This was my second visit to Dimensions East for a wash and blow dry, and unfortunately it will be my last. My first visit already set a concerning tone--the receptionist didn't even show me to the waiting area, so I ended up sitting on the window ledge and waited about 15 minutes because the stylist was running behind. On my second visit, I arrived at 11:20am for an 11:30am appointment. By 11:45am I was still waiting. The receptionist finally came over and told me they would get me washed in five minutes and include a deep conditioning treatment. I explained that I didn't want a treatment due to time constraints, and because deep conditioning typically leaves my blow dry flat. This was clearly something to cover the fact that they were running late but didn't want to admit it. She said okay, but then never returned. Another staff member ( who was very nice and understanding) approached me at 11:50am and I explained I had already been waiting 20 minutes. At 11.55am, I was finally taken to the basin. After washing my hair, I was told to go back to the waiting area--something I never would have agreed to had I known I'd be waiting again with wet hair. I eventually took a seat beside the stylist while she finished with another client. She apologized and said, "Everyone has long hair today," which honestly isn't a valid excuse. I suggested that the booking system include an option to indicate hair length so that appropriate time can be allocated. The blow dry itself was just okay. When I went to check out, the receptionist didn't ask how my service was or acknowledge the delays--she simply said, " that will be $50." Needless to say, I did not tip, and I will not be returning. Dimensions East needs to seriously improve their booking system, time management, and overall customer service. The lack of organization and communication makes the entire experience frustrating and unnecessarily inconvenient. read more

Was recently at work and received a random charge on my card of $66 from this place. When I called to ask about this charge, I was informed that apparently I had an appointment and was a no show. I did not receive any reminders via phone or text, despite them claiming that they were sent. They should not hold their customers liable for a failure of their reminder system. Beautiful hair color but I can't even enjoy my new look and have had to have my hair up because my *entire scalp has been covered in scabs* for 3 weeks now due to chemical burns from the bleach (I've had my hair bleached a bunch of times before and this has never happened). While I was getting the color done my scalp was in extreme burning pain and I even asked if my scalp would be okay but was assured by the stylists that it was normal. It's definitely not normal considering this has never happened when bleaching my hair before and turns out I should have listened to my instincts because now I have extremely thick scabs attached to my scalp and roots that I can only hope will get better over time. I'm hoping the stylists didn't see my curly/textured hair and feel inclined to add extreme strength products but I'll never know because I called the salon and informed reception about it twice and have still yet to hear back from them. You would think a service provider would jump to make resolution for the fact that their work caused someone to have scabs on their scalp but apparently people have different standards of conducting business... Unfortunately going to have to look elsewhere for the continued treatment of my hair as I'm definitely not coming back. read more

In the last two years I've entrusted Shakia with my hair. So far, Shakia has given me beautiful color, easy to maintain cuts, and taught me how to style it and keep it up. I never leave her chair unhappy or underwhelmed, and I get compliments on the hair very often. On my most recent visit I got my very long hair (I'm talking more than halfway down my back) cut into a cute bob. I was understandably nervous about doing so, but Shakia and I talked about how short she would go, how she was going to shape the cut, and why it would work for me. That consultation is the reason I trusted her to make the change. I am very happy with it! I could not have trusted anyone else to do it either. I have dealt with stylists who didn't take the time for consultation and gotten less than pleasing results, which makes one a little nervous about letting them go to town with the scissors. Shakia always takes time for the consultation and she made sure I was 100% ready for the cut. I appreciated that. The salon itself was remodeled at the beginning of the year. My first experience here I posted about where I was incredibly dissatisfied. I will say that my opinion is completely turned around! This shop knows how to treat customers. I never complain but really left unhappy and the owner reached out to me and made sure I didn't feel pressured into a decision, they offered to fix my hair or give me a refund as they were so upset for me that I was not happy. I returned and had Jeanne, who is a color genius, turn my green and teal streaked hair into a wonderful copper color that we will be able to build highlights into. She knows color and what she is talking about. She listened to me, they didn't make me feel judged and I left feeling beautiful! The salon itself hasn't really been great to me, but I mainly go for my girl Lydia!!! She's a really great stylist and knows what fits your face and skin complexion regarding cuts and color. Her styling is always so pretty too. The services here are a bit pricey at times, but that's my girl and I'm scared to see anyone else for my hair, especially since she's helped me for years since I first came to her with a horrible dye job. If she were to leave I don't think I'd come back to this place lol. One time a girl was washing my hair and ripped out one of my cartilage hoops with a comb... not pleasant. I still tipped her cuz I felt bad, but yeah they gotta be more careful over by the washing stations. read more

I had gone to dye my hair a specific color and it ended up being nothing I wanted. Came out orange and I was under the impression it was going to be successful, since the hair dresser showed me the color she wanted me to achieve from the book and it was what I wanted. Customer service was very good but at the end of the day I was still unhappy with my hair and went back the next day to try to make it less orange but was still left with a color I did not want while paying again for a blow out. I honestly spent $350 on everything and I am extremely disappointed because I could've gone somewhere else that would have achieved my goal with my hair. I wish I got a refund instead of going twice with dissatisfied results. Now I have to pay that price all over again to go to another salon to try to fix it. Long story short, don't go there to dye your hair from dark brown to a lighter color. They're probably used to working with clients who already have lighter hair. Loving your customers so much took you 2 months to post this response. Keeping a clean business is a responsibility regardless of the onset of a pandemic or not. And choosing to force a $5 cleaning fee to clients each visit is simply greedy and insensitive. But I guess that's the love you have for them! As for the credit card fees....you may want to check with your desk staff on that as I have the receipts to prove it. I, like many others, have happily left this salon and found a more reputable, customer focused place where cleaning and pandemic protocols are visibly followed without customers having to pay extra for it. Everytime I come here it's the same story. I don't know why I continue to come & don't learn my lesson. My appt was for 3. My hair stylist has been scurrying between me & another client for now 2 hours and 15 minutes & im only now getting in the chair. This is always the case. They obviously overbook. 3 hours to do highlights, a wash, cut & blow & my cut is awful. I look like Fred Flintstone, seriously. 200.00 for aggravation and an ugly haircut. It's my fault. I went into the salon for a simply wash and blowout style, and was in the chair for almost four hours. My stylist was name Genie and she was older, which one would assume would make her more experienced, but she was the most unprofessional of them all. She had a bad attitude and was unnecesarily rough with me. Do not sit in her chair, she smells like cheese puffs!!! The overall experience of the salon was just as unimpressive. The stylists were unproffesional and made me uncomfortable by talking about current political opinions (I definitely heard a few ALL LIVES MATTER comments) which was made worse by the all white staff. The only good thing about my experience was the super nice and pretty receptionist, Aliana. She was very welcoming and sweet and made me feel very cared for. read more

I came in for a root touch up and was pleasantly surprised by the time and attention the team took to achieve my desired look through the safest measures possible. They offered to fix but my hair was only going to get more damaged so I am stuck with my color and will be washing it out as much as possible to get all this dark pigment out... then going else where. My appointment was with Lydia, and after analyzing my hair, she thoughtfully warned me against having the treatment I'd come for, as it really wouldn't be healthy for my hair. Shakia is the best, a lifesavor! I came in with a botched hair color from other salon & she fixed it. She listened to me & & what i wanted & man, did she deliver! I left the salon feeling very pretty. Also, very importsntly, my difficult 100% grey roots were completely covered. & I decided 2 get highlights for 1st time in life, they were spectacular! I couldnt get enough complements! Per my request, she also fixed my haircut. I have thick wavy coarse frizzy colored hair and left salon witj soft hair. I went to this hair salon as a part of a bridal party for a wedding. I had to be there at 7:15 in the morning but my friend and I were running a bit behind schedule (completely our fault) but the women in the salon were bad mouthing us to each other and the other bridesmaids. I understand being punctual is important as you are working on appointments but what kind of professionals trash talk customers out in the open like that? My friends were mortified and told us right away. We are both moms with babies at home and sometimes the baby doesn't follow your schedule! We got there about ten minutes late and then sat around for an hour not being seen. Once I was finally taken by a stylist, she took FOREVER! All I had done were loose curls, half up -half down... it took forever and all the while she was commenting on how ugly my gray hairs were and how I should come back to have her dye my hair. She even went as far as to say I should stop at a CVS before the wedding to get a bottle of root touch up because my grays were so unseemly and ugly and night "ruin" pictures..After all that and being charged a whopping $120....and being insulted and badmouthed by poor professionals... my hair fell before we even got to the church and my friends were constantly trying to help pin the curls back up but by the reception it was just a loose mess . So this review is mostly for Shakira, overall I must say that the salon was very high end and very classy very professional I loved it the minute I walked in I felt like I was in the middle of Manhattan everyone was professional everyone was polite and very nice I was introduced to Shakira she knew exactly what I wanted how I wanted my hair to be done. She transferred my limp long lifeless here into a sexy short hair do something that I want it and took years off my face.. her personality was very light airy and so pleasant she was so positive.... she knew her trade and I'm glad to know she have over 30 years of experience under her belt. I expected more from a big place and a lot of tools to be successful business. Prices aren't worth it either. Might as well take the 15 min ride to the Bronx.
