I get there and I get my hair washed and the ladies armpit goes right above my nose so the 5 minutes that I was getting my hair washed all that I could smell was BO. I asked for 1 inch and no layers they cut 4 inches and layers so now I am going to have a hard time putting my hair in a ponytail for lacrosse. Then when my mom was paying they said to her that she had to pay an extra 40 dollars just because my hair was long meanwhile my sisters haircut costs 34 dollars and mine costs 74 dollars. The vibe there was so scetchy to. I just feel like they didn't really care and they kept whispering with their coworkers and then looking around. read more

I have been to the location before for a shampoo and they have always brushed my hair after but today they told me that it was something they don't do. I was starting to think maybe they didn't feel like doing it so that they could get going with the next person. But why would someone want to walk out of there with tangles in their hair after just getting it shampooed. I had to ask them to brush my hair. read more

This was a really great experience at this hair cuttery. I only had to wait about 5 minutes for my stylist to be ready for my haircut. I requested a buzz cut with a number four blade and then a shampoo afterwards to clean me up. She got to work and started shaping my hair and getting rid of the much-needed mop on my head! She was done in a hurry and then cleaned me up with a razor and gave me a close clean shave up around my ears and also took care of a straightening up my eyebrows. After which she asked if my cut looked okay and I that it did and went off to get a shampoo. She did a really good job with that shampoo and also the cut and I was in and out of there within about 20 minutes. The vibe of the shop seemed pretty cool and relaxed and very laid back. I've been to many hair Cuttery locations in the region but this is probably one of the best I've been to and I will definitely be back. Highly recommend! read more

$30 for a basic haircut plus tip, no walkin accepted, and I'm a guy who literally have no special request and the whole haircut was over in literally 15 minutes tops. I think they need to make a better policy about walk-in, otherwise I don't know what exactly I'm paying all that money for... I am probably the best kind of client for any hair cutting place, except for the fact that I don't buy any fancy hair treatment products read more

Maly was very personable and made me feel very at ease. She did a great job and listened carefully to how I wanted my hair cut.

Hair cut was great, however, the 50% discount that was offered by text was not applied.

This place sucks. Back in April A girl who works there agreed to to put long layers in my hair and then chopped it off into an uneven mullet then laughed at me. I cried everyday for months and wore wigs over it. I'm certain she was jealous of me and wanted to make me feel as miserable as she does everyday of her life. read more

Julie is excellent!!. The shop is pleasant and convenient. Scheduling via the app is easy.

I went to the Timonium Hair Cuttery recently and had a great experience. I had Hilights done and cut & dry with Julie. I was a little nervous at first because I had a bad experience at the competition a few months ago. Julie was professional and she did a wonderful job with my coloring and thin, straight hair. I love the cut she did and will definitely go back to her. Don't let the old stereotypes scare you off. Give them a try, ask for Julie. read more

I took my daughter here for a trim and some two strand twists. I was quoted a price of $98. When I picked her up the price was $145. A long hair fee was added-her hair is NOT long and wasn't long before the "trim". Beware bait and switch prices. Additional note: Amber said "they" forgot to add the fee. She provided the initial quote and then did her hair and checked us out. Our ONLY interaction was with Amber. read more

I've heard this is a good shop but this company needs to stop advertising that walk-ins are welcome. They're not.

I had been scared to get my hair cut after the bad experience I had at my local store. It took me about an hour to get up the nerve to go in and see if I could get a haircut today. I am really glad I did finally go in. Julie was wonderful and a reminder of everything I love about the area I'm from. I will gladly drive the hour to get a haircut at this location. read more

I had great service. I called ahead and they were able to squeeze me in between appointments. The hairdresser I had did a great job which I don't have much hair to begin with anyways. She didn't force conversation and was very thorough, polite and just nice. I would definitely come back here again and request her. read more

My daughter and I got facial, which were good BUT my "90 minute" facial was actually 70 minutes and my daughter's 75 minute facial was 60 minutes. We didn't realize it until we were in the car. Otherwise, I would have adjusted the tip or asked for a price adjustment. read more

She tried. I give her 3 stars because she didn't give me any problems downgrading my blowout to what I scheduled. Deluxe, it was not. I am African American and I'm really over the low key racism used by Hair Cuttery when servicing a blowout. Even black stylists have bought into the belief that it should cost more to blow dry our hair. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. I was ok with the subpar blowout until we got to the register and she tried to pull that Deluxe cost on me. No baby, when I get a deluxe blowout it's a round brush and I leave with shiny bouncy curls, not something my lil cousin could have done. read more

The woman Paula that works here is rude as fuck. The way she talked to and about my friend's hair was unacceptable. On top of that, Paula was 20 minutes late for my friends appointment, and refused to accommodate for the lost time. MY friend came home in tears because of the things Paula said. I.e : "you definitely need a haircut this is awful." "Your hair is dirty and not clean at all." I called hair cuttery to cuss her tf out and she had the audacity to say "I was just telling her the truth." She's close to getting rolled up on considering her job is to do hair and make the customer satisfied. The truth is that her license should be taken away for her rude behavior and lack of tact. read more

So I went here with my daughter. Normally I get wash cut and blow out but the lady said she charges for length and it be an additional $44 if I wanted that. Personally I've never been charged for length before and then she said she didn't have time for it. I'm not one to talk back to people but I really couldn't help thinking "why offer it if you can't do it." The other salon girl offered it to my daughter and she has basically the same shoulder length hair and didn't say their was an up charge. Would I go back, the price was $24 for both of us. It wasn't a bad experience it was just meh. read more

My hairdresser at the Timonium plaza was literally drunk at 10:15 am. She came in reeking and sloppy and talking about how much she really likes Trump and hates Nancy Pelosi. I felt extremely nervous and uncomfortable and didn't know what to do. I was there for a quick trim and she had already cut off a third so I was stuck and just trying to get to the end of the ten minutes it would take. She's got short gray hair, a weathered wrinkly face and is in her mid 70s (I'm guessing) and was telling me she used to cut models' hair in Paris (utterly absurd). I'm positive she was drunk (you could smell it) and it wasn't even 10:30 am. Terrifying. An awful trim. I ended up finishing it myself. Disaster. read more

I didn't have the greatest experience here. I walked in on a Tuesday around 6:30pm. After checking in it was about a 15 minute wait as both stylists were busy. Tami was my stylist, and she was very friendly. I was optimistic at first because she took a lot of time listening to what I wanted. I went in with very long hair, wanted a couple of inches off and long layers. Tami said that that wouldn't be a problem and asked specific questions to make sure she got it right. Everything that you would expect from someone who has been in the industry for 40 years, as she has. However, a couple of minutes into cutting my hair, a slew of people walked in. By this point in time, it was around an hour before closing. Tami walked over to check them in (100% fine with me), and when she got back snipped off a couple more hairs and sent me on my way. Not even a blow dry! I left with dripping hair, none of the layers that I wanted, and hair shorter than I thought I had asked for. I understand that things get busy, but it seems like there needs to be some sort of protocol for that situation. All of the people who came in were walk-ins, they did not have appointments. It felt as though Tami rushed through my cut to get to the next customers (as a frame of reference - the other stylist who had started cutting a man's hair when I walked into the salon at 6:30 was still working diligently on the same customer), and that quantity of haircuts was prioritized over quality of cuts. read more

My mind was blown today as I watched a stylist and her client walk out of the salon and then go straight into the adjoining restaurant and order takeout salad food. The client obviously was having her hair colored blonde and had all the foil and a towel loosely hanging on her head with the foil hanging out from underneath. Seems like some sort of violation by the salon but what do I know. maybe the stylist should have gone and bought food for her so the people in the restaurant didn't have to look at that or smell it or wonder why she would leave the salon with a color treatment in progress. Civilization with common sense is gone. Me!!! Me!!! Me!!! read more

When we moved to the area, we needed to find a new salon. In the mean time, we tried the traditional hair cuttery. We brought pictures of ourselves from previous hair cuts to show what we wanted. After 45 minutes, the haircut was awful. The stylist butchered our hair and we had to go elsewhere to get it fixed. Even though the stylists are nice, they focus on conversation instead of working. read more

I had a great experience tonight with Kat. I was referred to her by a friend who always has good hair! She really listened to what I wanted done (this was my first appointment with her) by asking many questions, looking a photos of previous cuts elsewhere, etc. She colored my roots, highlighted, cut many layers into my hair and gave me a full blowout. I am thrilled with the results. I also give this HC high marks for their Covid procedures. I saw immediate, thorough sanitizing of any areas used by clients. Also, there were 11? stations in this location and only 4 stylists. So there was plenty of room and ventilation so I felt safe. All employees wore masks and all customers did as well. I am definitely going back. read more

Very happy I went there because of the positive comments n was glad I did. Excellent prices. I had had a bad experience at another Hair Cuttery which explains my concerns. My last hair cut was at a high end salon in Timonium. Not worth the $75.00 I aid. I was greeted immediately by Erika. She was great. We talked about what I was looking for and in 5 min. She understood what I was hoping for. She did a fantastic job and I will go back. Ask for Erika. read more

I was so scared to go to a Hair Cuttery for a haircut because as a child I had a really bad experience at one. A lady chopped my bangs horribly and when I saw my hair I cried and cried! Haven't been back to one since (I'm almost 39). Today I saw Jeanna and my experience completely changed my opinion of Hair Cuttery! I showed her a picture and she cut my hair exactly how I wanted. Not to mention the way she dried and styled it. It turned out so cute, even better than I had imagined. I will definitely be going back to Jeanna!!! read more

My stylist, who didnt even give me her name, didnt really listen to what i wanted to have done to my hair. i wanted slight layers and it to my chin or a little lower when it was curly. Before i knew it, she was cutting my wet and straight hair at chin level! and she gave me drastic layers. and she didnt even speak to me at all except when she asked me what i wanted. i have been here before plenty of times and have had amazing work done to my hair by multiple of the best stylists i have ever met and the best advise to keep my hair healthy i have ever been given so this is beyond disappointing and i am questioning whether i should ever go back out of fear of getting such a bad job done. read more

Sadly, this salon is all about getting as much money as you can any way you can from each customer. I suspect this is because the stylists pocket less than 50% of what they charge. I made an appointment on line for a Deluxe Blowout with first available stylist for $36. Erika took me as a client when I arrived. I specifically told her that I usually use a flat iron to finish after my hair is dry and asked if that was included in the fee for a Deluxe style. She said YES. I gave her my credit card and $10 cash tip. She did a nice job. It said on line that they allow 60 minutes for the service, but I arrived promptly at 12:45pm and was out by 1:15pm. I was never shown the amount charged at the register. She offered me the receipt after the sale, but I trusted her and said no thanks. I assumed that she and the salon operated in good faith. When I got the bill I was in disbelief that she charged me $59!!! I made it clear when I came in that money is an issue as I am a retiree. I want to say that she did a nice job, but her behavior was duplicitous in handling the fee. When I went today to correct what I thought was an inadvertent error on Erika's part, I was told that she charged it as an "add on" to a Deluxe Styling. This is a form of fraud. If management does not correct the error and issue a refund, I will report the incident to the Maryland State Health Department which regulates licensing of beauty establishments and Maryland Attorneys General office, Division of Consumer Affairs. Frankly, this is the third time I have tried to use this Hair Cuttery over the years because it is located just blocks from my home. Every time I have been disappointed by th read more

I saw a stylist, Paula, here for cut/color for a yr and things went well...until my last appointment when she absentmindedly applied the wrong color to my hair. Paula said she could fix it and I ended up staying almost 6 more hrs while she put my hair through 3 more chemical processes. I even paused her half-way through to ask if so many chemicals wouldn't damage my hair but was assured it would be fine... Then to top off a terrible night, Paula forgot to place the guard on the clippers before cutting my hair. Later, I noticed 2-3 inch pieces of hair falling about my shoulders. I hoped maybe this was just normal shedding after working with my hair a lot but not so. Throughout the next couple days, my damaged hair continued to break. I went from having a longish bob to short, uneven clumps of hair. Though I expressed my displeasure, Paula never apologized and she charged me full price as if nothing at all had gone awry!! I had to go to the general manager to get my money refunded, which took forever but not as long as it did for my hair to even out! read more

I made an appointment a few weeks ago and stupidly hasn't done any research into where I was going. So today before my appointment I looked at reviews and started to get worried about having a bad experience. Some of the reviews were just plain bad. I was also worried since it had been over 6 months without a hair cut that I'd have to take a lot off the ends, however my stylist Paula was wonderful. She worked with me and my hair to make sure it was back to being healthy while still making sure I was happy with the length. I also got two hair treatments to help with breakage and dry hair, and she was so nice and pleasant throughout the whole experience (which ended up being over an hour long). She even gave me some very good advise on how to prevent my shampoo building up on my scalp to help my hair and scalp be healthier and happier. I will be happy to go back to her again for the next cut and treatment. read more

Last night I went in with my two friends for a haircut and my experience was great as was theirs! However, after recommending this place to my best friend, she went in today only to be treated awfully by Paula, resulting in her coming home in tears. Not only did Paula point out physical "flaws" such as scars, but she questioned how my friend got them and made her feel very judged. Not only this, but she made it seem as though my friend was a burden by ridiculing her about her "dirty hair" and damaged split ends. Is that not your job to fix? Even if not, it IS your job to make your clients feel respected, let alone not judged? When we called to complain, she responded with "well, I was only telling her the truth." Whether that be the case, treat your clients/customers with respect. Horrible customer service. Because of Paula, she lost all of our future business. Disrespectful and disgusting. read more

I would give my hair cutter zero stars if I could. I should have stopped her in her tracks when she told me, "You really can't mess up a haircut." Well she was wrong, very wrong! i called back to the store and they said they would fix it but I don't know how they can. Unless they can regrow my hair instantly and then cut it correctly. Hair Cuttery should make sure all their employees are able to cut hair especially men's hair. All I was asking for is a military cut with enough hair left on top to part over. I can't believe that that is too much to ask. read more
