hadn't dyed my hair in over 3 years due to a previous bad experience so I was nervous to do anything to it again, but upon meeting Joaquin, I knew instantly that this was someone I could trust with my hair (for reference I have naturally thin, curly hair so it doesn't take much for it to get damaged). Joaquin is extremely knowledgeable and experienced and from a client perspective, there is nothing I can appreciate more than a hair dresser/stylist who cares about the HEALTH of your hair. Couldn't recommend Joaquin enough!! read more

I had long long straight hair my entire life and decided to go short and layered, was so scared to cut it but needed change... Joaquin did the most PERFECT gorgeous job on my hair! I showed him a few pictures of a shaggy shoulder length cut with lotsss of layers and he basically replicated the images! I love my hair so much, I've only been going back to him since when I need it trimmed and layered again. The layers are gorgeous people ask me every day who does my hair. 10/10 recommend him! read more

I've been going to Joaquin for over 15 years, and have probably had in the hundreds of haircuts from him. Consistent across all those cuts: the highest quality service, knowledge about all types of hair (I'm a man with thick and curly hair), excellent attention to detail, helpful feedback on styles and products, and great energy + conversation to go along with all of it. And he gives the best head massages - get a shampoo, you won't be sorry. Great quality service with a great vibe - I'd highly recommend him to anyone read more

As a 30 year old jewish male with extremely jewish hair and has a tendency to lose hair quickly (aka a fast balder), Joaquin is a gift from the heavens. He is a true genius with men's hair, taking into account the texture of your hair and the shape of your head to create the best look. Each and every haircut comes our looking incredible. I have referred all of my friends, family, and even my boss to Joaquin. Look no more. read more

I'm pretty particular about my haircuts (as I imagine a lot of people are), so when I first moved to LA in 2011 I spent a frustratingly long amount of time bouncing around different salons getting haircuts that I found unfortunate or underwhelming. That all changed when I found Joaquin! He does an amazing job, I feel like he really understands what I want my hair to look like, and he has good ideas about possible new looks if you're into that. Despite moving states and countries multiple times in the almost decade since, I've continued seeing Joaquin and dread the thought of going to anyone else. He's a great person and friend that I'm happy to give my time and business to, and every person I've referred his way has had a positive experience as well. 11/10! read more

Joaquin is an amazing stylist. He is practical, quick, and great at what he does. He knows his stuff, and will give you an honest opinion on what could work for your features as well as for your personality. I came in with my heavy, de-structured, frizzy and dry long curly hair and left feeling half a pound lighter with a short asymmetrical bob haircut that I absolutely love. I simply showed him pictures of the styles I was interested in and he totally nailed it on the execution. read more

This review has been long overdue. I have been going to Joaquin for several years now. I live and work in SF, but I get my haircut in LA. That's how good Joaquin is. I've followed him through 3 different locations and salons. He gives an absolutely great haircut. I have thick curly black (and gray) hair. He seems to be the only person who knows how to tame it. The real proof is not the moment after you get a haircut, but a week later when it is growing in nicely and it still looks great. I don't know how he understands my crazy curly hair so well, but it's fantastic. Currently a men's short haircut is $25. This is WAY underpriced for the quality and service. On top of all that, I always look forward to chatting when I get my hair cut, and typically I dread making chit chat while other stylists cut my hair. read more

Joaquin really knows hair! I showed him a picture of a haircut I liked, and he expertly recreated it. My hair is trickier than it looks - thick and wavy and hard to tame. Fortunately, Joaquin is a seriously talented hair stylist. Thanks, Joaquin! read more

Joaquin is an AMAZING stylist and a sweetheart. I went to the same stylist for 15 years. However I moved from OC over a year ago and it got to be too much to commute. I have tried different stylist in LA and none were as good as Joaquin. He gave me the exact color and style that I wanted. I loved my cut and the color. He did a fabulous job and I have finally found my next stylist. read more

Joaquin is a magician with his scissors. Great price. Great cut and he gives a killer scalp massage and hair wash before his cut. 5 stars.

Joaquin is an artist!!! He always does amazing work and has time to take care of you. His prices are low for what you get... I hope he doesn't figure that out because I've easily paid 2.5 times as much other places for half the quality. He has really perfected his craft but is always working to learn the newest hottest trends!!! I just love him!! read more

Joaquin is a delightful, experienced, young hairstylist. I have been looking for an stylist like him for a long time. From Umberto to Juan Juan to H Salon you name it. I have been there and I never came out happy. But let me tell you about Joaquin! He first listened carefully, looked at my hair. sat me down, and 30 minutes later my hair was exactly cut the way I wanted. He first left it a bit longer than I wanted. Showed me in the mirror and asked me if I like the length. When I told him I would have wanted a bit shorter he graciously agreed and started all over again and I was nervous that he may go too short this time (I never correct a hair stylist just for that reason) but for some reason I felt I can trust Joaquin. He has that quality that you feel comfortable in his chair and feel you can trust him. The second time he did exactly how I imagined it. Then he gave it a bit of layer like a magician!!! He is fast. He is very intuitive. He has a great attitude. Skillful and as Persians say: art is flowing from each of his fingers!!!! Lol Thank you Joaquin! I can't wait for my next hair cut with shampoo to get the special hair massage treatment!!! read more

Joaquin is a hair GOD. He understands hair like Picasso understood painting. Struggling to find "the one' I looked at over 50 stylists instagram pages and noticed they all did the same beach blonde/messy wave/side swept bangs/LA balayage. And they all cost over $300 for a cut/color. No thanks. Then the universe (Yelp) let me to Joaquin. Looking through his work I noticed 2 things: 1. He cuts long hair amazingly well - which is much harder to do 2. His color is impeccable and every person had a completely different look. He's obsessed with the details....he can literally do ash blonde 10 different ways. So I made my appt, and ended up being late. I would have 100% understood if he charged me a late fee and told me I had to re-book. But he didn't do any of that. He was so understanding and accommodated me and was just the most awesome person. All talent and class - a rare breed in LA. I'm obsessed with my hair....he cut and colored it's so full and bouncy all the time. I'm So So So happy and cannot wait to go back. I think he needs to increase his rates by 100% - that's how f*ckin talented this soul is. Thanks Joaquin I'm so happy I found you xo read more

I scheduled a haircut and I even called to confirm 30 minutes before the appointment. When I got there Joaquin told me that there were a few people ahead of me and that it would be 45 minutes and that he hoped I didn't have anywhere to be. He then tried to pawn me off onto another hairdresser, which I thought was very unprofessional. So I went and got a bite to eat and when I came back he told me there was still someone else ahead of me. He then asked the woman ahead of me if he could cut my hair real quick before her. When I told him that I didn't want him rushing my haircut he told me he didn't have time for this and to leave. He was very unprofessional and I will never go back there again. read more
