The salon itself was beautiful - it is located in the Bolingbrook Promenade, and the decor is beautiful and relaxing. The receptionist was incredibly kind and offered me water, coffee or tea when I arrived which was a nice touch. Katy gave me an incredible head massage as a part of my shampoo. It was so relaxing and a true highlight of my experience. She was also incredibly kind and personable. However, my haircut wasn't as great as the rest of the experience. I asked for it to be just below the shoulders, and instead, my cut was above the shoulders. When Katy dried my hair, she asked if I wanted it styled straight or with my natural wave, and I said let's go with my natural wave. I think that was a mistake, because while it looked a little off when I left, I assumed it was just the wave playing tricks on my brain. After I washed my hair the next day, I realized how uneven the cut was. There was about an inch and a half difference between the left and the right side, and it was unevenly cut throughout. Since I noticed on a Saturday evening how bad it was, I ended up going to a local hair Cuttery to get it fixed and they did a great job but did have to remove a bit more length to make it all one length. I ended up with a long bob instead of just below my shoulders. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at the salon itself, but the cut didn't live up to the experience. I might try a different stylist in the future since I did enjoy the location and general vibes, though appointment availability seems quite limited so that may just not end up being convenient or realistic with my schedule.

All the stylists are incredibly nice, talented, and up-to-date on the latest styles. They all attend hair shows and still take classes, which I LOVE! I recently got the shilac non-chip manicure done also and love it! My favorite stylist is Jen Arias. Honestly, I have been going to her for years and have trusted her with my locks under the most extreme occasions, even when I was undergoing chemotherapy. She has been there for me through thick hair and thin hair, very short hair, and very long hair. She was there for me on my sister's wedding day and my wedding day with nine bridesmaids when the salon was supposed to be closed. She's been there when I went through a divorce and needed to feel good again. She recommends the best and right products and gives me the best cuts for my hair type. After chemo, my hair grew back thick and curly thanks to Jen. Also, Jen is a miracle worker when it comes to color. She is the color queen! In my experience, my hair does not hold color well due to the medication I am on. However, Jen uses a combo of tones to give my hair this awesome, red velvet RED. There is not a day that goes by that I don't receive compliments about my gorgeous, luscious RED hair. Recently, Jen cut about 10 inches of my long thick hair off and completely changed my old look to an updated chic inverted bob that I can wear straight or luckily, curly! We also like to play with my color a bit. Yes, it is still an awesome shade of RED, but with chunky deeper red low-lights. It is GORGEOUS and SUPER CHIC! I have been getting even MORE compliments everywhere I go, and everyone wants to know who does my hair. I have had to write the salon, their phone number and Jen's name down on the back of my business card for people I don't even know! Jen is kind, beautiful, talented, and takes her career seriously. This salon kept coming up on my Instagram. I decided to take a chance on this salon. My whole experience with Alia Rose was amazing from booking to check out. It's always scary to try a new salon for color. When I saw some of their work online, I decided to give them a try. When I called to make my appointment the person who answered the phone was friendly and took her time. I asked questions about their payment methods. Stylist is able to take cash/venmo/zelle/ or even a check for tip. Nice that they offer all of these options. The salon is located on a busy street with street parking. There is a pedestrian cross walk right in front of the salon. I was greeted promptly and the interior of the salon was beautiful. I was scheduled with Emilee for my full highlight and touch up. She listened to my thoughts and took the time to explain pricing up front. I appreciated that she told me what to expect right away as the salon sticker shock is never pleasant. What I also noticed is that everyone who worked here seemed genuinely happy and that they enjoyed their work. Staff helped each other out and complimented their co-workers color and styles. My color turned out great and I am happy with the results. I already pre-booked my next appointment. Thankful for a salon closer to home with great customer service. So, recently I opted to do an at home color myself and was incredibly unhappy with it so I called on Alia Rose to the rescue! I have heard of this salon over the years as I have a couple friends that go here. This is probably one of the prettiest and most well appointed salons I have ever been to. The staff, and I mean the entire staff from the front desk to the colorist and the shampoo girl, were beyond sweet. I had a great experience with Kailey, my colorist. She heard my plight and did an epic job at fixing my mess. I was in the chair for about three hours. A great experience here - I'm very happy with my hair color and I feel like I made a friend. FYI, this place seems to also be popular with young men as much of the clientele on the afternoon I was there were teenage boys and young men. They all seemed happy when the left. A family member had an appointment with the stylist Maureen. The front desk apparently booked the appointment incorrectly, and instead of handling the situation professionally, the stylist appeared frustrated. The service felt rushed, shortcuts were taken, and she was physically rough, pulling on my family member's hair and face in ways that made her uncomfortable. The end result was uneven and not what we expected, and my sister's hair was left noticeably botched. I contacted the manager, Dominic, who initially said he would help arrange a makeup appointment. Instead, he later told my family member he did not believe her concerns and informed her she would no longer be accepted as a client. Only a partial refund was offered for a service that cost nearly $300. UPDATE: the owner, Ron Rocco, called me. He said he was reaching out to help schedule a new appointment, but the call quickly shifted to him saying he did not want to do my family member's hair. Throughout the call, he repeatedly raised his voice and spoke over me, not allowing me to speak. As a younger woman speaking with an older male business owner, the interaction felt intimidating, uncomfortable, and unprofessional. During the call, he also mentioned that he had checked with the stylist to confirm whether my family member had tipped. She had tipped generously, and the comment felt completely unnecessary and out of place. He also stated that he is at the salon every day, which differs from what staff members had previously told us. He mentioned that he was "not threatend of a Yelp review," and I want to be clear: reviews are not threats. They are honest accounts of customer experiences. Everything in this review is truthful and based entirely on firsthand interactions. I also received a notice from Yelp that the business attempted to have my review removed. Key points: --I personally do not feel safe or comfortable returning to this salon. -I do not recommend booking with Maureen based on how she handled this situation. -In my experience, the business did not prioritize customer satisfaction or take accountability. -Management made me feel that customer concerns were dismissed rather than addressed. -The service felt overpriced for the rushed quality delivered. -Several interactions with the front desk staff felt unprofessional and unfriendly. -As a young woman, my interactions with both management and ownership felt uncomfortable and intimidating. -My sister's hair was left uneven and poorly done, which added to the frustration. -The salon seemed willing to tolerate the behaviors and issues we experienced rather than fixing them. -To quote Ron Rocco "Yelp reviews don't threaten me"!
